mrsR I wondered about Chance, or maybe Clinique Happy?

I think Chance is possibly more than I want to spend - I like to get her the Clarins shower gel she loves but feels is too extravagant to buy herself, plus a few other wee bits, and my total budget is £100.

Calmanddance · 20/10/2018 07:05

Judy, how about Estée Lauder Pleasures, Paul Smith Rose or Gucci Bamboo? Boots are also doing offers on some of the Narciso Rodriguez, but maybe they would be too heavy for your mother?

BookMeOnTheSudExpress · 20/10/2018 07:19

Light: Happy? (Check out the Clinique website, often bizarrely loads cheaper than stores even online and % off with first orders.
Dd has all the Chances now and I'd say only the green one (fraiche, is it?) is what I'd call light. The others are very cloying teenagery smells (without being mingers)

Noa is lovely and light and whenever dd wears either that or Cool Water I go "ohhhh you smell lovely, what is it?"

I stockpile old Dioressence and Diorella. I may begin to stockpile PP Opium, Rive Gauche, Samsara and Infusions d'Iris.

UnnecessaryFennel · 20/10/2018 08:25

SOTD is Feu Follet for a stomp through London #peoplesvote

Branleuse · 20/10/2018 09:22

Lush Vanillary is one of my staples. I ALWAYS get compliments when I wear it. Its one of the more wearable lush perfumes.
I love checking out the lush perfumes although a lot of them are just bizarre, you do occasionally get a blinder. Only problem is they regularly get discontinued. One of my favourites is "smell of weather turning"
It occasionally turns up on ebay now, and I stock up. Perfect autumn/early winter scent. Minty, grassy earthy and green.

Branleuse · 20/10/2018 09:23

oh, it looks like theyve brought it back

Ginger & nutmeg plus Gingembre is Sotd.
Judy how about Ralph Lauren Romance Or Origins Ginger Essence Or the Liz Earle Perfumes. My mum (70s) loves Happy and really liked the Liz Earle no 15 the other day.

3TresTrois · 20/10/2018 19:31

I adore Addict BlahBlah but rarely reach for it. Weird. It’s an occasional bedtime treat for me, even though it’s supposed to be bold and sexy. I find it very cosy Grin.

Never tried Lush fragrances. Vanillary sounds well...lush! Is it still available?

SOTD is my new favourite ‘any occasion’ work horse Chloe Love (or Love Chloe?). It’s bloody discontinued (!!)... so tryst me to call for it belatedly. If you like either Insolence or Prada Iris...it’s kind of mid way between. The violetty, powdery goodness of Insolence but not such a big, sweet violet bb...has that airy, dry and slightly soapy iris of the Prada.

It’s delectsble. I may have to stockpile...

3TresTrois · 20/10/2018 19:32

*fall for it

  • violet bomb

  • fuck my typing after a glass of wine

What’s your beloved Avon like, mrs8?

Tried a local Lush today but they didn't stock smell of weather turning, so that's still a mystery. I'm a big vanilla fan but vanillary was absolutely not for me. I know some love it but I couldn't at all. It seems vanillas are marmite to me, some I love and some I hate, even classics that most people adore. Hypnotic poison was a big no for me too.
Yet I have lots of other vanillas that range from boozy, flowery, woody, cakey, smoky, spicy. I wish I could put my finger on what repels me about certain vanillas.

Popped into penhaligons and they were lovely, giving me and the children each a printed silky handkerchief scented with our perfume of choice. Fun.

SOTD JM Wood Sage.

Thanks for all the suggestions for my mum. There are a few there that I wear myself, but will investigate the others!

Back in Paradoxe. Tend to keep vintage smelling things for weekends given levels of ageism at work Sad.

Persia I second the Prada Iris one. If you want to try it first the Perfume Parlour do an amazing dupe, it's really close and a lot cheaper if you want to "test" first.

MrsL have added Paradoxe to my wish list!

Judy Some Fab recommendations for your mum, I thought maybe she would like DG Light Blue also?

Fennel very jealous you got to the March! Btw GC folks the consultation has been extended until Monday. I'm sure you all know though

SOTD is PR Ultraviolet from a tester in Boots. I absolutely love this. I don't remember it all - I think I must have had it before but maybe I'm thinking of Lolita Lempicka? The only benefit of a faulty memory is getting nice surprises with stuff you have forgotten. Especially when parcels arrive that you have forgotten ordering

I absolutely need some UltraViolet now. Has anyone tried the Perfume Parlour one? I cannot spend any more money on perfume!

Oh and still loving Wood Fire. Another reason I love this so much is some days I can't remember if I have put perfume on or not and some scents I can't tell from wrist sniffing later in the day, but this one I know I have put it on! I realise this is a niche criteria for deciding Perfume love

Hope everyone is having a lovely scented weekend!
