How long did your piercings take to heal?

I’ve just had my Daith pierced this morning.
Have wanted it done for months and months but never got round to it and was shitting myself about it too
I LOVE it so much.
I’ve already taken some Ibuprofen as it aches like a MoFo.

I was told that it's 3 months before I can change jewellery and around 9 months to heal completely.

Plughole3 · 31/07/2018 15:02

not as brave, went for a 2nd lobe pierce & was told 3-6m & I could swap the stud at 4-6 weeks. I also want a helix piercing but was told that hurts.

ReckItWralf · 31/07/2018 15:18

I have 3 lobe piercings already, had the 3rd ones done last Friday, just never had a cartilage piercing done before.
DD had Helix done with me today and she said the needle hurt a bit but she barely flinched.

My cartilage piercings all took ages! A year in with my double helix and it still isn’t healed. It doesn’t hurt and I can sleep on it etc but definitely not fully healed.
Officially they say 8/12 weeks but I have never ever healed that fast. Even my lobes took about a year to stop playing up.
I think everyone is different.

I had my daith done this morning as well! How weird!!

I had my nose done last October and it took ages to heal and for the bumps to finally go away. It's been fully healed for a few months now and I absolutely love it.

Hoping the daith will be easier to heal as it's nice and tucked away. Am already planning my next piercing!

Starstruck2020 · 31/07/2018 15:25

I’m seriously considering a rook piercing.. does anyone have experience with that?

JenBarber · 31/07/2018 15:26

My daith took a year to heal.

ReckItWralf · 31/07/2018 15:27

patmustard How weird! It’s not aching as much now it’s been a few hours since it was done.
Hope yours was quick and painless!

I’m done now with piercings (I think!)
Just wanted Daith one for yonks and have watched tons of YouTube videos to see if anyone cried while they had it done!

Daith took about 9 months to heal fully. Post a pic OP when you get the chance. Love my daith piercing. Smile

PatMustardsHairyBaby · 31/07/2018 15:29

I found it more uncomfortable than painful iyswim. Think because it was so close to my head! It's fine now, have a bit of a dull ache on that side of my head but nothing major at all.

Cant wait for it to heal so I can change to some pretty jewellery Smile. Thinking Helix on the other side and second lobes next. It's bloody addictive!!

Oscha · 31/07/2018 15:34

Most of mine took about 6 months to a year. My helix still isn’t and I’ve had it nearly 3 years now.

Mol1628 · 31/07/2018 15:39

oscha glad it’s not just me with the helix taking ages! Mine has been a year so far! And I still get bumps and a lot of crusties.
Crazy thing is I’m going to get another on the opposite side soon.

PatMustard Do you have a photo of yours?

Looks great! I had my rook pierced a couple of years ago but dh hated it so much I ended up taking it out after 3 weeks. Still regret it...Hmm

Got my helIx done about 6 months ago, it’s doing alright but still really sensitive if it gets squashed by someone hugging me!! But then I had a double lobe (re) done last year and that took way longer normal. So I think it depends on your healing...mine is clearly pants!

ReckItWralf · 31/07/2018 15:54

I suppose you forget it’s there and then go in for a hug and knock it
I’m going to go for the formal handshake for the next year or so!

ReckItWralf looks fab, I’m going to get another lobe piercing in one ear this weekend I think.

I was told the helix takes months to heal/not be sore which is putting me off.

Mol1628 · 31/07/2018 16:11

Reckitwralf that looks amazing. Really suits your ear! Haha

ReckItWralf · 31/07/2018 20:11

Thank you!
Ooh @Plughole3 Any idea where you’ll get it?

OP posts:
ReckItWralf · 31/07/2018 20:11

Oh lobe! Sorry didn’t read that properly. Good luck!

Had my rook done last August and I still cannot say it is fully healed - I think it is and then it becomes really swollen again! My tragus took a good while (year plus?) as well but is fine now.

My daughter had her helix done last July and it was healed in about 3 months? She is a quick healer - unlike me!

DramaAlpaca · 31/07/2018 20:26

I had to take my rook out as it just wouldn't heal & kept getting infected. Oh the relief when it was out! Such a shame as I really liked it.

SadieHH · 31/07/2018 20:37

Looks great OP. I had a double helix 8 weeks ago and it doesn't bother me at all now unless someone bashes them. Don't intend to take them out for a while as I like the studs I had put in.

Jonsnowsghost · 31/07/2018 20:40

My daith took a while to heal, I got that as the first then ended up with another 3 in my ear and my nose being done!
The helix took a looong time to heal as it's susceptible to knocks, quickest healing was the conch but I got an anti tragus done and that has taken well over a year to heal, it keeps getting infected but I love it too much to take it out!
