Does this dress look ok? I’ve had it for a while...🤨

Right I’ve an event to go to and I don’t really want to buy a new dress for it.

Everything I own bar this dress is really frumpy looking on me😳

My life is skinnies and tops now rushing about with the children, anyhow...

Reasons I’m not sure:
I think I look really pale, I cannot be bothered with putting loads of fake tan on.

I’ll have hair and makeup done but I think it looks very plain.
It has a rose gold zip and my shoes are yellow gold, I’ll definitely not be buying new shoes!
I bought the dress a couple of years back from Ted Baker but I’m worried the cold shoulder look is passé now.

I know my stomach isn’t that big but I think the dress draw attention to it?

Event is on Wednesday, will this do? Opinions please?

Many thanks

Looks absolutely gorgeous (in itself, and on you!)

GlubGlubGlub · 18/02/2018 19:27

You look beautiful. Only thing I would possibly change is the shoes. I think black would be better but the gold ones are fine.

WhiffOfBath · 18/02/2018 19:27

PS No fake tan. You look lovely as you are. And the dress is not dated.

GlubGlubGlub · 18/02/2018 19:28

No fake tan either. You have lovely skin.

sportyfool · 18/02/2018 19:29

What's dated about it ? 🙄

bluemoonchances · 18/02/2018 19:31

Agree with TipsyTiger , dress look fab, it's a classic timeless style. I think the gold glittery shoes cheapen the look though, go black strappy sandal or bright coloured heeled shoe. Bracelet, drop earring, no necklace, bright lipstick.
Your figure looks fab in that dress.

TwinklyGiraffe · 18/02/2018 19:31

So not dated then?
Def no fake tan?

The dress is navy and I've no navy shoes! These are the only thing I have that are remotely matching 🙁

The dress is gorgeous, classic and really suits you.

bluemoonchances · 18/02/2018 19:36

Def not frumpy, looks gorgeous Smile

WhiffOfBath · 18/02/2018 19:38

Twinkly, no to fake tan and dateness! And stick with the shoes. You look absolutely beautiful...

AiryFairy1 · 18/02/2018 19:38

I have this exact dress and I always feel a million bucks in it! Your gold shoes look fab. I wore some M&S shaping tights in nude that weren’t too shiny and were fine. Agree with no fake tan!! Enjoy your event Smile

LizzieSiddal · 18/02/2018 19:38

I too think it looks absolutely fab and classic.

But the shoes let it down. Maybe go a bit darker?

LizzieSiddal · 18/02/2018 19:40

Sorry! Ignore me about the shoes

I didn’t realise they were gold, I thought they were silver. They look fine!

WhiffOfBath · 18/02/2018 19:41

Agree re M&S tights (or hold-ups, in my case, as I can't bear tights).

Love your name, LizzieSiddal!

OCSockOrphanage · 18/02/2018 19:44

No fake tan, but please not black shoes with a navy dress (too work-ish). Red, pink, orange, blue, patent, crystal... in any shape that words, beg, borrow or steal. The gold ones would be okay if all else fails. I don't think the clash between rose and yellow gold is a catastrophe, especially if you can find a cheap bridge. And the dress looks faaab!

TwinklyGiraffe · 18/02/2018 19:53

Would these shoes look ok?

I don’t mind £25

Thistlebelle · 18/02/2018 19:58

The dress is lovely and flattering.

No one will notice the zip.

Some nice jewellery will make it see less plain.

Don’t you dare use fake tan, your natural skin tone is gorgeous.

TwinklyGiraffe · 18/02/2018 20:01

OR when browsing I found these red and rose gold shoes which would solve one of my original dilemmas but also mean I’m spending money!

Thanks for saying I’ve a nice skin tone😳 I was always the one covered in fake tan, couldn’t get more orange really but since hitting mid thirties, I really cannot be bothered.

it looks good. I think youll get years more out of that dress

thehairyhog · 18/02/2018 20:09

Can’t see the red & gold shoes but the nude ones are much better than the gold glitter!

It is all a bit safe/plain, BUT you look lovely, and classic.

TwinklyGiraffe · 18/02/2018 20:10

Sorry link for the shoes not working properly, it’s these ones

TwinklyGiraffe · 18/02/2018 20:14

Thanks to anyone who is still interested😬

Could I ask how this dress compares to the one in my original post?

Sorry for all the questions!

I was dubious when you said cold shoulder as I have always hated those, but your dress is lovely. I’d definitely go with the nude shoe you posted. If you can’t face going totally bare legged, what about one of the gradual tan moisturisers? And I agree, you need to stand much more confidently. Every reason to, you look fantastic.

EbonyJade · 18/02/2018 20:18

I like the original dress with the nude shoes - classy & elegant.
