I'm 37. Am I too old to wear a hoodie? Mine are all old and a bit rough so I was thinking I'd getting a new one but think I maybe too old now? I want something oversize and comfy (I'm size 12) but fear I should wear something fitted and smart.
Please help Grin

The great advantage of a hoodie is that if it rains and you're out you can just flip the hood up without the bother of trying to cope with a brolly, bags, etc. I'm 63 and feel I look reasonably smart and respectable.

I'm 50 & wear a hoody.
Didn't realise there was an age limit!
Wear what you want. It doesn't matter what people think...as long as you feel comfortable....that's what matters.

SmallestInTheClass · 19/08/2018 12:35

I'm older than you Op and wear them a lot. I do think the obviously branded ones look a bit tacky unless you're a teenager or student, so I'd go for a plain one.

oh god its threads like this that make me feel rotten.now im thinking do people really think we have to be an age to wear a hoodie!
I live in hoodies.and buy mens too sometimes because the fit is much cosier.and have been known to wear my 6ft brothers...heavenly.
I must admit to be rather jealous of the ladies who look so super cool and beautiful and chic in hoodies whatever the fit.you know the type who get up and scrunch there hair up and it looks like they've spent hours on it.and come down looking like Rachel from friends in their long pjs

I wear one with leggings when my boys are playing football outside in Winter. I wouldn't wear a really oversized one though as it would just make me feel really fat

Hoodies definitely have no age limits. It’s all down to personal taste. It’s your life who cares what anyone else thinks. Wear what you feel happy/comfortable in.

SouthernComforts · 19/08/2018 22:26

Hoodies are for everyone. I have about 10 Blush.

FlotSHAMnJetson · 20/08/2018 11:43

Do you remember the program, 10 years younger? And 80% of the ladies used to dress in their husband's old clothes? I fear that is me and my husband's hoodies!

I love them, always have, the big pocket on the front is the best thing ever. Great for dog walking, horse riding or chilling at home. Did I mention the pocket?

I HATE ladies hoodies though, I keep buying them and they are never long enough in the body and just a little too snug on the fit, they must be oversized!

purplegreen99 · 20/08/2018 11:46

I'm over 50 and wear hoodies because they are practical and comfortable. There are some things I wouldn't wear because of my age - hotpants, teeny bikinis and strapless tops spring to mind - but I can't see why anyone would find a hoody inappropriate at any age.

Bloobs · 20/08/2018 11:55

I don't wear them all the time, but I do like a hoodie. I'm nearly 50 and I own a Superdry GLITTERY hoodie. Get me.

I think they can be associated with being depressed or never leaving the house, or wanting to hide your body - at least that was the cliche on those 10 years younger type programmes. And then of course the association with thugs and gang members. It's very outdated though, there are loads of lovely hoodies.

Is a nightmare before Christmas hoodie a step too far

Absolutely not, buy 5.

Mailfuckoff · 21/08/2018 10:18

OK you've convinced me. I'm off too disney shop today to buy one. If you see a 37 year old wearing a nightmare before Christmas hoodie then you will know its me!

Mailfuckoff
I'm late thirties and own a Totoro hoodie, a glow in the dark Ghostbusters hoodie, an r2d2 hoodie and a deadpool hoodie. The last two zip up all the way to the top and have eyeholes in the hood.

Go with your bad self.

Mailfuckoff · 21/08/2018 15:08

Bad news : disney shop didn't have my size. I am still without hoodie :-(
