Are we all ready? Stand by your beds for tomorrow! I just keep looking at mine in wonderment. It really cheered me up every day last December having something to open every morning Smile

I couldn't see another day by day thread - happy to delete mine if someone else has one.

The colour doesn't feel at all chic. It's the sort of shade somebody would wear if they want to feel 'jazzy' for Christmas. Apologies to those people who like it!

TheLuminaries · 09/12/2017 15:24

I want to feel 'jazzy' for xmas Grin

snowflakestar · 09/12/2017 15:26

I agree Number, though I think that's the point of it. I'd only wear it for Christmas and mainly because my young daughter would love it (she's never seen me wear nail polish!)!

SouthWestmom · 09/12/2017 15:46

I'm really disappointed in the calendar. Probably because of dd and her Amazon one which is brilliant and much more 'me'.

This feels like samples not treats. Hate the gold colour it's really wishy washy

WindyWednesday · 09/12/2017 15:54

It is full of samples. It’s an advent advertisement.

reallyorange · 09/12/2017 16:09

they're decent sizes, not samples! I used the Emma Hardy balm last year and it lasted ages. I never buy new things for myself just to try so this is a great way to do it without spending loads and most of the products are useful.

YolandasFridge · 09/12/2017 16:52

I'm getting ready for some wine miscalculation tonight, will look out for any goldfingers when I'm out!

Really liked the mascara , nice and thick but not cloggy

I've got nude gel nails on so haven't tried the polish , unsure anyway not usually a metallic nail fan, I think they make my nails look weirdly ridgey?

SymphonyofShadows · 09/12/2017 16:55

This is me after the wine miscalculation last night

SymphonyofShadows · 09/12/2017 16:56

The nail polish will go nicely with the boob tube

ihatethecold · 09/12/2017 17:49

@DurhamDurham
Can you swap with the Gatineau or the Korres?
If not we can see what else comes up.

CanIBuffalo · 09/12/2017 17:56

I'm bored on a works night out. Tiddly enough to snurk at the idea of jazzy hands at Christmas but not drunk enough to turn it into anything filthierGrin

NumberEightyOne · 09/12/2017 18:00

TheLumanaries You are probably a lot more fun ti be around at Christmas than I am!

TheLuminaries · 09/12/2017 18:24

Aaw shucksNumberEightyOne - I love xmas and do tend to go down the sequins and sparkles route, which is far from my usual style - so jazzy gold nails it is Grin

Trills · 09/12/2017 18:33

Gold is a neutral, in my book.

Blerg · 09/12/2017 19:19

I quite liked the mascara - it wasn’t dramatic but it came off easily for me, unlike for a PP. this never normally happens with my Maybelline.

The gold is probably going to look dreadful with my pinky pale hands but I will do one nail as a test 😄

thegrinchreaper · 09/12/2017 19:36

I'm 31 and the target market: someone who enjoys skincare and beauty, in particular most of the brands featured in the calendar. I'm a bit of a lotions and potions fiend so I'm happy so far.
The gold varnish is making me look a touch anaemic but I'll be fake tanning tomorrow. It's lasted well without chipping, though, I cheated and opened the box a few days ago 🙈

BlueEyedWonder · 09/12/2017 21:59

I’m sorry to say this year’s calendar continues to be much weaker than last year’s calendar which had a great mix of face creams and make-up.
The nail varnish colour is not me at all. I’ve given it to DD who’s 13 and is quite pleased with it. I also gave her the mascara.
To top it off, I noticed my calendar has 2 number 13 boxes instead of a 14 box. I emailed M&S this morning, asking if they could send me the number 14 item but, oddly, they just gave me a £6 refund!!!!
Next year I think I’ll splash out on the John Lewis advent calendar which I now wish I’d gone for this year.

snowflakestar · 09/12/2017 22:12

I checked the full contents of every beauty advent calendar before deciding which ones to go for so although some products aren't for me I know that overall this and the LF ones are the best of the bunch for me personally. I'd totally forgotten what was in them after I ordered (my memory isn't great), so it's all still a surprise to me! If I hadn't liked enough products I'd have saved my money and bought full sized items that I know I love instead (as in previous years).

snowflakestar · 09/12/2017 22:15

Just to add, there were others that looked good but I already had some of the products i.e. I doubt I'll need another NARS Orgasm blush for a few years.

MsJaneAusten · 09/12/2017 22:20

I’m just wondering whether there’s going to be any hair products this year. We got the lovely Josh Wood oil last year and the Wonderbalm. I keep opening mine before washing my hair thinking ‘bound to be something for it today’ and then, nope.

BluePheasant · 09/12/2017 22:22

The nail varnish is dreadful! I tried it out today, doesn’t suit my skin tone at all and it’s scraped off in patches already so it hasn’t even lasted a day. Disappointing as the nail varnishes were really good last year.

DurhamDurham · 09/12/2017 22:52

@ihatethecold

I’ve opened both of those but won’t open anything else until I’ve heard from you to see if you want it for the swap Smile

BillStickersIsInnocent · 10/12/2017 07:17

Nail varnish suits my skin tone but it really highlights ridges/dips. Nails are a bit knackered after a few months shellac back to back and this really isn’t doing them any favours.

AmethystMoon · 10/12/2017 07:20

I’m going to try today’s later. I could do with having some radiance revealed Xmas Grin
