Wellies for Big Calves

Please help me,

I really need some wellies and have been trying to buy some since October but everywhere I've looked has either been out of stock in my size (5) or not had any I could get my legs into. I'm starting to go a bit insane.

I have VERY muscular calves and so struggle to get wellies on most of the time, but I really need some. I prefer not to buy online as I can't try them on but if someone could tell me a brand which caters for super-massive-calves then I would maybe give it a go.

any suggestions?

p.s. I can't afford Hunters.

I have wide calves (17.5 inches) with size 6 feet and got some cheap and cheerful ones from Shoezone. Not the most stylish footwear I have ever owned but do the job!

I saw some the other day in The Original Factory Shop - not sure how big a chain it is, or whether they're online, but the wider wellies were cheap and a good range too.

Joules 3/4 wellies are very generous on the calves.

I’ve got some excellent 3/4 ones from Decathlon that sit neatly below my own enormous calves

our local Shope zone, supermarkets and Deichmann etc have all been out of stock of size 5s for months. When I've asked they've said they don't expect to get any more willies in until the autumn.

Unfortunately those short ones are something I've had before and they're just not practical as the mud in our patch can get very deep and we get quite a lot of road flooding that I have to walk through. I don't need waders or anything! Grin but those ankle ones would be just too short for some situations.

I will go hunting now for Joules 3/4 ones. thanks for the suggestions.

ARGH! the Joules website is out of stock of size 5 in ALL their mid length willies.

Dunlop from farm shops etc
They are not pretty, but they are wide and do the job well.

I bought a pair from a company called Jileon, but they're not cheap (presumably because their market is limited to people with big calves).

I also have a pair of calf-length Dunlop ones, which are great. I'm a size 7.5 so i ordered an 8 but they come up quite big, so I put sheepskin insoles in them.

I can now enjoy walking in puddles as if i were five Grin

P.S. My calves are huge, so if the Dunlops are okay for me I'm sure they'll fit you!

My calves are 18 inches around. would your dunlops cope with that @Missingthesea ? the ones I've just found had a calf circumference of 16 inches.

I'm kind of place marking as I also have muscular calves and my 20 yr old hunter wellies are very tight.

I'm also sniggering at your phone autocorrecting "wellies" to "willies" op GrinGrinGrin

Have a look in Go Outdoors , they’re online as well , they have a reasonable selection including Dunlop’s which are wide of calf .

Look at 'wide calf wellies' on Amazon.

I've got a pair of calf-height Dunlops that have been excellent. I can't get my legs into standard wellies, let alone tuck my trousers in.

I have some hunters that have a lace up bit so wider than most. Got them over 20 years ago at TKMaxx though - what about these?

My calf is nearly 18”. A friend gave me a pair of jileon and the calf is great . However they a size smaller than my foot but I just wore for the snow .

My daughter wears half length brier wellies . She said they most comfortable boots ever .

Ilse Jacobsen lace up wellies are accommodating for those large of calf, but the soles don't wear particularly well. Nice style though.

Muck boots style (neoprene calves). lots of cheaper makes about too.

I have big calves. I bought muckboots, they are neoprene from the ankle so warm and with a good bit of give but still waterproof. Bought mines from amazon so were a third less than in the shops. Still not cheap but I've had them two years and they are still going strong. Live rurally so they've seen a lot of use.
