Are we all ready? Stand by your beds for tomorrow! I just keep looking at mine in wonderment. It really cheered me up every day last December having something to open every morning Smile

I couldn't see another day by day thread - happy to delete mine if someone else has one.

Hi, checking in and delurking. Have looked forward to reading your opinions on these gifts as much as opening them Smile.
I'm in my early thirties so not the target market but I love all the creams etc. My skin is looking and feeling really soft and smooth.
I wore the mascara and lip stain today. The lip stain is okay, not the most flattering colour I've ever worn but okay and it's stayed on all day. The mascara I wasn't very impressed with. I'm using a Mac mascara at the moment which is much, much better. This one gave me no volume or curl whatsoever.
I have a Christmas night out planned next week and I think I'm going to be really naughty and open all the boxes before then so I can look and feel lovely for the event. I don't go out very often these days so it'll be a nice treat. I'm hoping for some hair stuff, perfume, primer a nice eyebrow pencil or palette, some body and/or hand cream. We shall see.
Don't worry I won't post any spoilers!

I’m hoping for a hand cream soon.

DurhamDurham · 08/12/2017 16:08

I had high hopes for the mascara today but when I got to work and checked in the mirror and it looked like I didn’t have any on at all. I used a good three layers too. Back to maybelline mascara for me.

happypoobum · 08/12/2017 16:44

I also have a raging mascara and kohl habit and am looking forward to trying this out tonight. I still haven't started on the one I got in the summer beauty box!!!

My skin really does feel smoother and look fresher, but as I have used ALL the skin products, I can't really say which one is the reason.

Agree a hand cream would be lovely. I have bought the one we got last year over and over again as I just loved it and nothing else will do now.

I have to say, after the disappointment of day one, I've been completely thrilled by everything else. I love me some high end skincare, and I'm 37 with rapidly ageing skin (I'm pretty sure my two year old is entirely to blame for this) so anything anti-ageing is a big plus for me.

BlackandWhitepostcards · 08/12/2017 17:59

It's a pretty good marketing ploy when you think about it, putting a rubbish product in day one so we love anything that comes after it Grin

peachypips · 08/12/2017 18:28

Right - so the stila lip cream was a perfect shade for me- I was pleased with it. Very cool-toned mousey blond with blue/grey eyes. Lasted most of the day.

Mascara- have given it a proper thrashing today- Pilates, bodypump, shower, swimming, jacuzzi, sauna, shower. Stayed put, no flaking, no smudges. It’s not as dramatic as I hoped it would be but it doesn’t budge which is worth its weight.

runwalkrun · 08/12/2017 18:35

runwalkrun I have a combined sunscreen and moisturiser that is reasonably light, it's Natio for Men. I bought the men's version because it's cheaper and things for men usually have less perfume added so less likely to cause a reaction in me.

Making a note of that.
Thanks Americano

runwalkrun · 08/12/2017 18:39

runwalkrun I am currently using Superdrug Optimum PhytoGlyc-Age day cream (awful name, great product!)

Great! Another one.
I used to use Garnier (the little pink tubes)
They were absolutely amazing. They even contained Hyraulonic Acid, which most places charge a fortune for, but this tube only cost about £3.50! Shock
But like all good things, it came to an end and they discontinued it.
So I am on a holy grail to find a good cheap (ish) moisturizer.

runwalkrun · 08/12/2017 18:41

I have to be careful to avoid the panda eyes look but I'll give this mascara a go.

Symphony, an Estee Lauder Makeup salesperson said to me that the best mascaras usually have very thin wands.
They're the ones that don't smudge.
That's why I swear by the Double Wear Lengthening one. It has a very thin wand.

runwalkrun · 08/12/2017 18:43

I must admit I'm loving the Dragon stuff.
I'm off out tonight and I have it on tonight, under moisturizer and foundation and my skin feels soft and looks good.

All I need now is a compliment. Smile

DozyDoates · 08/12/2017 18:51

@runwalkrun you look fabulous! Wink
Enjoy your night out, I have a Christmas party tomorrow and I am expecting to be mistaken for someone else after all of the promises in these products (or that they will at least counteract the effects of a baby who doesn't sleep)!

CantChoose · 08/12/2017 19:11

I used the Korres last night and my skin felt lovely this morning. I love most korres stuff and it didn't let me down!

reallyorange · 08/12/2017 19:20

I'm picky with mascara and don't think much of today's one. Fine for low-makeup days when I don't want to waste my lancome, I suppose!

thegrinchreaper · 08/12/2017 19:24

Yeah I'm a bit indifferent about the mascara, I'll just use it up quickly now it's been opened, it seems like it will dry up quite quickly anyway.

StickyProblem · 08/12/2017 19:50

Question: is it worth using the dragon’s blood at night? Or is it only for when people can see you wearing it?
I wore it under makeup yesterday and looked great and well rested until about lunchtime :)

Trills · 08/12/2017 20:10

I liked the eyeko eyeliner last year so feeling optimistic about this mascara.

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 08/12/2017 20:15

I'm just using Dragons Blood in the day, under my moisturiser.
It's very similar to my favourite serum: REN Keep Young And Beautiful Instant Firming Beauty Shot, which I love because it makes me look like I've had the best nights sleep ever.

Kez0777 · 08/12/2017 21:07

Well a day long day chasing kids round school and my mascara didn’t budge Shock 10/10 so far. Tomorrow’s test is a day in London, lots of walking, sweaty shops, freezing cold air, the tube and two whinging kids. If it survives that then it’s my life mascara Grin

Kez0777 · 08/12/2017 21:08

Oh and I had my lashes lifted last week so can’t comment on how it’s works to make them longer and fuller but the two together and it looked like I had false lashes on Smile

IToldYouIWasFreaky · 08/12/2017 22:41

Mascara is still on! Pretty good going. I'd definitely consider it as a daytime mascara. Might try a few more coats for nightime.

I am away for the weekend so originally thought I would have to wait until Monday to open two boxes...until I realised that I could take Saturday's and Sunday's with me! It's a very well designed advent calendar Grin

Hello all
I love this thread and think of you all fondly as I use "our" products
I was very excited this morning thinking of the pp who needed a new mascara by Saturday!

YolandasFridge · 08/12/2017 23:04

Good thinking re the weekend away, that's absolute genius!
I'm going to keep my empty box and do a DIY cheapo version for DD13 next Christmas , will save all my samples and freebies throughout the year. She has loved helping me open this years

MrsPestilence · 08/12/2017 23:34

Doh, I was away last weekend and never thought of that! ITold you are a genius Grin
