Please help me find a dress for a wedding in September

I am late 40s, 160 cms tall (or 5 foot 2 inches give or take)
About 150 pounds (68 kg) Sad Blush

I'd like something that doesn't cling
I like a dress with a boat neck or 1950 style collar
Half length or three quarter length sleeves
Something at knee or mid calf

I am not at all in the public eye but the bride and groom and their families are very much so

The bride's colors are champagne and blush so obviously those colors are out

Thanks in advance (and if I can order it online that's even better)

Not until you tell us whose wedding it is! Grin

How much money do you want to spend?

TSSDNCOP · 25/07/2018 19:48

Is it Eugenie's?

LadyBrienne · 25/07/2018 21:04

ha - no royalty involved

just don't want to stand next to someone and feel like I'm old, fat, dowdy and plain (which I normally do)

I'd like to stick to under 500

Xmasfairy86 · 25/07/2018 21:08

Coast have a lot of lovely dresses. Haven’t seen this seasons yet but they usuall have a nice variety

LapinR0se · 25/07/2018 21:10

The outnet is your best bet

LadyBrienne · 25/07/2018 21:20

just checked out coast

do you think this is any good?

how about this? too long?

At 5ft 2 I think they will drown you.

You need to look at petite ranges.

LapinR0se · 25/07/2018 21:33

Are you in the states? You can shop the Uk site if you’re in GB.
The length of that dress will drown you and the colour is slightly wintry for sept

SurfnTerfFantasticmissfoxy · 25/07/2018 21:33

Check out 'the ladies maid' on Instagram. She is a stylist who used to work for the Royal family and posts the most gorgeous outfits....

OlennasWimple · 25/07/2018 21:33

that Marchesa dress is lovely but will be too long for you and won't shorten properly (it will be out of proportion)

But the Outnet is a good place to search. Personally I'd steer away from Coast for this event

LapinR0se · 25/07/2018 21:33

What time of day is the wedding and what is the dress code

Hangingaroundtheportal · 25/07/2018 21:35

Dying to know whose wedding this is!

SurfnTerfFantasticmissfoxy · 25/07/2018 21:37

'Lady's maid' apologies for the spelling mistake 😬 Nice brands are Susannah Fashion, Goat London, the Fold etc

SurfnTerfFantasticmissfoxy · 25/07/2018 21:39

Also, Princess Haya of Jordan is a similar height / shape / age so good to google for style info as she always looks amazing

MoltonSilver · 25/07/2018 21:42

The dresses you like aren't any of these things that you said you wanted.

Are you open to any style?

OlennasWimple · 25/07/2018 21:46

Some suggestions:

Missoni

Marchesa

Vanessa Seward (you could prob get it shortened easily if necessary)

Badgely mischka if you want floor length

TIBI

Catherine Deane

LegoPiecesEverywhere · 25/07/2018 21:47

What colours suit you? Do you like your legs? Do you like your waist? Do you have small or large boobs?

You are not old!

IWouldLikeToKnow · 25/07/2018 21:53

Some lovely suggestions there Oleannas, I think the Catherine Deane and Marchesa in particular look very appropriate. Love the Marchesa but may not look great with larger boobs if that's an issue OP
