A friend of mine uses Hello Fresh and thinks it's really excellent. I'm in a terrible food rut after years of dealing with idiosyncrasies, likes and dislikes and darn right hatred of certain staples. No one cooks here apart from yours truly...but because I refuse to cook twice in any one day, the other main meal is up to individuals to sort out for themselves if they are home. DH sometimes produces rather good Spag Bol....

My DM still says "very with it..." It always has the tinge of disapproval.

I have just ordered this biker zip jacket and want to wear it over my grey lacy White Stuff bargain dress that I bought in the summer for a teatime do at The Lansdowne Club in hoity toity Mayfair. No-one had any comments on WA so I am posting it here and hoping someone might have an opinion...Hmm Bit worried about the polyester and the price....

MrsSchadenfreude · 27/09/2017 00:24

It gets good reviews, Rosen. Try it and see what you think.

My mother says "a bit mod." As in "Janet from the Wine Circle (you know Janet, she had a twin brother, Terry, who committed suicide fifteen years ago in front of a train, and she's married to Ken, who runs the bowls club and they had that daughter who went to your school, Claire, I think it was, who had to get married, to that boy from the estate, and they've now got two kiddies, the same age as yours, although Claire's much younger than you, she had Mr Wallis for maths too, and thought he was a good teacher), well Janet got some flowery trousers from Debenhams, and I thought they were a bit mod, and they had large sizes, so I got you a pair for your birthday."

Bloody hell, sorry. reported self.

MsMartini · 27/09/2017 08:11

Has anyone tried the Jamie's five thing? I know he is annoying and all and some of them look odd but just wondered if it might help rekindle my interest as I could try new things easily?

bigTillyMint · 27/09/2017 09:17

My friend has - working well for her family.

herbaceous · 27/09/2017 12:14

Ooh, I rather fancy trying a bit of Jamie5. His recipes always work, and are tasty. Like Nigella. And unlike Deliah Smith, whose recipes go wrong a lot more often than others, and are bland. Rather like her.

I had a spree in Sainsbury's yesterday. I thought it was still 25% off, but that ended on Monday. But I spent money anyway on 'useful (another mother phrase) smartish clothes for work.

fabric biker jacket to replace the pleather one I left on the train. Loaded it into the car, and slammed the boot on its arm, spoiling it rather.

This pinafore dress.

And a black jumper with big sleeves and a denim blue tunic with flared sleeves and a pulled in waist, neither of which are on the website.

bigTillyMint · 27/09/2017 13:29

I have a navy fabric biker jacket not unlike that Herbs and it is very usefulSmile

hattymattie · 27/09/2017 15:49

OMG - Herbs - I want one too - how is it sizing - normally I'm 10/12?

I promise not to wear it to a meet up - will be mainly wearing in France anyway.

Rosenspants · 27/09/2017 16:02

Jeeez, and here's me ...ordered that stupidly expensive Kettlewell one...
Envy

hattymattie · 27/09/2017 16:21

Pah - it's sold out.

herbaceous · 27/09/2017 16:46

In case it comes back in stock, I bought a 12 and while I can't actually do it up it looks good. And I'm more than a 12 at the moment. So err on the side of small.

hattymattie · 27/09/2017 19:26

I really like the dress too - clearly I'm missing out on Sainsbos.

MsMartini · 27/09/2017 19:45

I really like them both too, Herbs

herbaceous · 27/09/2017 21:00

As in so many days, I was clad entirely from Sainsbos, including boots, today. It's a shame the dress isn't on the website, as it's destined to become a wardrobe staple.

IDismyname · 28/09/2017 06:45

I'm trying to do more with veg for our supper, and less with the meat. Have been diagnosed with gout, so what little protein I did eat, has to reduce further.
Was rather taken back when doc told me to cut back on my red wine consumption. Told him I last drank it about 12 years ago! Cue awkward silence.
So, I'll major on cauliflower and spices and a yoghurty thing, and cook a piece of chicken for DH.
Actually, that reminds me of the great recipe you posted , MI of fritters with a green yoghurt sauce.
I haven't seen many of Jamie's take 5, but I liked what I saw. I occasionally catch up on All 4 with a few episodes.

I'm having to research future trends for my course. Sat and watched 3 TED talks yesterday lunchtime. Fascinating stuff. I'd forgotten how engaging they are.

Thanks for the reminder about TU. must check out their website. Whenever I wear the navy and white jacket I bought back in the spring gets admired everywhere I go.

motherinferior · 28/09/2017 08:01

Cloud, I have many lovely forrin recipes of a vegetablearian nature.

Cremolafoam · 28/09/2017 10:06

MI please do add them to the Crepeynet if you can. I am in a dreadful food rut, but have to say the pot fillet was delicious and has lasted cold for the last couple of lunches with 🍃 leaves and apple chopped up.Smile
Like the jacket and dress very much Herbs. Mrs S, i did laugh at the conversation you posted with your mother. It sounded so like my own interactions with my mother. Only you'd have to add in the inference that other people's children have married better, are richer, thinner, happier and more exciting that either me or my sister. 'Swish' is her other word. As in "That's a very swish looking trouser suit" Hmm

Off for a mani-pedi express this morning. Then dsis is coming over with the intent of blackberrying. Sky looks gloomy though.

Am tempted by this dress

Cremolafoam · 28/09/2017 11:01

Looks cosy, soft and useful MI. Fancy that myself.Smile

bigTillyMint · 28/09/2017 13:57

I have one similar in khaki MI and I wore it a lot last winter.

motherinferior · 28/09/2017 14:16

I do get too cold for it on its own but I could layer up...

bigTillyMint · 28/09/2017 15:24

I wear ir with thick tights and boots.

motherinferior · 28/09/2017 15:43

I would add a vest and a thick cardie. I'm a wimp Grin

MsMartini · 28/09/2017 17:41

The link doesn't work for me, oddly.

Some of MI's recipes are in the cookbook, Cloud, which is also on the crepe web. Would be great to have more recipes there - I am in a rut too!
