Anyone tried Trinny London products?

I follow Trinny on Instagram and luffs her posts very much. She's brilliantly bonkers and a joy to watch.

I'm very tempted to buy her BBF Skin Perfector in Light, and the lip gloss in Demon as these are 'my' colours apparently.

But are they as lovely and effective as they look on Instagram?

It won't be in the shops it's online only.

RonaldMcDonald · 30/10/2017 03:02

The cheek contour colour looks perfect can't wait for mine to come ...I shamefully spent over £100
I liked the website models photographs etc..v appealing

Tindrum · 30/10/2017 11:34

I really rate her cosmetic knowledge and bought a few items last week. I'm loving the BFF cream, lovely texture and gives a really natural but even quality to your skin. Also the face finish, which is fab at taking away unwanted shininess while remaining sheer – also seems to disguise pores. It is beautifully packaged, smells lovely and feels premium. Good on her, I say, to have the energy to have made this thing happen.

PinkTiger · 30/10/2017 14:21

Charles Saatchi is an investor in her business so it's a no from me. I wouldn't buy it on principle.

I remember working in the city and really the only choices I used to make were hmm, navy suit, navy pin striped suit, black suit, hmmm, pink shirt maybe oooh shake it up a little ......... and meanwhile, t&s were suggesting that people wore jeans under tea dresses. I remember laughing on my own reading it, at the thought of going in to work in jeans with a tea dress over it.

My mum couldn't watch them because of all the boob-grabbing.

QueenLetizia · 30/10/2017 16:09

I hear you PInkTiger.

Is the BFF cream like a very sheer foundation?

Thanks PinkTiger, been meaning to read that article. Spotted it the other day, and wondered if Saachi had swooped in & saved her. Why else would she be with him?

ElmerFudge · 30/10/2017 22:07

Saatchi, obvs...

I really like the idea but for what it is I do think the price is a little high (although if the quality turns out to be absolutely amazing once some honest - rather than blogger friend - reviews are out i’ll rethink that) and also I actually quite like using make up brushes! I like the finish, I like not getting dirty fingers - the idea of getting a good strong coloured lipstick off my fingers after putting my make up on doesn’t appeal. But then I get the feeling this is aimed more at people who don’t love make up but want to look good, and only want to spend 60 seconds doing it, so are happier not to get an arsenal of brushes out.

Pavonia · 31/10/2017 07:59

I haven't tried it because I'm not convinced by the foundation which contains only 4g of product. Trinny claims it will last for 6 months of daily use. I know the idea is that you only use it where you need it but I'm not convinced that would work for me. I usually use a BB cream or light moisturiser but I think they both give more coverage than the BFF alone would give.

Pavonia · 31/10/2017 08:08

Hopefully I agree, lipstick has stood the test of time for a reason! Although I do think the stack appears well designed (no mascara in a pot yet though!)

ReeOkAh · 01/11/2017 22:22

RonaldMcdonald have you received your order yet? I'm intrigued to hear your opinion.

Tooticki · 13/11/2017 10:45

Hi, I have shopped the TrinnyLondon makeup, and if you are interested in a verdict then here goes:

First: I like it. I like it very very much. The overall impression is quality through and through - and the packaging in those little pots is very clever. They really click together beautifully - like adult Lego, and nothing feels flimsy.

The MatchToMe is clever and it works. You must pay attention to things like is your skin tone light or medium light - but other than that it is easy. I am a 2.0N in The Ordinary's foundations (and Mac and Bobbi Brown) and Trintron is my best matched foundation - but also got Zandy and both work beautifully. I can also use BFF in both Light and Medium. They adapt very well. I am heading into my worst winter paleness now so the lighter option is what I use most - but if I don't feel like adding any other "colour" then I just quickly use the medium options and look more "alive".

The feel of the products is light but pigments are dense, a pot will last a very long time. The items most likely to be reordered more frequently are the BFF and the face mattifier.

Colours:

I went a bit mad and reordered a couple of times and now I have tried most of my MatchTo Me... I like everything but my hero products colourwise is the cheekbones in Kate, the eye colour in Wisdom and the lip and cheek in Freddie. But that's just my colouring. You can trust the tools to give you yours - and the colours are very adaptable. The cheekbones colour works well on my blue eyes too!

I tend to make up my face lightly in the morning, then not really touch up during the day. The Trinny products hold up well - face still looks alright after a day at work. I'd touch up if going on somewhere for the evening though.

I'd say forget about her old boobgrabbing days and try the makeup out if you are at all curious.

Tooticki · 13/11/2017 10:58

Re the pots: before Trinny, the makeup brands I've used who do this creamy makeup in pots thing are RMS beauty (the organic brand) and Joe Blasco (an American pro brand - very very good!). Both are priced a bit higher I think and all pots last a really long time. It's easy to be fooled and think makeup in a pot will run out quickly but they tend to have so much pigment that you go through it very slowly. Running out will not be a problem unless you really want to use a thick layer - which you won't need. I haven't used brushes on the Trinny products but I think that if I ever get one of the darker eyeshades I probably will - and do an eyeliner effect.

Tooticki · 13/11/2017 15:17

The BFF is like a tinted moisturiser and a light reflecting primer had a baby. Not much coverage, but a nice evening out of tone, proper radiance but no glitter. For more coverage you "stipple" on foundation/concealer from the foundation pot with a finger where needed.

ReeOkAh · 17/11/2017 22:04

Thank you for your reviews Tooticki
I was wanting to hear how the "real" people review them. I think it must be hard to give an honest review if you are close friends i.e. Nadine or Caroline.
I have just received my order and I also like them very much. I think the biggest difference is that they feel "dry" but I suppose that is the level of pigment in them. I do feel you will only need a tiny bit to create a nice effect. I look forward to experimenting with them.

Tantpoke · 18/11/2017 14:34

On principle I wouldn't buy Trinny's products due to her involvement with Charles Saatchi

ZaraW · 18/11/2017 16:17

She's cruelty free so I'm going to place an order.

ZaraW · 20/11/2017 10:12

Just got my order. Wisdom eyeshadow is very flattering and easy to apply. Cha Cha lip colour/blush looks fluorescent in the pot but is extremely wearable and looks good. Colours are highly pigmented. The colour match is pretty good. I'm impressed.

I agree Tantpoke - he's an actual investor in her product business - see my link above ^

So those people boycotting do you also refuse to shop at Top Shop because of Phillip Green?
