Arghh, getting a small amount of Juvaderm in my top lip on the 9th October to even up my lips as my bottom lip is quite a lot bigger than the top.

Only problem is I'm a compete wuss with pain and hate needles (think cry when I have to have a blood test!)

Anyone here had them? Do they really hurt?

Jesus Christ, don't be so vain. Why on earth do you want to put yourself through having needles and stuff, if you're terrified.

BellaShLex · 28/09/2017 12:43

It doesn't hurt, it can be uncomfortable for a second but just as you start to feel it the sensation stops as the needle is removed. I've had them done several times over the last few years, nobody ever realised they are the result of filler unless I tell them. I think that's where all these people going on about them looking awful get that opinion, if you can tell someone's had fillers then they weren't done well!! A good practitioner and great technique means you can't tell. Have a look at the Consultant Clinic on Instagram, they do a lot of pro-bono work for cleft lip patients too as well as purely cosmetic procedures and if you didn't see the before photos you'd never know it was filler.
You'll be fine, come show us photos after!! Grin

Lilmisskittykat · 28/09/2017 12:44

If your terrified why go through with it.

Generally and in the photo examples you can tell it’s filler straight away the lips loose their Cupid bow definition .

I understand it’s a confidence thing though if you are dead set. But the examples of beautiful natural lips are good for thought. I’m sure it will be bearable for the outcome you want.

I feel It’s a very generic look but if you think that you need them and think it’s beautiful that’s the beauty of people - all find something different attractive.

Good luck if you go through with it - you’ll be fine.

StaySexyDontGetMurdered · 28/09/2017 12:50

Who are you doing it for?
Are you really pumping chemicals in to your face for you?

Hazysummerevenings · 28/09/2017 13:09

I'm starting to wish I'd never started this thread now. It's beginning to remind me of the designer handbag thread and all the people gasping in horror about someone wanting to spend £1,000 on a bag!

I didn't start the thread so people could tell me I was insane etc, I wanted to know how much pain people have experienced and whether they've been happy with the result etc.

Op you are entitled to do what you want, I think it was you being terrified about this that made people suggest that it was unnecessary and that you probably look fine without. Real fear of real or imagined pain seems a lot to go through for what is in essence unnecessary

YesVeryGoodVeryStrong · 28/09/2017 13:25

Kylie Jenner looked like a pretty, sweet young woman. Now she looks like a plastic dead-eyed mid 30s woman. I'm glad you don't want to emulate her look!

asongforthelovers · 28/09/2017 13:26

It’s fine, I found it stingiest at Cupid’s bow. I had the smallest amount put in to sort my squint lip, not sure if pain changes with what you get put in?

FeralBeryl · 28/09/2017 13:34

Hazy are you having 0.55mls? That's more than enough for what you want.
They will be able to go around your vermillion border then a bit of plumping in the actual lip body for that.
Ask them to leave your cream on for 20 mins, it really makes a difference.
You can reduce the risk of bruising by avoiding alcohol and anti inflammatory pain relief for 24hours beforehand too.
Use ice once you get home too for the same.

FunkinEll · 28/09/2017 14:27

Re. People not noticing, we do but we're just to polite to say Wink I speak from real life experience.

Unicornberry · 28/09/2017 19:49

I've had lip fillers a good few years ago now. I hate needles and honestly it did really hurt but each injection is fast. I had very small lips before and the fillers looked very natural with just a small enhancement which did go down eventually but my lips have stayed bigger than they were before (in a good way!)

Tryingtokeepfit · 28/09/2017 20:57

I have a tip (this may sound like I'm pointing out the obvious). Don't take any ibuprofen before/after as it thins the blood and can cause bruising!

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 28/09/2017 21:02

I've been watching Masterchef and just realised the reason Ulrika Jonsson looks so odd is because she's had her lips done.

GhostCurry · 28/09/2017 21:19

Interesting thread. I'm interested to know too, it's a shame that people are piling on.

How long does each injection last, how long does the whole procedure take? I don't think I'd get my lips done now, but if my lips start to disappear I might!

CremeDeSudo · 28/09/2017 21:32

Interesting someone mentioned their lips are bigger now naturally as I've been thinking mine have been but not sure if there's residual filler still there!

Both my sessions took about an hour x

Leilaniii · 28/09/2017 22:41

I hate the way people come on threads like this slating the OP. It's so nasty. If you are not interested in these kinds of procedures, then why even open the thread?

It's like me going on a caravanning thread and asking: "Why the hell are you wasting so much money on this caravan? Why do you need a new one? Who are you doing it for, yourself or other people?"

If you are not interested in the subject matter, then stay off the thread rather than post about something you're not interested in to make yourself feel smug and superior.

ShizzleYoDrizzle · 28/09/2017 22:48

But it is an interest, just the not the kind of interest you approve of.

Appuskidu · 28/09/2017 22:55

It's more like someone posting about buying a caravan and saying they're really worried about how much it's going to cost them and that they're going to really struggle financially when they are paying for it. People might then suggest that they didn't do it?

Leilaniii · 28/09/2017 22:56

I don't think the OP has said she can't afford it?

MotherofA · 28/09/2017 22:57

Got to admit I think it looks weird and everyone I know who already had lips and had it done seems to talk with a lisp now ?
I get it if you have no lips but that's it .

I said I don't like needles, granted. But I can and will man up if needed obviously.

I actually don't mind my lips the way they are now, they're a pretty shape (or so I've been told numerous times) however, my top lip is a lot thinner than my bottom and if possible, I'd like to even it out. If it looks fake/ awful/ ridiculous then I will go back and have them dissolved. But I may as well try it.

BillBrysonsBeard · 28/09/2017 23:01

I think when people think of fillers they think of extreme examples. It does look absolutely awful on most celebs as they've gone too far and they always make both lips big and duck-like. But I think someone with really thin lips can benefit from a little bit of plumping. Yes everyone in the world should feel confident about whatever they look like but the real world isn't like that.. Someone feeling self-conscious deserves to be able to feel good about themselves.

Yes I thought Ulrika looked odd too but doubt she stopped at one injection, looks like she has had botox too as couldn't smile properly.
