Bayswater a timeless classic but so heavy even without all the crap I carry so I hardly use it!

Whwhywhy · 15/08/2018 22:56

I think my Bayswater is really good quality but I agree actually carrying it is akward. I don’t use when out with the kids for that reason.

No effing way LMAO!
I'd rather go on holiday

StealingYourWiFi · 15/08/2018 22:56

I got the Gucci marmont medium bag. I wear it cross body, it’s super roomy!

Mum2jenny · 15/08/2018 22:57

I wouldn't spend £700-£900 on any bag.

AngelsAckiz · 15/08/2018 22:58

I use a karrimor backpack and it cost £20. I am hands-free and I can put all my stuff in it.
Nuff said

I have a small Mulberry Amberley satchel. It’s lovely but really only fits pursee, phone, keys and lippy. I love it but they do a bigger one if that doesn’t hold enough. Also have a small Chloe Marcie -it’s teeny but a nice bag. Marc Jacobs have some lovely bags but not sure about pricing.

Elvis and Kresse

I'd keep my £12 H&M bag and go to the Caribbean Smile

Those who spend lots on bags - what is the quality like? Do they actually last a lifetime?

wentmadinthecountry · 16/08/2018 00:47

Cakemonger, I have a Prada bag I still regularly use that is much older than my 14yo - used it as her nappy bag. Bought it in Venice probably 18 years ago. (It's subtle, brown and was supposed to look a bit aged when I got it. Have to fight it off dds 1 and 2 now.

I think I get good value out of my bags. Couldn't do non leather (as in fake - wicker.straw all good) but definitely up for non label if good quality.

Jupiter9 · 16/08/2018 00:48

Buy a bag for life from Asda then use the rest for a nice holiday.

wentmadinthecountry · 16/08/2018 00:55

To be fair, I wouldn't buy bags that expensive any more - have 3 or 4 really nice ones. My last (cheaper) purchase at £300 ish from Vivienne Westwood I'm allergic to - handle brings me out in a rash - and what's it all for? These days I'd rather have the fun.

zenasfuck · 16/08/2018 01:18

The new Leighton from mulberry is gorgeous. The small would be ideal for what you want and it has a cross body strap too.

I have my beady eyes on it 😍

Dancergirl · 16/08/2018 03:53

zena I also love the new Leighton in amber Smile

OP I know it’s less than your budget but look at Strathberry - gorgeous bags. Or Manu Atlier for something a bit different.

Or De Mellier London have lovely cross body bags.

TSSDNCOP · 16/08/2018 04:03

I have the Maple; excellent for work/shopping etc, and the Anthony for out and about. Currently covetting the Amberley.

I already have a bench.

Monty27 · 16/08/2018 04:56

I'd upgrade my car. It is after all my shopping bag. theres hundreds of carrier bags in the boot

Louis Vuitton Speedy Bandouliere

GreyGauntlet · 16/08/2018 05:25

The LV Speedy and LV Neverfull are just ubiquitous so I would avoid them. THe Chloe Marcie is gorgeous.

I think Mulberry is very overpriced these days. They have put their prices up recently without an upgrade in quality.

Gucci is so white hot now - but if you want your bag to last 5 years, prob best to avoid.

I would recommend a Balenciaga EveryDay Cabas. Chic, less obvious and yet practical.

Lanaa · 16/08/2018 05:42

If you're prepared to shop around and wait for sales Loewe do some amazing bags. The puzzle, or gate are both beauties.

Nowisthemonthofmaying · 16/08/2018 05:44

I'd add a couple of hundred and get a vintage Chanel classic flap. Chanel bags are a good investment if you look after them as they hold their value really well.

SpeckledyHen · 16/08/2018 06:34

I would buy a pre - loved bag ( or 2) from Labels Most Wanted .

ShirleyPhallus · 16/08/2018 07:39

I'd keep my £12 H&M bag and go to the Caribbean

Those who spend lots on bags - what is the quality like? Do they actually last a lifetime?

  1. Some people have the money to do both
  2. Why would you spend the money for 1 week away when you could spend the money on something beautiful that lasts 20+ years?

I’ve got 2 mulberries and a few others and the Bayswater I’ve used pretty much every day for the last 10/12 years. It’s classic and heardwearing.

I bought it with my first ever bonus yonks ago and was really proud of that. The memories of a holiday would have long but faded by now!

ElspethFlashman · 16/08/2018 07:46

Definitely the LV Speedy Bandouliere. I have one and it fits loads and is very handy. Good resale value.

I think they come in plain leather in some sizes. I have the 30 which is a very practical size.
