Went in yesterday and spent £46 exactly.
For that I got 5 smock tops and 2 pairs of trousers.

And whats even better is that I'll have probably bought my whole maternity wardrobe now.

I was so impressed. Everybody should shop there.
Never mind that Kate Moss overpriced tramp clothing range at Topshop.

'that woman with weird hats, Isabella Blow '

She's a moo. I laughed my arse off when her father left her FA, especially after she went around calling his wife of 30+ years 'some Welsh creature from a council estate'.

expatinscotland · 26/04/2007 16:21

Can't wait to visit the Primark in Glasgow.

Wahey!

Porcupine · 26/04/2007 16:21

i dont lik ebing in italics

ScottishThistle · 26/04/2007 17:47

Oh I love people's names in italics Cod!

Actually I just love italics!

TLV · 26/04/2007 19:12

you have to get there at 9.00am sharp when they open so you don't stand in the mile long queue for hours and don't have to sort through clothes like a jumble sale!! its ok for work clothes but you can guarantee you will see at least 5 people wearing the same top as you are

LucyJones · 26/04/2007 19:13

but on BBC news they said it was for under 30s only

calpolicella · 26/04/2007 20:02

On the subject of maternity wear, I bought a lovely orange swing coat with big buttons which covers my bump despite being in my normal size - only £15. It's just not worth buying expensive clothes when you are only going to wear them for a few months. I'm still wearing some velour trousers that I wore in my last pregnancy. Their smock tops are good too. But I find some of the other discount chains are good too - George for example, if you look in the sale rails you can often get smocky things for under a tenner.

jalopy · 27/04/2007 07:48

It's all tat.

toomuchtodo · 27/04/2007 07:51

think its crap too

tigermoth · 27/04/2007 08:11

I love it. Buying some of my clothes from primark means I can afford to buy other clothes from Whistles.

Some of the designs are cut badly for me, but that's true of any high street shop.

I tend only buy certain things from Primark - underwear, smocks, vests and t shirts, sandals and plimsols, accessories, coats and stretchy trousers for wearing at home.

Rarely find I like their smarter stuff - trousers, skirts, jackets or their fake leather shoes and bags. But brilliant for casual and 'at home' stuff.

Wahey Fio
Hope you get some good stuff!
I know your looking for trousers and those stretchy waistband ones are folded up on those round display things they have.

So ST, you didnt spill! Have been trying to wrack my brains all night lol!

I do so looooooooooooooove Primark

persephonesnape · 27/04/2007 14:55

they are wonderful. i bought three dresses the same (the black floral empire line maxi dress that will do even when you're hugely pg.) keeping one and putting the other two on ebay.

FiveFingeredFiend · 27/04/2007 14:56

No Primark isn't the most wonderful shop. It is full of people who like car boot sales and jumple sales in church halls.

GameGirly · 27/04/2007 15:06

Just spent ages in there picking up bits and bobs. Got to the till and realised that I'm only supposed to have a lunch hour, not a lunch day. Bloody hell, the queue was HUGE. Loads of nice things though, I thought - well, beachy type stuff, anyway.

persephonesnape · 27/04/2007 15:06

i do both of those as well, because with three children to support single handedly, i can't afford to spend a lot of money on clothes.

RanToTheHills · 27/04/2007 15:07

it's crap! Why not spend more on fewer clothes or buy 2nd hand?
waste of space IMHO, but I'm clearly outnumbered!

persephonesnape · 27/04/2007 15:17

because occasionally you may want something vaguely fashionable - to supplement your good quality 2nd hand staples - 2nd hand clothes will generally be a couple of seasons old.

buying fewer clothes isn't an option when there are three of them. maybe they could have a rota for who wears the socks to school this week? - and i'm not putting my children in 2nd hand underwear or socks!

CoozerP · 27/04/2007 15:20

Just back to the maxi dress thing (which even if you don't like them ARE in fashion at the moment!)
someone posted "they make you look like an art teacher" Well I must remember to buy one to wear next term as I can't think of anything more pratical in an Art room

2mum · 27/04/2007 15:32

I love Primark, although their are some things in it i dont like. But i cant think of any shop where i like everything, so thats normal. Some people have a snobbish attitude about Primark but they still seem to have a nosey in it and seem to know all about it

MuminBrum · 29/04/2007 19:41

Hideous badly made crap, and how can you cope with the reality that this vile crud has been made in sweatshops where people are locked in? Buy less, people, it's really not that difficult.

Porcupine · 29/04/2007 19:42

agree
