Is my pale pearl nail varnish nice or naff (with pic)?

I think I like it, but seem to remember I had something like in approx 1991 and had not seen it bring worn on anyone since! Maybe there's a reason for that!
What's the verdict please, nice or naff?

I like it but it doesn't really matter what other people think - they are your nails and if you think it's pretty, then that's good enough.

Sorry OP I’m not a fan, but if you like it that’s more than enough reason to continue using it.

I like it. I do think nail varnish is a bit meh on its own though and actually only really looks great when teamed with either coordinating or matching colours within an outfit or make up.

It's a little uneven on your third and fourth fingers, but if it makes you smile when you look at your hands then it's perfect.

I wear this colour too sometimes but on short nails to keep it more modern?

I had this for my wedding. Probably would go for more of a taupe colour day to day, but if you like it, crack on!

I really don't like it, I don't think it's very flattering on you and yes it is outdated.

That said, I'm not the one wearing it and it's just nail varnish, if you like it then you should wear it. I doubt anyone will notice in real life. Not enough to judge it like we are anyway.

Nail shoe then? I only ask as one of the teens at school said something similar about a member of staff having 'old fashioned nails'

it's a timeless color, it was my fave in the 70's when wanted that classic put together look. my mom remembers similar shades from the 1940's when she was growing up.

I like it, but then I am 50 and wear glitter polish almost daily so my taste is suspect.

I have no particular opinion about the colour either way but cut you nails shorter so they don't project beyond your finger, short nails are much more fashionable than talons.

The nail length and colour are both very unflattering and dated.

There are loads of lovely neutral nail polish shades out there that don't have that 1990s shimmer to them Essie have quite a few; Ballet Slippers and Fairy Tailor are my favourites.

Those pale shimmery pearlescent polishes always have naff streaky finishes.

I’d cut them short and go for this:

I don't like polishes that cause streaks, so I'm not keen. I think that kind of shimmer can look nice but it needs to be a better quality polish. Check out the brand a-england, they do some lovely shimmery polishes that are much more modern. Google for swatches on nails.

Current long nail shape trends are only really acheivable with acrylics (or very, very strong natural nails). Either wear them shorter, or go with what your nails are happy doing.

I love it and the shape of your nails. Why are people saying the shape is outdated? What are nails supposed to look like these days?

buzz what's a more modern shape? I regularly have a gel polish and my tech told me this is 'almond', maybe I've just shaped them badly myself?
I don't like the stiletto/ coffin shape either.

I see women with nails that long, and longer, and all I can think is 'how do they change their tampon?'
'how do they not stab their baby in the eye'?
etc etc

They're not almond shaped. Almond is pointy at the end. Personally, I hate that shape.
