Good genes from my mum's side, as I'm not ageing that much.
My mum used to been mistaken for my older sister couple years ago.
But good moisturising cream and good amount of sleep defo helping too.😅

Ski40 · 24/06/2018 16:48

When I was in my late twenties people thought I was a teenager.😮 Now I'm 43 and people tend to put me in my early thirties.
Combination of:
Being quite short and having a rounded face ( no wrinkles!!!)
Having very young children (people seem to assume I'm younger for it)
Hardly any make up on weekdays and a long, kind of messy blonde bob, quite young clothes. I barely go out so never get to glam up. 😞
Stay out of the sun- and never smoked.
I'm told I also have a very young sounding voice. That's actually pretty annoying as I find people tend to patronize me for it.

The only things I consciously do to look young are drink lots of water, take omega 3 capsules and wear contacts as my glasses age me a lot!

olderthanyouthink · 24/06/2018 16:52

Judging by (half) my family being black, no sun damage and oily skin (my dads swears by his greasy face). The saying black don't crack is pretty true, they don't have much in the way of wrinkles.

My dad (54) gets mistaken for my BF or DH, my nan (70) gets mistaken for my aunt or mum. I look about 17 but I'm 22.

MakeItStopNeville · 24/06/2018 16:58

Have kids later on. If you have them young, your face ages quicker....at least that's what my face is telling me! Grin

MelissaElderflower · 24/06/2018 17:02

MakeItStopNeville- truth, truth.😂

Well going against the grain here, but I smoke and drink wine yet people still are surprised at my age. Women ask me if I've had "work" and yes I admit that I have had botex and fillers. In my late 30's I was a size 12 doing little exercise as my life evolved around the children.
Got a Fitbit thing and started measuring steps and regularly do an hour walk of around 18,000 steps as my job was static. Dropped to a size 8.
I do try and eat atleast "5 a day" including blueberries and avocados and spinach but I love a bar of Galaxy too!
However a lot of it is genetics I believe, my mum has a boyfriend who is 20 years her junior and my mum likes a drink, they've been together years! and do look suitably matched ( not like a mother and son)
I'm 50, maybe if I didn't drink wine and smoke I might look 35 but I enjoy it! The botex and fillers make me look less tired!

Good genes, oily skin. I don't smoke anymore (apart from very very occasionally) and walk an awful lot as I don't drive. But I do drink (though rarely to excess these days), eat too much sugar, never use sunscreen and definitely don't get enough sleep or rigorous exercise. So it's gotta be the genes. I'm 40 but look late 20s

JaceLancs · 24/06/2018 19:03

Having olive oily skin
Not too skinny as my bit of fat plumps out my face so no wrinkles
I don’t wear make up but do have my eyelashes dyed and keep brows tidy
Regular hair cut and root touch ups
Use intensive hair treatments as my hair has dried out as I’ve aged
Eat healthy
Exercise

RoseWhiteTips · 24/06/2018 19:07

I don’t sunbathe.

If I am out in strong holiday sun, I wear Factor 50!!

I don’t smoke.

I don’t drink except wine but only on social
occasions

I have good genes.

I always wear a light foundation.

I am pretty much vegetarian.

I am child free - by choice.

RoseWhiteTips · 24/06/2018 19:13

Plus:
I like clothes and wear what suits me.
I wear make up but it is never slathered on.
I do not obsess about my skin; less is more.
My hair is not short.
I don’t have the gym bunny face.

Beebiesandcheebies · 24/06/2018 19:17

What's wrong with short hair?

RoseWhiteTips · 24/06/2018 19:18

It makes people look older.

halfwitpicker · 24/06/2018 19:20

Drink loads of water.
As much sleep as possible.
Not much alcohol.
Pardon the instagram parlance but clean eating. Not much sugar. Loadsa veg.
Exercise.
Stay out of the sun.

halfwitpicker · 24/06/2018 19:21

God yes smoking, do NOT smoke. Awful awful awful.

halfwitpicker · 24/06/2018 19:22

Be a healthy weight too : when I'm a size 10 I look 30, when I'm a 16 I look 45.

I'm 36.

surferjet · 24/06/2018 19:23

Yes, good nights sleep & as stress free a life as possible!

CloudCaptain · 24/06/2018 19:27

Good genetics. Don't smoke. Do drink. Like to get a bit of colour from the sun but never burn. Lots of moderate exercise.
I eat what I want but have always been slim except after pregnancy it's taking a bit of work to get off now.
Looked like a child until I was mid 20's though.
Dh also did apparently so our kids are gonna look very much younger.

slug · 24/06/2018 19:47

Definitely sun exposure is aging. I moved to the UK in my mid 20s but kept the habits of a pale skinned Celt growing up in NZ i.e. sunblock, sunglasses, shade and hats. I was in NZ earlier this year and, in my mid 50s, my skin looked 10 years younger than my siblings and friends.

skippy67 · 24/06/2018 19:52

Never smoked. Eat what I like when I like. Hardly any grey hair, i got mistaken for my 21yo ds's "missus" today! Lots of melanin by virtue of my Caribbean heritage. It's true, black don't crack!

skippy67 · 24/06/2018 19:55

Also, I've always, always used moisturiser on my face and body.

parklives · 24/06/2018 20:15

I assume most people think they look younger than their actual age don't they?

When I am slim people think I am younger than my actual age, but alas my current weight of 3 stone over my ideal is very ageing .... middle-aged spread, rather than young and juicy!

LizzieSiddal · 24/06/2018 20:21

It’s luck!

I and my dbrother have fab genes from my paternal grandma and my dad.
When in my 20s and 30s it was so irrelevant and boring to have people comment on my age but in my 50s I now appreciate the comments.

whiskeysourpuss · 24/06/2018 20:22

Be a healthy weight too : when I'm a size 10 I look 30, when I'm a 16 I look 45.

I'm the complete opposite.. at a size 10 I look awful - all drawn in & gaunt - yet at between a 14/16 I look & feel much better

IRememberSoIDo · 24/06/2018 20:24

Don't really drink as it doesn't agree with me, don't smoke but mainly I think it's lucky genetics on both sides of my family. Dad late 80's and people thinks he's in his 70's.
