Bank Holiday Wardrobe Clearout

KarenfromFinance · 06/05/2018 08:56

Currently my bedroom is in a horrific state. Clothes and shoes everywhere. My wardrobe is similarly horrendous.

I regularly find myself using precious holidays in an attempt to declutter / sort but never seem to get the job finished.

Determined that tomorrow (Bank Holiday Monday) will be the last holiday spent trying to sort the bedroom of doom.

Anyone out there to chum me for tomorrow's marathon? I am aiming to post a pick of the finished decluttered wardrobe for accountability.

I have made a list of things I love and plan to cull to 150 items including shoes, scarves, belts etc. I'm not including underwear, nightwear or sports clothes in that figure. I know that's still a lot compared to Project 333 but I think it's realistic for me. It will be the kick start to a year's shopping ban during which time the number will hopefully reduce further, then I will go for a strict one in , one out policy.

It's my 49 th birthday this week and I want to have a year of sorting my shit out, house, excercise etc so I feel I've made a lot of positive changes before reaching 50. I would love to live in a more minimalistic, eco way I the next decade.

Looks tidy and trimmed. Was it easier to find something to wear today?

CiderwithBuda · 08/05/2018 16:51

That looks fantastic. Well done. I’m doing mine but bit by bit. I have so much stuff I never wear. Partly because a lot of it doesn’t fit.

I’m on the Decluttering one thing a day thread and that’s helped loads.

Still got a long way to go.

I have now taken 4 bags of clothes to charity, plus a bag of toys and box of kids books. Sorted out some kids clothes/stuff to pass on, packed up older child's clothes and added age-labels so I know what is in each bag. Got rid of a few handbags and packed up old bras to go to a specific bra recycling place.

I now have a pile of quality-brand kids clothes to eBay and a pile of my clothes (still with the labels attached Blush) to put on.

Still have a house full of crap but fewer clothes to wade through - now have to buy a couple of bits to replace what I've thrown out (!) and I'm done. Project 333 should be easy this year Wink

That looks awesome, well done! I need to get started on my own stuff, I've lost weight and need to remove all the stuff that's flapping about on me for starters. There's a lot to do haha!

KarenfromFinance · 08/05/2018 17:29

Ladywithlapdog yes much much easier to find something to wear. In fact I wore something which prior to yesterday I thought was lost. Which in a sense it was Smile
I can also see potential outfits / combinations which I hadn't thought of before. Good job because now I am on a spending ban!

Itscurtains sounds like you've done brilliantly. I still need to get my charity stuff to the shop at some point this week. I've left it in the hallway so it will not get forgotten about.

Poshpenny thank you. Still got a home office to gut now. You're right - it never ends.
