Obv very identifying but I’m beyind caring!

Some of you may have seen my “fat and going to a wedding” thread, wedding is Friday and have been colour matched with this red lippy...I think it’s too bright! What do you lovely people think? Looking for honest answers. Doesn’t help that dh started singing the circus theme tune when I showed him!

I think that the lipstick could work, but the black eyeliner is too dark for your complexion and hair colour. A brown eyeliner or dark grey would be more complimentary.

Black /purple eyeliner = black and dark brown hair

Brown /grey eyeliner = blonde and light brown hair

Every other colour= all

Wellfuckmeinbothears · 09/05/2018 12:26

Right this is it with foundation

I love it (as in the with foundation pic). I think it works, and with the black eyeliner, because your foundation looks very sheer and natural and the eyeliner is only on your top lid. IMO you only have to be careful about eyeliner colour if you're using it on your bottom lid (or as DD says, the Pirate Effect).

I think the poppy red lipstick is lovely - I am a Winter and use blue toned red usually but in the summer with a bit of a tan I use more orangey reds like yours. I don't think you always have to stick to the 'rules'.

What foundation are you using btw?

BadTasteFlump · 09/05/2018 12:43

PS you have lovely eyes - and your brows are fine as they are. Don't let anybody talk you into Scousebrowing them Grin

Jozxyqk · 09/05/2018 12:44

You look lovely, but I agree it's a bit too orange for you. You're very similar colouring to me & I would wear a much cooler red.

RiskIt4Biscuit · 09/05/2018 12:46

I think it looks really good on you!

If you're not used to wearing red lipstick, then it's not uncommon that (your DH or) you'd think it's too much/too bright/looks weird/has a circus vibe. But it's just because it's different than what you usually see in the mirror. I felt like that when I started wearing bright lipsticks as well.

If you think the colour is a bit too much, then you could wear it as a stain on the lips, rather than full on. It's a good way to get used to seeing oneself with bright lipsticks as well.

It looks to me that the lipstick is a warm toned/orange red, which I think suits you well - to me, it looks like your skin generally is warm/yellow toned, and the orange/warmer tones will look more in sync with your skin, whereas a blue/cool toned lipstick will be more of a statement (which also looks amazing).

I was going g to say that a more berry, less orange shade would work better for you. But with foundation you look great.
Enjoy yourself.

WowserBowser · 09/05/2018 12:50

You have a lovely face, hair and smile. I like it in the second set of photos. Wasn't a fan with the first - I was agreeing with the orange camp.

CottonSock · 09/05/2018 12:52

You look lovely. Take the more bold one for the evening?

CottonSock · 09/05/2018 12:53

Sorry, is it actually same one? Looks different

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 09/05/2018 12:56

Looks good.

Don’t change a thing.

BrightonCalling · 09/05/2018 12:56

It suits you but I would prefer it with a stronger brow and none of the winged eyeliner thing.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 09/05/2018 12:57

Are you wearing a red dress ?

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 09/05/2018 12:59

Sorry OP, just seen the above pic, with your foundation on, I think you look great !

Wellfuckmeinbothears · 09/05/2018 13:05

Thank you everyone so much for your opinions and advice and for putting up with umpteen photos! Feeling confident to wear it now, even dh has said it looks good with the foundation and dress.

I love it, and think the contrast of the orange tone with your cooler complexion actually looks really good. It does look different in the second lot of photos though, I guess it's the lighting?

If you did want something pinker this is a Bourjois rouge velvet I have in 'It's Redding Men'. I think these lipsticks are so underrated, I have about 7 of them!

I like it, it keeps it summery and fresh for a May/summer wedding.

ToftheB · 09/05/2018 13:37

You look really lovely! And don’t mess about with your eyebrows, they suit you just the way they are.

Wellfuckmeinbothears · 09/05/2018 13:40

I think they’re fab lipsticks and such a good price! I love the redding men one, did you get it recently? X

Baubletrouble43 · 09/05/2018 14:31
