WWW's six week 10 year younger boot camp, all welcome, WEEK FIVE

Week 5 of the third boot camp of 2007, everyone is welcome.

The rules (anyone can join):

This is about feeling better about yourself...not necessarily a diet per se etc etc

  • Sunscreen at all times. I know it's winter, there are still rays trying to damage your skin
  • No or little booze. Wine at the weekend is allowed if you want it
  • Walking is important, a small amount every day if possible. 30 mins if you can
  • Lots of water, aim for 2 litres a day
  • Apply body cream as often as possible
  • Use hand cream
  • Go to bed early, by 10.30pm if pos
  • Eat healthily
  • Be happy

The idea is that at the end of six weeks we all feel happier, healthier and glow with the good food, sleep, exercise, water and lack of sun damage.

Some things changeth not I fear
I just had a feeling if you HAD been on Mn at the time, you'd have been there with us

WideWebWitch · 02/05/2007 20:50

I found it and I got confused because it was called Baccanalia, I KNEW it was sometihng to do with wine!

A theme emerges...I had forgotten the name of the restaurant too. I had forgotten my own child by the time I tottered out of there! It was the 18th of May. Some people went on a weekend-long bender I am told

WideWebWitch · 02/05/2007 20:55

lol

Oh the heady early days of MN!!!

Btw, www, I was at a friends' party a couple of weekends ago, and ds1 was throwing rings for their BIG dog, who kept returning them and licking him, which he found very funny. I don't know if you can remember what he used to be like on our walks (when I used to have to hold him if a dog so much as entered the wood) but it is a minor miracle!!!

OMG, that sounds like FUN!

Marina · 02/05/2007 21:30

Where did you get them half-price bargain-woman?

monkeytrousers · 02/05/2007 21:34

anyway...

brekkie - toast x2 low fat spread
lunch - home made lentil and quinoa soup with x 2 multigrain bread with low fat spread
dinner - toasted cheese and tomato sarnie with side salad and juice

Doing better on the water side
Moisturiser is 15spf
always forget hand cream

Ran 2k and probably walked that around an enormous garden centre looking for a mimosa tree sapling for my garden - which they didn;t have!

prufrock · 02/05/2007 22:07

Please count me in for lunch. And probably dinner as well - after our last vinopolis outing Scummy, JJ and I didn't leave the pub round the corner until after 10pm and I only just managed to get my train home. And i was soaked because somebody who I will not name had spilt a round of drinks all over the table. Are we sure it's the right event for a group of women who are meant to be being healthy?

So today

Only a peach for breakfast after my stressy failed ticket purchasing effort. Walked to school, then 2 hour walk with dog and toddlers in am - mostly ambling but made up for by having to carry toddler most of way back after we'd gone the wrong way. Taramasalata and pitta with salad for lunch, another peach. Didn't succumb to cakes or biscuits at friends house, the tabouleh and lamb for dinner. Unfortunatly dh has come home and is plying me with wine - wonder what he wants......
Managed sunscreen and lots of water.

I will keep my eyes open batters, thanks for the tip
So far today
Healthy breakfast, 3km fast walk, lots of water, creams agogo
Hope you are feeling better this morning www and wishing everyone 10 years off their birth cert!

winnie · 03/05/2007 12:48

I have missed so much on this thread
Have been really good (despite (d)h dumping me again & chaos and heartbreak ensuing all round ). Somehow I've even managed to not take comfort in food and alcohol. Maybe I am just getting used to his appalling behaviour!

Would love to come to the meet up but absolutely know it's not going to happen. However, I am sure you will all have a fab time.

I need to go and buy new clothes as I've dropped two sizes since we started this at the beginning of the year

Marina · 03/05/2007 12:50

Oh winnie, no Oh, I'm so sorry to hear he's done this

Thanks Marina & Batters. I am furious and very upset and wondering how I am going to cope (esp with dd & ds) as he has been fantastic over the last 6 months or so. Mainly I am furious with myself. We went through so many discussions about getting back together and not hurting the children etc I can't quite believe what a complete fool I've been. I am convinced he suffers from depression and this has a part to play in his decision making. We had such a great holiday and I thought things were going well but I obviously know nothing about relationships

iota · 03/05/2007 13:43

oh winnie

Marina · 03/05/2007 14:05

Depression hammers even the most loving partner's ability to empathise and understand the impact of their behaviour on their family
Has he seen a GP about it winnie (and I bet I know the answer to that )
Grrrr, men. Have some virtual limited edition organic sauvignon blanc with me.

tortoiseSHELL · 03/05/2007 14:16

winnie. SOrry to read that, are you ok? Your kids? Depression is horrid, it really does affect decision making and judgement.

Well done on the dress sizes.

yoyo · 03/05/2007 14:59

So sorry to read your news Winnie. How are the children taking it? You have had so much to contend with over the last year or so and have achieved so much. You have more reasons than most to feel furious and upset - do vent your anger on here if it helps. Thinking of you.

winnie · 03/05/2007 15:13

You lot are so lovely. I deliberately didn't start a thread (been there, done that before ) but your kind comments really are appreciated.

Marina, the answer is indeed "No" yet I've thought, & been saying, he suffers from depression for 4 years! After this hideous episode he has finally made an appointment but I am not convinced he will go, or indeed say what needs to be said

Thanks for the virtual wine too

Back to the thread, comfort food today is blueberries (am scoffing punnets of the things and trying not to feel guilty about airmiles) So, other than the guilt, that can't be bad! Have walked to see a client instead of taking the car but 1.5 ltr of volvic is sat before me untouched. Not so good...

WideWebWitch · 03/05/2007 18:49

Oh Winnie, I'm so sorry. WEll done on 2 dress sizes and on not turning to food and alcohol.

OP posts:
prufrock · 03/05/2007 21:32

Winnie I am so sorry. Having been there myself I can confirm that depression can indeed make one do and say horrid things, but usually only to the people you actually can (subconciously at least) trust to still love you.

Have you thought of going to the GP yourself? Mine has just given me a wonderful booklet which made me feel so much better as I finally realsied that lots of what I thought was just me being , well, me was actually normal for a depressed person. If you got something your dh could read and see himself in it might be a more acceptable approach for him than having to blurt it out to a doctor.

I succumbed to cake today - but only one small square, and it did have carrots in. Apart form that nothing spectacularly bad, but nothing great either
