WWW's six week 10 year younger boot camp, all welcome, WEEK FIVE

Week 5 of the third boot camp of 2007, everyone is welcome.

The rules (anyone can join):

This is about feeling better about yourself...not necessarily a diet per se etc etc

  • Sunscreen at all times. I know it's winter, there are still rays trying to damage your skin
  • No or little booze. Wine at the weekend is allowed if you want it
  • Walking is important, a small amount every day if possible. 30 mins if you can
  • Lots of water, aim for 2 litres a day
  • Apply body cream as often as possible
  • Use hand cream
  • Go to bed early, by 10.30pm if pos
  • Eat healthily
  • Be happy

The idea is that at the end of six weeks we all feel happier, healthier and glow with the good food, sleep, exercise, water and lack of sun damage.

I had 2 glasses of red wine last night but was asleep by 10 I reckon.

Marina, I made dh guess my weight to programme my pedometer: I don't want to know!

Batters, interesting that about rich food, and at least you didn't drink on Sat. And you're right about the romance, dh does lots of lovely lovely things for me, a lot of the time, he's a gem.

I'm glad everyone had a lovely bluebell filled weekend. Onwards!

Thanks to my trains again I clocked up 5000 enraged steps on my way to work this morning. Does fury up your aerobic capacity, does anyone know?
That weighing mallarkey has really got me focussed now. I have a load of kilos to lose.
Am still being good about wine intake, hand and body cream and water. Less good about turning in early, must try and crack that
Wishing everyone a good, sun-dappled and pedometer-approved week!

EmilyandLola · 30/04/2007 09:50

Ive bleached my teeth!

foxinsocks · 30/04/2007 09:52

I did very badly over the weekend (including spending the whole of Sunday outside at a party, without sunscreen, drinking wine and eating very rich cake bleeuurghh).

Have vowed to do better this week and the builders have gone so can restock the fridge and will try to eat more healthily (did anyone see the 'Fat Warning' programme on Channel 4 last night? Not sure I'll be touching another sweet/chocolate for a while).

Batters, I didn't realise you were in London. Are you on the SW side? We're members at Kew but I haven't been for yonks.

www, when are you off to the Forbury then? I'd be interested in hearing what it's like because it's not that far from me.

foxinsocks · 30/04/2007 10:00

and marina, I find fury does wonders for aerobic activity. I'm sure I pound my feet harder into the ground and walk faster when I'm cross .

Marina · 30/04/2007 10:02

Not to mention the clenched fists FIS

prufrock · 30/04/2007 11:09

So it's Monday morning and I am back to being a paragon of virtue - let's see how long it lasts this time.

Batters - I'm not sure that your accurate assessment of my alcohol capacity is really a complement, but I'm sure you meant it to make me feel better so thank you.

Marina - stop weighing in kilo's, it's such a BIG number - stones and pounds is much better.

Oh www are you finally going to the Forbury?

monkeytrousers · 30/04/2007 14:30

Right, I've hit the ground running this week. Hope your listening custard face!

yoyo · 30/04/2007 14:44

DH not feeling well which will mean early nights and no wine! This should be a good week for me as a result.
Did an exercise video this morning and was whacked afterwards and I've walked the children to school (and will do the same to collect them). Have also walked around Tesco for yonks just trying to find stuff. Must have been there for well over an hour so that must count as exercise surely?
Cheat's cassoulet for tea tonight which is reasonably healthy. Actually feeling quite bouncy (in a good way) at the moment. Must be the sunshine.

WideWebWitch · 30/04/2007 19:42

Hello! I feel very energetic and happy today. Not a bad day but not great:

100g Granola
apple
strawberries
raspberries
blueberries
100g reduced fat hummus
a red pepper
1 few extra strong mints
2 packs of prawns (100cal)
1 vegetarian samosa (150cal)
half a vegetarian spring roll (no idea, 100cal?)
lots of water
no walking
no sunscreen
and will be in bed by 10pm
no wine

FIS/Prufrock, yes, I will give a full report on The Forbury, I can't wait.

WideWebWitch · 30/04/2007 19:44

I reckon fury must help. Surely it's got to be using extra energy?

FIS, don#t tell me about fat warning, sounds scary, esp with the amount of animal fat I consumed this weekend

wb MT

Yoyo, my dh is ill too so he doesn't want to eat tonight which means my supper was the prawns, which is all v good.

Sobernow, the suite with the glass bath was taken, sadly. We are having suite no 38 click on the floor plan, 3rd floor to see it.

WOW! The Forbury looks amazing. Best I'm going to do this year is a very rustic farmer's field in the Isle of Man

Bit of a bleary w/e as any early nights were wiped out by DS waking 3-4 times both Friday AND Saturday nights and deciding that 5.50am was 'getting up time' on Sunday He wasn't very well so is (nearly) forgiven though my mission to get them both to catch chicken pox hasn't paid off yet!

Obviously need to dig out my pedometer. Seems like a little competitiveness may be creeping in and I don't want to miss out!

prufrock · 30/04/2007 23:08

I'm trying to think of an excuse to drag dh to Reading now! Though I am spending the summer holidays in the Carribean - including \link{http://www.fourseasons.com/nevis/2weeks here}

Good day for me - well it is monday

50 sit-ups on waking
Granola
30 minute power walk with dog
Chicken, stuffing and watercress sandwich plus carrot juice
Walked to pick up dd from school (pushing toddler and we were late so 15 minutes of it ws serious exercise)
Chunks of carrot and some raisins (I was making carrot cake and figured raw ingredients would be healthier than finished article)
Unsalted pistachios
Energetic gardening for an hour
Sushi
One truffle (would have been more but somebody has eaten them and put back box with only one in. Not sure whether to be angry or grateful)

Not enough water, but sunscreen and am now going to bed and will apply nail oil and handcream. Dh is away though, so I am unlikely to get to sleep anytime soon.

Prufrock - that looks sensational!

WWW - is this a celebratory weekens away? That suite looks lovely. In fact, I don't think I'd leave the room.

Saw some serious results today - my tum is almost flat again, my legs feel strong.

Just plotted a local run of two miles online - how wonderful technology is.

Feel like I'm getting back in control of things

Marina · 01/05/2007 09:28

at the luxe destinations/partying with slebs being bandied around on here, lucky girls! Well, I am still chuffed to bits with my free caravan in the Charente Maritime, honest . I keep seeing monkfish in batter hovering tantalisingly before my eyes...
Out of catastrophe emerges a new, better, morning routine (although I think I will draw the line at rising with my offspring at six am). As a result of being p*ssed about by dear Southeastern yesterday I have realised I can do a longer power walk in the morning, just by getting a slightly earlier train and getting off a stop sooner. Interestingly, I must have been stomping along like an angry little troll yesterday because the same route this morning has resulted in 700 fewer steps .
The other thing I'm doing is strutting my stuff round the Barbican every lunchtime. I did 12,000 steps yesterday and am going to make that my daily goal Thanks so much for recommending that pedometer batters, and for being my particular inspiration right now
And, water, cream and being happy aside, I definitely do need to lose weight so have reactivated my Weightwatchers and am going to really give that a go for the next six weeks. I have many kilometres to stomp before I can catch up with monkeytrousers and her flat tummy

motherinferior · 01/05/2007 10:05

I did do another 60 lengths last night...

feetheart · 01/05/2007 10:48

Can I just ignore everything I ate yesterday and start again today please?
I had a bit of a flashback to childhood and made 'pink pudding' - my Granny's signature dish!! Whipped up evaporated milk and raspberry jelly, one mouthful and I was back to being 7 years old. It was wonderful so I licked the bowl out, ate DS's (after he rejected it, strange boy doesn't have much of a sweet tooth) and then ate mine later!! There are 2 more lurking in the fridge but I'm ignoring them at the moment.

Did the usual pre-school walk this morning with 18mth old in buggy and 4 yr old on buggy board. Power walked half way back then did the rest at curious toddler pace. He is going to end up doing at least 2 Miles for Maude because life is just too interesting to walk in a straight line

iota · 01/05/2007 14:55

I am feeling virtuous today, as have just been swimming.Didn't do anywhere near as many lengths as MI, but every little helps
