How to sort my dry lips out? Lip balm doesn't work (pics)

I use lip balm everyday without fail, I’ve tried burts bees, Nivea, Vaseline - among others. I put it on before bed and during the day yet I still have dry patches on my lips. My bottom lip is the worst and actually looks bitty when I apply lipstick. Plus lipstick clings to the dry bits and slides off the other parts of my lips within 30 minutes.
I’ve even tried lip balm under lipstick but still no joy.

What can I do? Is there a magic cream I can use? Fed up with trying to look nice and ending up like a patchy mess within 30 minutes!

Gently rub with a toothbrush and / or gently exfoliate with olive oil and sugar

Have you tried Weleda Baby Face Cream? Has worked magic on my lips (which were much worse than yours!)

Lansinoh nipple cream is amazing, the purple tube. I had a sample pack from a midwife that lasted forever.

It's a sign of dehydration. Try drinking 2 litres of water a day.

Lansinoh and make sure you drink loads of water. Mine get really sore if I get dehydrated. I use Nivea Sooth and Protect most of the time which works well but I think it’s addictive.

Your lipstock maybe drying your lips, do you use that all day stuff? Everyday? I've used vaseline (aloe vera one at the minute) and it works a treat

Up your water intake
Use a lip scrub once or twice a week to exfoliate
Carmex!

Elizabeth arden lip gloss the eight hour cream. I had dry lips for a few days last week I think it's matt lipstick that dries out mine but this stuff has them sorted.

Something in your lipstick might be irritating your lips - I can't wear a lot of lipsticks or even tinted balms as I get the same problem. Can you try not wearing it for a few days and just using plain Vaseline?

I do get on with Revlon ColourBurst balm "pencils" and Hourglass lipsticks (pricey though) - might be worth a try.

I drink 3 litres of water a day - I’m forever going to the loo so can’t possibly up my intake!
I go days not wearing lipsticks abs just wear balms. I’ve tried so many types of lipstick it’s so annoying.

Neals yard wild rose balm helped me a lot. It’s sort of multi purpose and always a must for colder days.

It may be your toothpaste.OralB had that effect on me.

By the sound of it you should try a different toothpaste, it's possible to react to some of the ingredients. Is something that can develop over time.

Another one here in the Blisteze camp.
It's the only thing that sorts my lips when they're like that. Every other lip balm just seems to make them worse!

It’s not dehydration.

The 2l of water a day thing isn’t true. It’s based on a misunderstanding of the fact that if you need 2000kcal a day you need 1ml of metabolic water to use each kcal. That doesn’t equate to drinking 2l of water.
If your pee is darker than a pale straw colour, drink more.

You can actually kill yourself by drinking too much water. And give yourself rotten headaches.

Blistex until they are fixed & then stop using lip salve as it sounds like it is actually drying your lips out

I’ve tried blistex. And all the solutions on here (bar changing toothpaste) and none work.

I actually cannot wear lipstick ever because of this.

I’m always surprised people suggest Vaseline - how can you bear the smell of that in your face? It’s like smearing yourself in petrol

A make up artist I used to work with in my former days in Paris used to lather Vaseline all over my lips then place clingfilm over my lips for about 5-10 minutes, like a lip mask. I can't remember if she had me brush my lips gently with a soft toothbrush and water before OR after the mask, but I did this as well as the Vaseline/clingfilm mask.

I swear by Blistex intensive moisturiser ointment. I tend to only put it on once, maybe twice a day, unlike lip balm (which I am forever applying throughout the day and makes things worse).

Eight hour cream was mentioned above.
I used this on my lips at night (as well as on my face once a week).
I do find Blistex better though. I notice my lips feel hydrated for hours when I use Blistex.

I have the same problem and Jurlique Lovebalm totally worked like nothing else I have tried. Papaya ointment is also fairly effective but love balm is the best.

You'll have to go cold turkey until your body acclimatises itself. Face moisturiser once a day should be enough.
