Oh no, that can't happen Shop! So I decided to share my review of the year to see what were my hardest working items in my wardrobe this year as an excuse it do lots of links
Shoes: With my back issues, the clear winner here was Russell and Bromley ballerina flats, but as it got colder, I have pretty much lived in my lowlands, so comfy stylish and warm. Notable mentions to the Chloé pumps. Rather embarrassed to see these lovely Gianvito Rossi suede heeled sandals on my Pinterest board as I never wore them
. I had the good sense to return the Prada velvet mary jane shoes and the Gucci Marmont shoes I had listed over, thank you mnv for talking sense into me. I wish I had sought opinions on these R&B blocked heels. They're so granny-ish and slightly too big. Definitely my big regret!
Underwear: my hardest working one is an oldie but I bought this M&S lace and silk plunge bra set and really like it so reach for it as soon as it's back in my underwear drawer. I haven't bought from M&S in years as I am typically a 26 back but after piling on the pounds post surgery I am just under a 28, so have been able to buy 30" M&S bras and put on the third hook in.
Casual wear: So when I put on weight I found it hard to get into most of my jeans comfortably as I am usually 25" waist and wear skinnies. That definitely wasn't happening for most of this year, so my Gapkid skinnies (age 13😂) became my favourites. They were £5a few years ago end of sale item. Total bargain. Gapkid leggings also fab.
Workwear: my absolute favourite dress this year has been this Ted Baker knitted scallop dress. It's stunning and the midriff holes add a layer of edginess. I have even worn it to board meetings. My hardest working item continues to be my M&S petite jackets and the equivalent from Zara which is over 10 years old and has outlasted all the designer ones I have had.
One dress I wore a lot was this Alexander McQueen knitted dress. It was expensive but well worth the money as I have worn it for lots of different occasions.
Coat: I have suddenly gone Burberry mad and have switched between this traditional trench then this wool one in the autumn and have loved wearing this quilted jacket. The wool one is 3 years old but the others are new this year. However, the coat that's given me the most pleasure has been my MaxMara cashmere coat. I couldn't wear it last winter and it wasn't that cold the winter before, so I have relished wearing it this year.
Bag: without a doubt the 2 bags I have used the most have been the Balenciaga giant city. Fantastically roomy bag. When I was less steady on my feet, I bought this Radley cross body bag from tkmaxx. It didn't have the dog tag so I didn't realise it was a Radley.
Bling: Other than my Tiffany's trinity of engagement, wedding and eternity rings, the bling I have worn the most continues to be my Raindance ring.
So overall, my style year has been dictated by my post surgery recovery, both in terms of comfort and in terms of putting on weight. I haven't bought loads and have stuck more to oldies.
What's everyone else's hardest working items in 2017? And is anyone doing anything exciting tonight?
