Worth the money - best products?

Following on from the other thread about crap beauty products, what are your huge wins?

I need enabling inspiration.

I'll start - Waitrose shower gels. Cheap as chips and smell lovely.

Coconut oil as a conditioning treatment for hair. Best thing I've ever used bar none.

JLo Glow perfume. Again cheap and lovely.

Mac Velvet Teddy lipstick. A nice nude that doesn't turn terracotta.

Clinique Quickliner Intense eyeliner. I buy two at a time in case I run out.

Bobbi Brown Intensive Skin Serum concealer. Knocks Touché Eclat into a cocked hat.

What are your wins?

Bars of olive soap for shower.

MumBod · 27/08/2017 13:56

Cheers, Lola Smile

Any more for any more?

Ooh, great thread idea! Here's my first stab (I'll prob think of more):

Collection lasting perfection concealer - cheap and good

Dr Bronner castile liquid soap - organic, few ingredients, lots of uses. Peppermint is my fave fragrance.

Mac Plumful lipstick - so flattering & easy to wear I think it suits everyone

Aveeno moisturiser - just so effective on dry skin but not oily or heavy

Max Factor Masterpiece mascara - best high st mascara IMHO

Una Brennan superfacialist vitamin c cleansing oil - works like a charm and lovely to use because it smells of oranges

LoniceraJaponica · 27/08/2017 14:18

The Bodyshop Sumptuous Camomile Cleansing Butter - justifies its 5 star reviews
Benebalm tinted lip balm
Dr Organic soap - not drying at all, and in an effort to be more environmentally friendly I am ditching liquid soap and shower gel in favour of bars of soap

Juicylucy1800 · 27/08/2017 14:23

Mac - lipstick in Brave - one of my favourite lipsticks , a nice mauve nude

Nars - lipstick in Anita - my absolute favourite lipstick - another mauve nude

Rimmel stay matte powder in transparent- used it for years , have tried a lot of more expensive products and nothing beats it !

Kat Von d liquid pen eyeliner - very very black and doesn't budge

Nars sheer glow foundation - not sheer or glowy ! Good coverage and fairly matte. My HG foundation

Real techniques beauty sponge - amazing for applying liquid foundation

Nivea moisturiser the blue pot for a night cream

Echo coconut oil as a hair mask !

rememberpurpleronnie · 27/08/2017 14:27

M and S Ultimate Sleep Cream

Clinique Pepstart Eye Cream

Korres shower gel, especially the fig one

Lancôme Hypnose Doll Eyes mascara

These are the products I keep going back and buying repeatedly as I haven't found better!

LoniceraJaponica · 27/08/2017 14:35

Those of you who use coconut oil for a hair mask how long do you keep it on for?

Do you wash your hair before and after or just after?

oldlaundbooth · 27/08/2017 14:36

Redken Cleansing Creme.

MissJSays · 27/08/2017 14:51

MumBod · 27/08/2017 16:15

I put coconut oil into dry hair and leave it about half an hour before washing and conditioning it.

It's miraculous.

Interested in the Superdrug cleanser.

Anyone know of a brilliant blusher that lasts more than five minutes?

I use Nars multiple in Orgasm and love the colour but it just disappears.

LoniceraJaponica · 27/08/2017 16:30

Thank you MumBod. I will give it a try.

Alfiemoon1 · 27/08/2017 16:41

Aldi do a cleanse and polish for about £3 it's just as good as Liz Earle and I prefer it to the Superdrug one personally

  1. The Ordinary Buffet, Retonoid 2%, lactic acid, and Caffeine Eye Lotion.
All have ,add a visible difference to my skin.

  2. Heliocare 360 Fluid Cream (in pic)
evens my complexion no provides SPF 50 protection. I use this everyday. The best investment for your future ski .

  3. Veil Complexion Fix pen ( second pic)
    Great for undereye circles

  4. Hourglass powder in ambient light.
Wonderful. I only use this, Heliocare and veil on my skin. No tinted moisturiser, no foundation.

  5. Pureology haircare.
SLS free yet foam beautifully and smell divine. The best haircare I have found.

  6. Dyson hairdryer.
Sorry...it's just fab. My hair is long, thick and takes an age to dry. This does it in no time and helps the condition too.

2 of these are Beauty and the Boutique recommendations ( Heliocare and Veil), I do actually trust her info I have to say.

Hopefully you can understand despite the typos...^^!

OP, which coconut oil do you use? TIA

MumBod · 27/08/2017 17:54

I tried the powder version but it looked like I'd dipped my head in glitter Grin

I wish I'd bitten the bullet and bought a Dotson hairdryer when I was in the market for one a few months back. I bottled it and went for a slightly cheaper GHD one and it's not much better than the cheapo Remington I had before.

Another goodie is Oil of Olay Complete Lightweight Day Fluid. Non-greasy, doesn't clog pores or make my face shiny. Soaks straight in, and great under makeup.

MumBod · 27/08/2017 17:55

I use a jar of coconut oil that I got from Aldi. Just bog standard stuff from the food aisle.

An added bonus is that my hair smells gorgeous for the whole of the next day.

Nars - (laguna) bronzer. It's such a flattering shade.
Also Nars translucent powder!
Mac Studio fix fluid foundation - I'd never change, it's high coverage and really blendable.
Becca - pearl highlighter/The Balm - Mary Lou - really lovely on pale skin tones, although i think both would look great on darker skin tones too.
Also another vote for Kat Von D tattoo liner - it really does not budge Grin

happinessbythekilowatt · 27/08/2017 18:01

Sorry for the typos if there are any, I'm in a rush Smile

MumBod · 27/08/2017 18:05

Ooh, will have a look at Laguna blusher

OP posts:
MumBod · 27/08/2017 18:05

Ah, it's a bronzer, my mistake.

OP posts:
MumBod · 27/08/2017 18:06

Dotson??

Dyson.

(Could have been worse, my phone just tried to change 'Dyson' to 'dysentery')
