Had enough of seeing something repeated ad nauseam?

Want to offload when having tried to find good quality, stylish clothes you are instead met with a sea of shit? Epically garish, cheaply manufactured (without the corresponding price tag) and downright tired apply here.

I may be alone in having this need, but may I start by offering..... the rainbow jumper. How to take a perfectly useable piece of cloth and curse it to landfill in nanoseconds.....

Photos of the offenders one and all please 😁.

Just chuckled at that Bluth. So true.

Even the woman from ‘Mid Life Chic’ has gone rogue. This is what middle aged women in this stuff look like.......

Oh Lord, this is so not my thread! Lightening bolt sweat shirt and Love jumper wearer reporting for duty. Am I redeemed by my hatred of everything else mentioned?

Baxdream · 13/09/2018 13:34

Not clothing but men with beards and tattoo sleeves. Yawn.

Causeimunderyourspell · 13/09/2018 13:36

Those red slip on pumps with the leopard print leggings would look nice with a plain black t-shirt I think Blush

StorminaBcup · 13/09/2018 13:38

Ah I see she's dabbled in sport-lux. It's a hard hard look to pull off. I really don't get stripes down the side of trousers, they just end up looking like snide Adidas copies.

notheretoargue · 13/09/2018 13:39

Yy to paperbag waists (is that what they’re called?)

Ocies · 13/09/2018 13:39

Well, I'm with you on most of these. Cold shoulder tops, frills, puffy sleeves... not for me. However, I quite like a star or two, have some wide leg cropped trousers I love and can tolerate a few pom poms.

squishee · 13/09/2018 13:40

Bloomcounty have you watched Idiocracy?

I nominate batwing jumpers. Why ruin a perfectly good jumper like that?

TheHalfBloodPrincess · 13/09/2018 13:41

The ‘naice’ Scarf.

Anything plain or low cut always has to be ‘jazzed up’ with one.

What’s wrong with plain?

Also the joules yellow Mac that everyone and their mother seems to be wearing.

PaulHollywoodsleftbollockhair · 13/09/2018 13:42

Bluth I felt that when I saw the latest gift that’s is John Lewis and Partners style ‘stories’.

The first outfit is reminiscent of raiding the closet of a 4”8 long since passed relly who last bought clothes in 1973 with a garnish of mum’s 80s shoes. When you are 5”10.

Sashay ....

Agree with everything on this thread, it's hard to find stuff that makes you look good and not succumb to the thought that you must just be really boring because you don't want to wear stripey wide leg trousers with sparkly platform trainers and a unicorn frilled jumper.

However, minor shout out for Mint Velvet, where I got this lovely dress: www.mintvelvet.co.uk/product/carla-print-swing-dress/15532

...wore it once for an event, for which it was purchased, and the zipper got stuck down, managed to wriggle it off. MV found me another one and I posted the stuck one back to the store and they posted me the new one, which was good of them as I bought it in HoF!

Causeimunderyourspell · 13/09/2018 13:48

I'd like to add fur (faux or otherwise!) gilets, riding style boots and turtle neck tops to this. I hate each individually but regularly see people sporting all three at once and just die a little inside!

Those weird boots that are like a sock with heels!

Incrediblepregable · 13/09/2018 13:48

Add some mint green to that last set of pics and that’s pretty much HoC ‘s optimistic ‘spring palette’. I was like Shock ‘but... but... I don’t want to look like an 80s tv presenter!’ Drifted off to cream, dove grey and navy then inevitably Back to Black

oohyoudevilyou · 13/09/2018 13:49

Ugg Boots - Yes, I know they aren't technically "fashion" any more (and probably haven't been for at least 5 years), but they are still popular round here. Even worse than the scruffy, baggy look of them is the noise of people walking in them shloop shloop.

And beards. Adds about 10 years and 2 stone to most men. Get a bloody razor!

Incrediblepregable · 13/09/2018 13:49

Ah now c’mon I was thinking of some riding boots!

oohyoudevilyou · 13/09/2018 13:54

Also the joules yellow Mac that everyone and their mother seems to be wearing.

Oh yes! When will Joules realise that that yellow does absolutely nothing for the average pale, mousey-haired Brit that seems to be their demographic?

PaulHollywoodsleftbollockhair · 13/09/2018 13:57

I would nominate every blighting thing from Joules but my mum and Mary Berry do need somewhere to shop.

Sadly some of the more jaunty offerings she has acquired from there refuse to die, a fact she is most pleased about.

I might have to select some contenders, ESPECIALLY that yellow toad of a coat.

VanGoghsDog · 13/09/2018 13:59

Joules - yep, for women who want to look like overgrown toddlers. But it's FUN!

Seasalt has a touch of this and Boden too.

PaulHollywoodsleftbollockhair · 13/09/2018 13:59

Fuck there is even a long version of the specimen.....

ImperfectTents · 13/09/2018 14:17

@vangophsdog that poor woman in the mint velvet dress looks like she ha t her back out struggling with ththe zip

That woman in the paper bag bastards has got a severe case of camel toe.

Eeek. They need to be dissolved in acid.

OP posts:
TheHalfBloodPrincess · 13/09/2018 14:25

I live in a small town, and admittedly there are only 2 other clothes shops other than Joules (and a million charity shops) but it’s almost a uniform - ‘a local coat for local people’

VanGoghsDog · 13/09/2018 14:26

@ImperfectTents

:D

She does! I was able to turn it to the front while I was fiddling with it.

My assistant and I at work often have a good giggle about how bad some women look in clothes modelling. Like the women on this site who look half bored/half dead: www.charliebrear.com/
