In light of the "soap vs shower gel" revelation... solid shampoo!

Am I the only one who has recently discovered solid bars of shampoo?

For the first time in my life people have asked me what shampoo I use as it smells so good and looks so clean and shiny. My hair feels soft and lustrous and I am over the moon with it. No more plastic bottles so it’s an environmental win as well.

I’m using one of the round shampoo bars from Lush that has its own special tin to keep it in. OK, it meant braving The Lush Smell to go in the shop the first time, but I've ordered online since then Grin

The Lush bars are lovely, but I’m open to other suggestions. Anyone found any other good solid shampoo?

I used to use the Lush solid shampoos, but I discovered SLS was the source of my itchy scalp and none of them are SLS-free.
Shame as I loved the smell of them.

I’m trying the Lush henna shampoo bar. Good so far.

Washing my hair in soap has been amazing for my curls but also when I choose to straighten my hair - it just looks fantastic and I temporarily went back to my favourite SLS free shampoo and very quickly decided to dump it! - I will probably use it for guests!

I started using Lush stuff again about two years ago after a long break due to lack of local Lush shops and also, the smell...

I've also discovered the solid shampoo too, I have quite fine hair that tends to be oily. I was using the sea salt one from Lush in a tub but bought the blue round solid one (sorry about the unhelpful lack of names). Both smell amazing.

I also use one of their soaps too in place of shower gel.

I've ordered bar shampoo and conditioner from Lush so I just hope I don't find our post woman overwhelmed by fumes somewhere along her route....

We will have the Funky Soap shampoo as soap, it's bizarre and I can't recommend it. But the conditioner was my mistake; the description on the website does say you have to rinse "with a great deal of water" or some such.

Another healthy soap supplier.

I make my own solid shampoo bars, but that might be a bit extreme for most people! No chemical nasties and I get to blend the oils just how I like them. It does take a month for the bars to cure though.

update on Lush Stuff

bought the Lullaby solid shampoo - really good, better than regular plastic shampoo. Didn't need to condition - just as well, explain why in a mo... - and doesn't smell overwhelming

bought a solid moisturiser bar - again, smell not overwhelming and good product

conditioner - accidentally bought one in a bottle! found site confusing and thought they were all solid, esp as it was stated in grams. Haven't used it - will save for when away and a bar might be a nuisance.

when I reorder the shampoo I will get a conditioner. But generally I'm impressed. I guess it's the bath bombs that make the shop smell so awful!

I'm now intrigued to try these solid shampoo bars.
i use solid bars of soap - i still have usual body wash if i fancy but i just fancied a change

i have long hair - 10+ mins with a hair dryer and its still wet kinda long
I'm currently using tresseme shampoo/conditioner or herbal essences bee strong

so these lush shampoo bars - do they work and last well on long hair

Nyx1 · 19/12/2017 11:00

mookins, I've only had mine 2 days so can't tell you how long it will last.

but I do have long hair which can get frizzy and difficult and this has ticked all the boxes. I wash my hair every day...I'm hoping this bar will last 2 months, that might be optimistic.
