WWW's six week 10 year younger boot camp, all welcome, WEEK FIVE

Week 5 of the third boot camp of 2007, everyone is welcome.

The rules (anyone can join):

This is about feeling better about yourself...not necessarily a diet per se etc etc

  • Sunscreen at all times. I know it's winter, there are still rays trying to damage your skin
  • No or little booze. Wine at the weekend is allowed if you want it
  • Walking is important, a small amount every day if possible. 30 mins if you can
  • Lots of water, aim for 2 litres a day
  • Apply body cream as often as possible
  • Use hand cream
  • Go to bed early, by 10.30pm if pos
  • Eat healthily
  • Be happy

The idea is that at the end of six weeks we all feel happier, healthier and glow with the good food, sleep, exercise, water and lack of sun damage.

Marina, I didn't know you were unhappy at work - do you want to move imminently?

Are we all still on for meeting up? The 23rd June was suggested, and as providence would have it I HAVE to be in London that day, so please please don't cancel!!!!!

Ds2's birthday yesterday, lots of chocolate cakes, garlic bread dripping with cheese etc, but was pretty restrained on the whole, so in abstract probably not great, but in the context of a whole party full of food to be gobbled, pretty good!

Marina · 02/05/2007 16:24

Snort at iota necking wine on auto-pilot I once did that with an Easter Egg...but that was then and this is now...sigh.
Torty, not unhappy at all, just can't really do the job p/t or from home IYSWIM. Losing weight and getting fighting fit will only do good whether I stay put or go on to the job market.
A v. happy belated birthday to your ds2 and sorry your lunch wasn't tastier iota

motherinferior · 02/05/2007 16:39

I HAVE MET MY DEADLINE.

It was a really quite complicated article. And long. I am going to have chips. And wine. And probably very rare meat. Ha!

tortoiseSHELL · 02/05/2007 16:52

well done MI, enjoy them!!! Marina, can't you introduce a fantastic new scheme where students just post on MN when they borrow a book, then you could work from home!!!

A chip sandwich with no butter? What's the point of that!?

WideWebWitch · 02/05/2007 19:05

Well quite re the chip sandwich with no butter!

Sobernow, I'd look and see what happens, you can make a decision if and when something comes up. You can always lie and say it was a contact or something or say you weren't looking but you saw their job advertised and just had to apply because it was SO what you wanted.

23rd June it is then! Hmm, well, I was going to ask people what we think about those Masai trainers and stuff, so what do we think?

MI, good re deadline, have a lovely evening.

Tortoiseshell, happy birthday to your ds.

Batters yes we will do another one after this.

FIS, come and sit on the naughty step with me

Feetheart, well done

Marina, could you try asking for some flexibility? Are there any policies on it? You've got an under 6yo...

TERRIBLE day for me due to mild hangover

2 pieces toast with loads of butter
a sausage and egg Mcmuffin
a Coke
Coffee
a packet of steak flavour crisps
not v good chicken and chips for lunch (but it was lovely to meet the lovely Iota at last!)
a packet of Minstrels (big assault on snack machine today by moi)
2 more pieces toast with butter
No exercise
no sunscreen
not enough water
2 Americanos or might have been 3

But am already in bed and not remotely tempted by wine so will have an early night and at least it's the end of my working week tomorrow

I'm going to have to get one of these pedometer thingies I can see!

tortoiseSHELL · 02/05/2007 19:39

Btw, did we decide where we were going? I'm probably going to Dulwich in the morning, nearest tube I think is London Bridge, so somewhere near there would be good.

It must be fate I think!

tortoiseSHELL · 02/05/2007 19:39

(being in London that day I mean!!!)

WideWebWitch · 02/05/2007 20:07

Hmm, London Bridge --> Vinopolis?

OP posts:
yoyo · 02/05/2007 20:08

WWW - there is an article on those trainers
here .

Marina · 02/05/2007 20:16

23rd is fine if it's lunch but I'll have to hoof it as dh is taking a load of little boys to drop down a hole in Chislehurst Caves (it's ds' birthday party that day), so will have to be back in the burbs mid-afternoon, or maybe just make it a drive-by, sorry ladies. But would so love to be there!
I am drooling happily at all the chip sandwiches and ravaged vending machines (you did put money in didn't you www, not just rip the Minstrels out with your bare fists ) on this thread, cottage cheese with miserable little Food Doctor omega 3 toenail clippings sticking out of it doesn't begin to compare.
Batters, am interested to hear more about your trainers, they sound fab
Sobernow, if you are really not happy then sod what your employer thinks, start looking now. It is their problem if you are feeling unmotivated and unengaged (or put upon or whatever).
I already have flexible working in place as far as poss, www, and a generally really supportive line manager. But with a team of five having to run a library for 56 hours a week, people need to be there tbh. It's an amazing place and my team always do their best, but cutting hours is tricky.

Marina · 02/05/2007 20:17

Vinopolis...yeeeessss!

tortoiseSHELL · 02/05/2007 20:27

sounds good! I think I will need to get back to the provinces marina, so I would need to do lunch as well!

What is this vinopolis? Nice?

WideWebWitch · 02/05/2007 20:28

I haven't been but gather so

OP posts:
tortoiseSHELL · 02/05/2007 20:32

ooh, looks very nice! Good plan!

Marina · 02/05/2007 20:39

Venue of first EVER Mumsnet meet-up
Guess what www, we drank the place dry and had to be ejected at dinner-time having been there since 12.30pm (and I was so nervous I was pissed before anyone even arrived, I organised it!)

WideWebWitch · 02/05/2007 20:40

Marina, I know when it was! 18th May 2002. And the reason I know is that I lurked on the thread and wanted to go but it was the first anniversary of my dad's death (died 2001) and I wanted to go but knew I couldn't handle it. Am I right?

OP posts:
tortoiseSHELL · 02/05/2007 20:42

Sounds fab!

Marina · 02/05/2007 20:44

Ah my love, that was Pamina's notorious lock-in at that wine-bar near Covent Garden. The one where we found Scummy in the boys' toilets...
We went to Vinopolis the previous November.
Me, Cam and a friend, SueW, Lizzer, Batters, Tigermoth, pupuce, bossykate, Bells and baby dd and A Representative from Head Office.

WideWebWitch · 02/05/2007 20:47

Ah, I remembered wrong then, I wouldn't have been around for the first one, I found mumsnet in v early 2002 I think! Wonder if there was one on 18th May 02 then and at Scummy in boys loos!
