Leather leggings - still in fashion?

And for how much longer?

I tend to wear mine with an oversized silk or similar shirt and suede heeled boots on evening and with trainers and a chunky knit during day. I have an oversized cream jumper with holes (intentional ones not moth ones) which looks great with them. I have black, navy and dark brown. The dark brown are actually my favourite. Or at least they were until Theresea May was photographed in a pair (thankfully nothing like mine!).

I have to say as much as I respect Theresa may, she did kill the brown leather trouser as a fashion item, 🤣

TheDowagerCuntess · 09/09/2018 22:20

Oh wow, have just googled the brown leather trouser.

Are they ... flared?

DameDoom · 09/09/2018 22:34

If Ines de la Fressange was wearing Theresa May's trousers they would have looked epic. I think they look a bit naff due to TM's bouffant hair. The same stands for all the Loose Women - dated hair and make-up that automatically makes one look rather shoite, especially in leather. IMO anyway.

I used to love mine. I'm too fat for them now, sad times

chickedychicked · 10/09/2018 08:23

I'm a size 10 but thick of thighs, am I going to look awful in them? Confused. I'm going to get cheap leather look ones from ASOS first to try them out I think.

PenelopeShitStop · 10/09/2018 09:54

I fear I'm getting a but elderly to rock leather leggings which is a shame as I love them and my legs are still good. Instead I've changed to a pair of coated leggings from Mint Velvet, which have a sheen but aren't full on leather. Also George at Asda have almost identical ones for half the price.

I team them with a slouchy jumper that hits mid thigh and ankle boots.

PenelopeShitStop · 10/09/2018 09:56

vérité is your jumper from Zara? Have it too but too scared to wear it as I am definitely middle aged.

ChampooPapi · 10/09/2018 10:07

@FabulousTomatoes yes! I will be channeling you circa 2018 autumn Smile

Bluntness100 · 10/09/2018 10:24

I'm 49. I will still wear mine but as said either in a more elegant way, fine ribbed jumper, polo neck, chunky heeled suede boots, or very casual, sneakers, slouchy cashmere jumper. Not all out kinky sex bomb as I do agree it's one that dressed wrong can look a bit try hard.

This is what I'm looking for...

I team them with a slouchy jumper that hits mid thigh...

Any ideas where can I find one that's not too chunky (& hot!)?

PenelopeShitStop · 12/09/2018 12:24

French Connection are my go-to shop for slouchy jumpers. I like 100% cotton or cashmere as I can't wear real wool.
