I'm 37. Am I too old to wear a hoodie? Mine are all old and a bit rough so I was thinking I'd getting a new one but think I maybe too old now? I want something oversize and comfy (I'm size 12) but fear I should wear something fitted and smart.
Please help Grin

My mother's 72 and wears hoodies. She prefers them to cardigans as they keep her ears warm and stop draughts on the back of her neck.
Never occured to me there might be an age limit Smile.

LeftRightCentre · 17/08/2018 14:57

There's no such thing as being too old for an item of clothing.

IJustLostTheGame · 17/08/2018 15:05

There's a hoodie dress on ASOS and I keep looking at it on my wish list....

1forAll74 · 17/08/2018 15:13

I am over seventy, and love hoodies. I wear them to do gardening when its coldish and windy, wear them for walking in the countryside, and going to local shops. Also wear them indoors sometimes,as live in a little old house that is draughty at times

actualpuffins · 17/08/2018 15:18

Don't be daft. I'm 42 and have no intention of stopping wearing hoodies. Especially with pockets. God, how I love clothes with big pockets at the front you can stick your hands in like a nun in a habit.

PrtScn · 17/08/2018 15:56

I wear what I want, when I want, how I want. Who cares what other people think of you.

IJustLostTheGame, a hooded dress you say?

PuntCuffin · 17/08/2018 16:47

I am 46 and didn't know there was an age limit. But you will have to unzip my hoodies off my cold dead body in another decade or 4

Aeroflotgirl · 17/08/2018 16:47

I am 41, I have various hoodies, wear what you like. I prefer hoodies as they are more versatile.

DarlingNikita · 17/08/2018 16:51

I dislike hoodies but only because when zippered up they always make my belly look distorted Just put your hands in the pockets; then it's obvious why your belly is distorted Grin

and I don't like feeling the hood bunched up against the back of me when I'm sitting down against the sofa Hoick it up over your head. Cosy, and another layer of padding if you're slouching.

IJustLostTheGame · 17/08/2018 17:12

Yup. Essentially a knee length hoodie.
I want.

Orangecake123 · 17/08/2018 17:28

Do it!

I lived in hoodies when I was younger, the only reason I don't have one now is because my sister stole it.

cariadlet · 17/08/2018 17:57

Of course you're not too old. I'm 51 and don't wear hoodies for work, but live in them at the weekends/school holidays. My dp and most of my mates (both female and male) are always in hoodies too.

EnidButton · 17/08/2018 18:08

Not at all. I had no idea they had an age limit and I don't mean that sarcastically. I just mean it's never occurred to me that anyone would consider them age inappropriate.
Besides you're 37! That's not even in the 'old' bracket. You're not too old for anything. (Except maybe the kid's ball pool)

I only really wear the two I have for doing garden chores and in the house on lounging around days. Buts that's only because one is old and the other about 4 sizes too big (on purpose).
I have my eye on one from Hush which is hardly for the young 'uns. Grin They have it styled under a leather jacket and I like the look.

Yourenotcrazyitsyourmother · 17/08/2018 18:12

Noooooo! Hoodies are the best!

Yourenotcrazyitsyourmother · 17/08/2018 18:13

Plus I go by the “do you like it? Do you care that others may not like it? No? On your way” school of thought

Yourenotcrazyitsyourmother · 17/08/2018 18:16

I’m now reminiscing about all the glorious hoodies I’ve owned. I think my Machine Head one was my favourite, swiftly followed by a Punky Fish one I got from Flip. Good times

MadisonAvenue · 17/08/2018 18:17

I love a hoodie (I'm 49), they're so cosy and also great for dog walks when it gets cooler. I've got a few plain coloured ones although my favourite is my Green Day American Idiot one, I paid around £40 for it but it's really thick and warm.

FaithEverPresent · 17/08/2018 18:19

My grandmother-in-law is almost 84 and she wears hoodies! I love hoodies, but only zip up ones. I hate the faff of overhead jumpers.

Floisme · 17/08/2018 18:19

What's youthful about a hoody?

Yourenotcrazyitsyourmother · 17/08/2018 18:20

My two favourite hoodies just now 😊😊 I’m 37

To hoodie or not too hoodie
Geekster1963 · 17/08/2018 18:55

I’m 46 and live in hoodies. My favourite one is my running club one, so comfy.

MM18 · 17/08/2018 19:04

Surely hoodies are an essential utility item for everyone, like bras, raincoats, gloves and so on? Not always stylish, but always practical. They can be hot washed and tumble-dried, unlike jumpers. That said, it’s a slippery style slope when you reject beautiful in favour of useful.

ForalltheSaints · 17/08/2018 20:36

I don't want a hug from David Cameron so don't wear one.
