Anyone tried Trinny London products?

I follow Trinny on Instagram and luffs her posts very much. She's brilliantly bonkers and a joy to watch.

I'm very tempted to buy her BBF Skin Perfector in Light, and the lip gloss in Demon as these are 'my' colours apparently.

But are they as lovely and effective as they look on Instagram?

Hello, lots of people visit this thread looking for Trinny London products - you can find them here. MNHQ.

I don't shop at Top Shop.

BusterGonad · 20/11/2017 17:19

I like the look of her make up range and in Facebook it gets rave reviews. If I was looking for simply packaged hard working make up (I'm no minimalist when it comes to make up) then I'd think about buying.

MargeryFenworthy · 20/11/2017 17:35

A friend is a huge huge fan of hers. I think she's entertaining but as a black woman I suspect the colour range on offer might be a little limiting.

ABuckToothedGirlinLuxembourg · 20/11/2017 17:48

Yes, I bought four products, unimpressed with them all. BFF, Contour blusher and Eyeshadow.

Brickshed7 · 20/11/2017 18:13

Why weren't you impressed Abucktoothedgirl?

ABuckToothedGirlinLuxembourg · 20/11/2017 22:14

I don’t know how to say this without sounding brand snobby. So I’m just going to say it. I use a lot of high end products, and they really aren’t comparable, and for the price she is charging they should be.

Brickshed7 · 20/11/2017 22:58

You aren't sounding brand snobby at all, just telling it as you see it but that is disappointing because as you said the make up is expensive. I was all for buying quite a few items but wanted to read people's reviews and apart from yours all the other reviews I've seen have been really favourable, especially those on Insta. I may rethink my purchases! Think I might just buy one or two items to see what I think instead of jumping in and buying the whole stack full.

Tooticki · 21/11/2017 01:27

I think it is a good idea to try a few things first, that’s what I did and then I repurchased. You need to find what is right for you.

Now, I don’t know what is considered high end and what is more mid - but I have a bathroomcupboard full of MAC, Armani, Ysl, Bobbi Brown, Chanel - and Trinny fits right in in my opinion. But the formula does benefit from warming it in your fingers and applying with your fingertips. That’s how it was planned after all.

ZaraW · 21/11/2017 04:16

I use high end cosmetics and it's just as good. Am really impressed with the lip colour/blusher it's a colour I wouldn't have looked twice at but it works surprisingly well with my colouring.

SukiTheDog · 21/11/2017 15:00

The website is so annoying the way it flits about. I can’t look at any of the colours long enough to make a decision. Nope, wouldn’t buy. I think Trinny’s look is very plastic and heavily reliant on “the knife” and Botox. You don’t need to spend that much to get those shades/matches to skin tone.

Brickshed7 · 21/11/2017 16:25

It's the portability that I really like. So easy to put a stack in your bag and off you go. I am a brush user though so I will have to re educate myself about application. I'm going to order the BFF cream and foundation and take it from there. If I like those I shall order some more. I do use high end make up so it will be interesting to compare Trinny's products to what I already have.

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 21/11/2017 17:17

But everything is easy to slip into my bag, except big palettes, and I don't use palettes. A blusher in a flat case is easier than a pot.

Also, other compacts have mirrors, so can be used anywhere.

Also, I dont like using fingers for retouching on the go, it's not hygienic.

Tooticki · 21/11/2017 17:26

I had some thoughts on the hygiene aspect too. But I only tend to use lipgloss truly on the go. For other touchups I want a sink for washing my hands, and a big mirror - so that means a loo. But it’s still convenient.

BusterGonad · 21/11/2017 18:38

Fingers don't worry me so long as I don't share my make up (generally I don't as I'm very possessive of it).

Cecileanneinga · 25/11/2017 07:45

I purchased her products and the match to me is very accurate and the prices lists are very reasonable and competitive for quality makeup skincare

Cecileanneinga · 25/11/2017 07:50

Personally i love all of the products . They are easy to use great packaging inexpensive USA shipping and Do not cause cloggings of the pores ...btwshe is not a plastics surgeon or a dermatologist....be realistic.

VanillaSugar · 25/11/2017 09:10

cecil Hi Trinny! Grin

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 25/11/2017 12:24

Yes, we got it first time, Cecil.
Loud and clear.

Tooticki · 25/11/2017 19:12

She will makeover Susannah next Monday. Should be fun! (Am not being snarky, genuinely looking forward to it. Brilliant to unwind to after stressful day at work)

Brickshed7 · 25/11/2017 19:51

I’m really looking forward to the Susannah make over too Tooticki! I love watching her, she is quite mad but knows her stuff and is totally entertaining.

Methenyouplus4 · 25/11/2017 20:08

As there is no in-store presence, it's a real shame there is no tiny tester pots to try. I really like Trinny and feel the product would be decent but I'm on a really tight budget. It would be lovely to pay (say £10) for a tiny version of say 3 lip or cheek options from your match to me colourway so you could pick a favourite before buying full size.

While I'm sure colours would all suit me, there would no doubt be ones I would prefer/get much more use out of-and that's really hard to judge from a pixilated on screen coloured dot.

FOLK from TRINNY IF YOU ARE LISTENING... really small swatches on a simple credit card sized piece of card for a tenner please so we can sample and then buy full sizes Grin GrinGrin. Thank you.

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 25/11/2017 20:25

Yes, but they need to be recyclable.

PollyPerky · 25/11/2017 22:55

They will be made by one of the major brands you just need to know which. Almost all make up is owned by one of a few companies ( maybe 3-4.)

PollyPerky · 25/11/2017 22:58

What's up with her website? You click on a shade and the image is there for seconds then it's gone. Really bad site.

Tooticki · 26/11/2017 07:48

PollyPerky

I wonder if it is a browser issue. It doesn't behave like that for me (on Safari or Firefox). I can easily click between the three images for each shade (look for the three dots on each image to choose which image) and they stay. When I use Explorer the whole site looks a bit wonky (so I avoid Explorer).
