So good to see you

Mara is ace for restaurants

MarshaBradyo · 11/03/2018 20:57

And Blingy is and everyone else too

Hope life is fab in new place?

QueenCapri · 11/03/2018 21:30

Hi yves good to see you again!
I can’t help with restaurants I’m afraid but sure one of the Londoners will be able to
Any new purchases you need to tell us about...?

YvesKleinBlue · 11/03/2018 21:52

Thanks for the warm welcome back! I feel a bit like the Prodigal Daughter. Wink

shop not sure if I really know your style well but we are birthday twins so maybe that makes a difference.

queencapri I haven’t been buying much lately. I seem to stick to buying quality over quantity but I have discovered Everlane for their great basics and Uniqlo for their fab linen shirts for women and men.

I did buy a red Uniqlo Ines de la Fressange cardigan a few weeks ago and I thought of you as you used to love cardigans and it’s a lovely red.

I am contemplating a new big bag purchase but haven’t quite made up my mind yet.

Off now to help DS with his homework! He’s in first grade now so the days of just picking him up at school and not having to do anything afterwards are finished!

QueenCapri · 11/03/2018 21:55

I’ve read about everlane on the Paris thread and it sounds great.
Weirdly, I don’t wear cardigans as much anymore. The main one I wear is my navy boyfriend one. I think as I’ve got older cardigans can have a tendency to look frumpy whereas they used to suit me —or maybe they didn’t—

Longislandicetee · 12/03/2018 06:59

Omg Yves! I am like beyond excited you're back.Grin Please stay!!Grin

Have you eaten at The Shard? There are 3 restaurants- Aquashard which is noisy and trendy modern European, Hutong which is a trendy Chinese restaurant (don't over do it on ordering spicy food as your palette will just taste like a giant chilli) and Oblong which is also modern European but less noisy. They're all popular so if you want a table by the window, book early and tell them this. The view is I think the most spectacular one in London especially if you overlook the Thames.

I was at Nobu a couple of weeks ago and was reminded how fantastic the food is there.

Also been at the Hawksmoor recently which is great.

None of these are "romantic" so i will be back later with those.

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 12/03/2018 12:09

Hello Yves! Lovely to see you, have missed your posts :)

Love all the whim purchases, very Vogue Wink

Shop Flowers

Hope everyone had a lovely Mother's Day. DH got me a card which I wasn't expecting haha.

My Banana Republic items arrived, I need some advice about the blazer. It's really nice and I want to keep it but - in a 10, it fits perfectly across the shoulders, but the sleeves are a bit wide, and I could button it up over my bump so it's a bit big. Should I order an 8 to compare (bearing in mind the shoulders will probably be smaller), or get it tailored (which I won't be able to do until I'm no longer pregnant as i'll want it fitted around the waist)? I suppose I could look into getting the arms slimmed down now, then wear it open for a bit.

Morning! I really should have thought more about my new name as shortening it to yves really makes me wince every time I see it!

Many years ago I had a thing with a guy called Yves and he really wasn’t much to write home about so being called by his name is strange Smile

Hi blair and blingy!

We are actually staying at the Shangri La this time and we have had breakfast at the Aquashard last time DH and I were in London together.

I think I even posted a bathroom selfie from the loo IIRC!

We went to Nobu many years ago when we still lived in London and it was great so maybe time to revisit?

And congratulations blair on your pregnancy! You must be so excited! Flowers

YvesKleinBlue · 12/03/2018 14:09

Some of my purchases:

The heels are super comfortable and really versatile. They might look or if but they are perfect.

I bought the shirt and the dress in the sales and love both. The shirt really is out of my comfort zone but work well dressed up or down and I have yet to wear the dress as the weather has been rubbish here but I love a bit of embroidery.

I actually just ordered the white version as I saw it was also on sale. Grin

Boring not *or!

YvesKleinBlue · 12/03/2018 14:12

And DH bought me this watch for my birthday last year. I wanted a watch that was a bit more casual and this fits the bill perfectly with the double strap.

I can really see this on shop as well but maybe with a black leather strap, making it a bit more rock chick chic.

Yves!!!!! Love the name, so apt Wink It is lovely to have you back.

For Paris am out of touch but have some London recommendations for you:

For drinks/cocktails and light bites:
Isabel - you will love this one, super luxe, gorgeous decor and really good food & cocktails.
Les 110 de Taillevent

Brasserie-style
34
Jean-George’s at The Connaught
Scott’s
Harry’s Dolce Vita

Fish:
Olivo Mare (Belgravia)

Other:
Noble Rot on Lamb’s Conduit St - amazing wine list - can just have drinks in bar or meal in main restaurant
Lurra - Spanish restaurant near Marble Arch, v good food & wine, the whole grilled octopus is amazing

If you have time to see any exhibitions Tate Modern would be top of my list. Don’t think you will have seen the extension yet plus there is Modigliani & a new Picasso show which just opened.

maradesbois · 12/03/2018 15:08

List fail, Scott’s should have been under fish Grin.

Blair is the blazer to wear now or post-maternity? If it is for afterwards I would advise don’t keep it as it’s too hard to judge non-pregnant fit even for jackets.

Love all the impulse buys. Dry I like those mules, they are fun and springlike and not too ££.

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 12/03/2018 15:18

Yves thank you Grin Swoon at the watch, so lovely! And loving the red theme of your buys.

Mara it's for both, or is that a bad idea? I guess I don't know how much my shape might change yet Confused Looked at the Le Pliage hobo by the way, never seen that shape before and can see why it was useful.

maradesbois · 12/03/2018 16:01

Blair sorry, don’t want to put you off, just meant that it shouldn’t be a compromise purchase

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 12/03/2018 16:25

Welcome back Yves lovely to see you back on thread and fabulous purchases as always

Think i've bagged everything i can for charity now, well, everything i'm currently willing to give up at least. It has cleared quite a lot of space and I can definitely see some gaps that need filling,f or example, I don't have ANY blazers of any sort and I think I need at least one, probably in black I think. Keep thinking about jeans as well but i'm pretty reluctant to buy because I really only wear them at home to slob around in and really,t hey aren't the most comfortable for that so thinking I might just buy some nicer pjs/lounge wear instead. I'm also a little short on dressier things but really don't think that's such a problem as 99.9% of the time, everywhere I go is casual and I do have a few things that would work well for dressier times and if I get invited to a wedding or anything like that, i'd likely buy new anyway

YvesKleinBlue · 12/03/2018 16:57

Thanks mara I will check those out and also send them to DH!

Waves at one!

I have to say I love blazers but I can’t seem to make them work on me.

My lovely Stella McCartney blazer has hardly been worn as it looks too business like when I wear it with a shirt and even worn with a plain tee it looks not quite right on me somehow.

Even jersey blazers are tricky but slightly better.

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 12/03/2018 17:16

Yves that's funny, I would have had you down as quite a classic dresser. I guess you find your other jacket (the one we all drooled over at a MU) better?

Mara no worries, I will have another try on tonight and a think about it. I don't need a blazer, just liked this one.

shopafrolic · 12/03/2018 18:27

Yves I love that watch
You do know my stye - I think of you every time I wear my jumpsuit.
MrShop is back tomorrow until Sunday which is good as I am going borderline insane.

FedupNagging · 12/03/2018 18:52

Waves to Yves, lovely to see you back. Nice purchases - love the watch.

Blingy gorgeous ring and also loving the whim buys of bag and a shoes from Dry and Queen

Sadly my H&M jumper will be returned - it has pilling all over plus lots of bits of fluff (didn't notice in store lighting) - I know it's only £18 but have tried it on twice and likelihood is I won't wear it. Am wondering if it was a return item.

Not sure it's worth keeping the blazer for after baby Blair - as others have said you don't really know what the fit will be like. If you love it maybe just keep for pg wear & save for baby no.2

Keep strong Shop Flowers

YvesKleinBlue · 12/03/2018 19:22

blair yes the other jacket is a lot easier to style.

And yes, I am a classic dresser but more on the boyish side than on the masculine side so maybe a classic blazer is too masculine. I will have to try different outfits again as it’s a waste having such a beautiful jacket just sitting in my wardrobe gathering dust.

Waves at fedup!

shop I should be used to DH traveling (he travels even more than before!) and looking after the DC by myself but even I have moments where I have had enough. (((Hugs)))

AmberNectarine · 12/03/2018 20:16

Blair I used a large Pliage as a changing bag - lightweight, waterproof and something you'll use afterwards. I bought a travel changing mat and hey presto!

AmberNectarine · 12/03/2018 20:21

I see Mara said similar! I solved the handle issue with one of those karabiner type bag clips which just went on the handle of the pram.

I am so fucking bored of winter now. As much as I love cashmere there are only so many times you can put on a cashmere jumper of a morning without wanting to punch yourself in the face. I haven't bough much as a result - just a white tuxedo shirt and navy wide leg pants from the Uniqlo Ines collaboration and a white ribbed turtleneck from M&S to wear with some skimpier dresses while I wait for Spring.

justasecond · 12/03/2018 20:22

Hi all!
I'm back after a couple of busy weeks away with dps. Too much for me to catch up on but glad to see Yves and welcome to all the newbies. The watch is gorgeous.
To answer the most recent question re make up repeat buys, there are quite a few Blush I love make up. I don't wear loads but do need something to take away the anaemic pallor and stop people asking me if I feel ok Blush

I repeat buy:

Giorgio armani luminous silk foundation,

By terry concealer for under eyes

although[[http://www.boots.com/maybelline-eraser-eye-concealer this is just as good as by terry]]

max factor eyebrow pencil

no 7 nude lip pencil

Love the bag Blair I have the slightly larger size. It was a really good buy. I agree with others re jacket. Anything I bought while pregnant to wear after ended up on ebay.

Bought this sandro jumper on the outnet before I went away cream jumper need to try on properly but I think it might look better on the model!

When is the next mu btw?
