Am I too old for this hair?

I have boring shoulder-length hair. I've been getting it highlighted blonde for years but it's boring. I

I need a change, maybe something quite drastic.

A hairdresser near me has posted this on her facebook page and I love the vivid pink. I can't stop looking at it.

But am I too old? I'm 34 with young children. I'm not very funky in my dress sense. I would like to change that but I'm not sure how so I'm now thinking that ridiculous new hair will either be enough to make me feel funky or will give me the boost up to get some new funky clothes.

Do it. You're not too old at all

MrsPMT · 04/06/2018 14:51

Not at all, my DSis is 48 and still has colourful hair, she's also very trendy. I love seeing colourful hair, go for it!

IamXXHearMeRoar · 04/06/2018 14:52

It's just hair so you can grow it out if you change your mind. Today is the youngest you will ever be...

isthismylifenow · 04/06/2018 14:53

Most definitely not too old. Do it.

One question you need to consider.
Do you like it enough to want it. If yes do it.

Personally I'm not keen on pink hair but that is of no consequence! If it makes you happy do it.

Liz38 · 04/06/2018 14:54

Do it! It grows out, if you don't like it you can change it back or go for something different again! Life's too short to be too old to do something.

Pfftlife · 04/06/2018 14:54

Looks lovely. I'm nearly 38 and have bright lilac hair just now. Don't worry about your age, if it makes you feel good that's all that matters

hungryhippie · 04/06/2018 14:54

I think you will look great! Definitely not too old.

JesusTapdancingChrist · 04/06/2018 14:55

I'm 38 and have pastel pink hair. Have had purple, red and blue in the past.

Life's too short for mousy hair! Do it!

NeedADrasticChange · 04/06/2018 14:56

Today is the youngest you will ever be...

Shock

I really love this hair but it's at a hairdressers I haven't been to before so that makes me a bit nervous.

I need to be braver- go to the new place and say 'make me funky'

Sorry, I don't like it. I like your blonde hair. Whenever I see people with coloured hair it always looks scrappy. Roots showing and needs a brush through.

I guess there will be definite roots showing if you decide to go ahead....

MikeUniformMike · 04/06/2018 14:56

The shape will need regular trimming and the colour might need upkeep, otherwise go for it.

IamXXHearMeRoar · 04/06/2018 14:57

Well you could take your time, stalk the place for a few days and watch the done clients leave - skills analysis.

Or just say what the hell and go for it. Sometimes those decisions need to be made.

NeedADrasticChange · 04/06/2018 14:58

Hillingdon I really like roots showing on all-over coloured hair. I think it looks fabulous. I can't explain why Grin

You ca try wash out due first to see how it looks on you if you want.

NeedADrasticChange · 04/06/2018 15:26

@Racecardriver I get where you're coming from but if I'm gonna do it I want to just take the plunge IYSWIM

I'm going to call the hairdressers and book an appointment now.

Good for you. Let's see when it's all done

Btw I like the roots growing in look too

SorenLorensonsInvisibleFriend · 04/06/2018 15:29

Go for it!

(I'm 38 with deep blue/purple pixie hair, I love it.)

GinnyWreckin · 04/06/2018 15:31

Bright pink, blue and purple are last year.

This years funky colour is more pastel unicorn colors.
Try a pastel apricot if you’re warm coloured, pale sea foam, or candy floss pink if cool coloured.

BiscuitsRule · 04/06/2018 15:36

It’s not really about wether you’re too old. It’s more about have you got the right face structure to carry it? Some styles flatter some people and not others. Your age really doesn’t play a part in it at all.

SamanthaBrique · 04/06/2018 15:44

The colour looks good but the cut is a bit Tony & Guy hairdressing student.

SorenLorensonsInvisibleFriend · 04/06/2018 15:45

Go for whatever colour makes you excited and suits your face. It's ridiculous to bow to people declaring fashion trends (on hair colour!) when you're doing something fun and expressive just for yourself. I've had indigo hair for nearly two years now and I wouldn't give it up as it's part of me now, suits me better than my normal brown ever did!

SorenLorensonsInvisibleFriend · 04/06/2018 15:46

Also, go on Pinterest for loads more ideas for cut and colour shades. And get a free consultation with your stylist to really clarify exactly what you want and what will suit you. Good luck, please post photos if you love it!

twotallgiraffes · 04/06/2018 15:48

I'm 40 and have brightly coloured hair. Go for it!

NeedADrasticChange · 04/06/2018 15:48

I'm not as fussed on the cut as the colour.

I'm booked in for a consultation on Monday next week Grin
