What do you think of this jumpsuit?

I'm 20 weeks pregnant, reasonable bump but not enough to justify maternity wear just yet, and I've got a black tie event which I thought I was sorted for (was going to wear a knee length blue lace dress) but it turns out everyone is wearing full on black tie/long dresses!

I've bought this jumpsuit in the phase eight sale and it is so comfortable but now I've got it home I'm worried it's a bit 80s and not suited to a size 14-16 pregnant woman!

I like it

christmashope · 14/12/2017 17:26

I really like it

lucylouuu · 14/12/2017 17:27

love it!

Jiminypet · 14/12/2017 17:28

Lovely! Just wear better shoes than the model is wearing!!

RestingGrinchFace · 14/12/2017 17:30

A jump shot isn't actually black tie...a knee length dress would've more suitable.

Fekko · 14/12/2017 17:30

How will it fit over your bump? I wore either high waist (like empire mine) or things that ties around the hips.

ItsYuleyme · 14/12/2017 17:31

Ohhhhh yessss! I like it a lot.
When you said jumpsuit I thought mmmmm!
But fab! Love it!
You'll look great.
Have a brilliant night!

MsHomeSlice · 14/12/2017 17:33

I really like it, but is the cross over top alright with the bump? And the sash belt?

JesusTapdancingChrist · 14/12/2017 17:33

I really love it but as it's not maternity wear I'd be a little bit unsure of how it will sit over your bump?

elmo1980 · 14/12/2017 17:37

Oh good thank you.

I bought a size up and it ties quite nicely above the bump and the trousers are so wide it can be mistaken for a dress. I'm now frantically trying to find suitable shapewear as it is unforgiving on vpl- thinking high waisted long shorts. I hope I'm not going to need the loo at any point!

Disagree with RestingGrinch!
This would be great for a young, modern twist on black tie.
Obviously you've tried it as you say it's sooooo comfy. So I would ignore any comments about fitting over bump. Will look great! Trust me!
Stop reading any other replies now as you may get put off! Wink

elmo1980 · 14/12/2017 17:38

Going to try it on again in a bit so if I'm feeling brave maybe i should post a pic for some brutally honest opinions!

I'd wear with no nicks or a thong.
You don't want to feel all trussed up and hot.

elmo1980 · 14/12/2017 17:45

I would LOVE to get away with a thong but I'm hoping to dance at some point and this giant bottom needs containing. I'll put up with the discomfort for a few hours for the sake of everything staying in place

Plus I'm on maternity leave from ds1 so I won't have seen most people for nearly a year and I want to look as good as possible.

Oooh this is lovely OP, please do post a pic Smile

elmo1980 · 14/12/2017 18:43

Now I've seen pics I'm really not so sure - I look enormous I don't think it's flattering at all. Please be truthful (but not too brutal!)...

Agree it’s not very flattering

shhhfastasleep · 14/12/2017 18:46

It looks lovely and modern. I'm in my 50s and am horribly familiar with 80s fashion. This ain't.
My only concern is loo breaks. Is it compatible with trips to the loo. Which can be more frequent when pregnant.

Arronsmissus · 14/12/2017 18:47

Sorry but it does nothing for you. You have a lovely figure and its too baggy.

GissASquizz · 14/12/2017 18:48

It's a bit shapeless.

Itchytights · 14/12/2017 18:52

It’s too baggy on you. I think the trousers are way too wide.

You have a lovely figure- go for something more fitted ( but that’s still comfy).

QuiteLikeable · 14/12/2017 18:54

The jumpsuit is lovely but it's MASSIVE on you! You really could get away with something much more fitted and flattering. I think you have an image in your head of a huge bump etc, but it's not true.

elmo1980 · 14/12/2017 18:54

Bugger thought so. Here is shorter dress I think im going to have to wear instead. Is this Ok? Is it black tie enough? Sorry to ask again but I'm really doubting myself as my friends just say everything is gorgeous!

Even more gorgeous. Very flattering

Hemlock2013 · 14/12/2017 18:57

Yes dress is really lovely. I’m so envious of your lovely slim ankles. Mine were enormous when pregnant. I’d be showing those off x
