What do you wear around the house?

As soon as I'm in the house I immediately change into my "comfy" clothes. This usually being an old, loose t shirt, leggings and trainer socks (with fake uggs when walking around). Also the hair goes up and the bra comes off. If I get chilly, I wear my grey boyfriend cardigan.

Basically, presentable enough to answer the door/go outside with the dog, but I wouldn't want to go outside and meet people like this. I'm curious what others wear to relax in around the house :)

Well clearly I’m a complete slob. I only ever wear leggings or baggy harem trousers, with a vest top and then either light, thin/thick chunky jumper over the top. I also decided to stop wearing a bra about 3 months ago. Mainly because I am only a B cup, can only afford crappy primary bras and they are so uncomfortable considering I don’t have much that needs holding up. I’m not sure what I’ll do in summer when I’ll be more paranoid about the nips being on show. I am now a SAHM and I kind of miss having work as a reason to get dressed up, but at the same time the Mum Tum means I’m only comfortable with an elasticated waist!

Bluntness100 · 27/02/2018 21:56

Winter it's leggings vest top and jumper and summer it's shorts and vest or t shirt. I tend only to put make up on if I'm going out or expecting people. My hair is usually down but if needing a wash I plait it.

I couldn't wear my jeans or work clothes inside. I change immediately. Just too uncomfortable. I do wear denim shorts in the house in summer though snd am comfy in them, prob as they are looser.

I wear the mint velvet leggings which come with a short skirt attached. So tops don't have to be long and they cover your modesty/arse and are flattering as leggings on their own with your arse on display are seldom a good look 🤣

FiremanSamsPole · 27/02/2018 21:58

Fat face harem trousers and a vest top. In winter I wear fluffy socks and an old hoody too.

Heartofglass12345 · 27/02/2018 22:18

Leggings and a vest top, i put a belvia bra on underneath. I probably look a complete state doing the school run, but i'm only out of the car for a few mins so its pointless dressing up. I put a real (and very uncomfortable) bra on and a dress with leggings if i'm going out, and count down the hours until i can go home and take my bra off lol

JaceLancs · 27/02/2018 22:23

Whatever I’ve been wearing all day but with a cardigan on top
As I can’t afford much heating and where I work is always too far the other way
Layering is the solution

FiremanSamsPole · 27/02/2018 22:23

I meant as well not just socks and a hoody!

Betsy86 · 27/02/2018 22:24

Exact same here! Except i have no DP lol. Comfy pj trousers are alwys on at home x

BitOutOfPractice · 27/02/2018 22:25

FiremanSamsPole that's a look to conjure with Grin

Oly5 · 27/02/2018 22:28

Yoga pants with a vest and some sort of hoody.. a fleece lined one in winter

CAAKE · 27/02/2018 22:29

A description of what I wear around the house does not belong on a "Style and Beauty" thread.

user1499786242 · 27/02/2018 22:30

Pyjamas as soon as I get home, and usually a dressing gown aswell!
Bra off
Hair up

The postman must think I'm a complete slob but I don't care!

Scoleah · 27/02/2018 22:38

If I've been out all day, & know I don't need to go anywhere I'll come home, put Pj bottoms on & dressing gown over my Top.

Otherwise I get dressed, so school run etc, come home & put dressing gown over My clothes & get my slippers on 😁

essietopcoat · 27/02/2018 22:39

If I've been wearing tights and a skirt or work trousers I'll change into jeans.

I don't own any leggings and haven't done since the early 90s - they didn't suit me then and they aren't going to now.

Ollivander84 · 27/02/2018 22:45

Pjs, usually ASOS ones or comfy joggers and a vest top. Molke bra, fluffy socks

LemonysSnicket · 27/02/2018 22:57

Pyjamas

In from work - pyjamas on.
I only put in clothes to leave the house.

Loonoon · 27/02/2018 23:19

BlueEyedWonder. I am half you, half a slob. I will happily spend the day in trackies, uggs and a warm jumper but will always have blow dried hair, some basic make up and mascara on.

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 27/02/2018 23:39

if its cold then pjs with a fleece onesie over the top of them. In summer its usually pj shorts and vest or short sleeved t-shirt. I don't wear bras at home unless is TOTM when they get sore so need some extra support. I hate being uncomfortable and if i know i'm not going out, I just don't bother getting 'properly' dressed. I am always decently and adequately covered though so I wouldn't be ashamed or embarrassed to answer the door

Nixee2231 · 28/02/2018 00:32

Life is too short to not be comfortable at home. All the more power to the people who actually CAN wear work/proper clothes at home and be comfy but I feel really sorry for those who feel like they HAVE to, to keep up appearances for their SO/mailman/etc

MontyPythonsFlyingFuck · 28/02/2018 00:42

Currently, lilac cashmere yoga trousers (which look HIDEOUS) and a heat tech top with long cashmere jumper over the top. I feel like this weather is what I've been hoarding cashmere for all this time. Oh, and cashmere socks and snood, too.

When I have to go into the office tomorrow (bah), flappy hippy luxe dress from East, with heattech underneath and long merino cardigan over, thermal tights and Timberland boots as I'm terrified of falling over. May take ballet pumps in, as boots aren't too comfy on the ankles.

Basically, if it's cold, I'm just a gigantic heattech and cashmere egg from about October to April.

PhylisMcFee · 28/02/2018 01:10

I dress as though something exciting might happen at any moment:) I’m always secretly disappointed though, sadly.

I wear a dress usually with heels or boots and do my make up, hair, I do wfh a lot but it’s the same look. I don’t feel uncomfortable at all.

I do wear jeans and a t shirt for housework, or casual dress with flat shoes, but change immediately when it’s all done.

BlueEyedWonder · 28/02/2018 05:53

@Loonoon Yes, I always have my hair and makeup done too! The only time I’m in leggings is if I’m going running.

And, no, it’s not because I feel I HAVE to look done for my husband or the neighbours or the mailman. It’s just honestly never occurred to me to go to the bother of changing when I get home from work!

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 28/02/2018 06:21

Similar OP although I couldn’t be braless. Leggings or joggers, thick socks, ugg slippers. I sometimes wear fleeces or hoodies, but more generally a jumper.

Loonoon · 28/02/2018 08:30

I have a bright pink cashmere onesie that I save for very cold weather. I think it might get an outing today.

LightastheBreeze · 28/02/2018 09:27

Cords which aren’t tight, tunic or check shirt, big long cardigan, generally bought from Next clearance, when they are really cheap I get a few, slipper boots from Marks as they have proper soles

ferrier · 28/02/2018 11:01

But they're (leggings) horrible things and I don't understand why people wouldn't rather have jeans or trousers

Because jeans are not comfortable.
And my arse looks great in leggings. Grin
