Never was there a more vague term than smart casual. It varies according to venue as well..., work place vs social event. For me it just means chucking a jacket over whatever. Some places smart jeans are fine, some places it's smart trews or chinos but no denim. At some party type events it means black trousers and a naice top. Confused

Rosenspants · 14/09/2017 09:28

I was so cross with DH last week. They have dress down Friday and he went off in wideish (i.e. Not fitted....best for gardening... ) horrible Landsend jeans and a short sleeve check shirt.

motherinferior · 14/09/2017 09:43

I have shoved in my all-purpose black frock - £7 in the chazzer, originally from Next - which I have literally worn to concerts, funerals and parties. Is stretchy and comfortable but also looks quite fitted and nice (shows bosoms).

motherinferior · 14/09/2017 11:09

MrsW, was it The Girls you recommended?

hattymattie · 14/09/2017 11:29

Rose - my DH is equally annoying - in my younger days I used to look at certain guys at work and wonder how their wives let them out like that. Now I understand - they are incorrigible.

For me smart casual - black jeans - not too worn - and smart jacket.

I have a cold and can't sleep and am feeling generally gumpy. Wonders if this is it - menopausal old bag.

Rosenspants · 14/09/2017 12:01

Poor you Hatty I have been a menopausal old bag since my early one, at the ripe old age of 41. You are in good company except you are not an old bag, of course. I show off about my stylish Parisian friend... (that's you...)
glad someone else has the rage over our DHs need to be an absolute VAGRANT. Mine also won't lose weight...but I can't say anything otherwise I'd be fat shaming. Wouldn't I? I just say to him...fgs, buy clothes that fit you at least. Angry. Why do men hate shopping when I love it so much? 😂

MrsWobble3 · 14/09/2017 12:09

MI - yes. By Emma Cline (I think, or similar sounding name if not that).

motherinferior · 14/09/2017 14:35

I shall download. I have treated myself to a few others tooBlush

hattymattie · 14/09/2017 17:27

Oh Rose - you are so kind - I'd better not meet them in RL or buy the DM'sWink

Rosenspants · 14/09/2017 18:12

Not kind, Hatty true. Smile

BeachysFlipFlops · 15/09/2017 22:03

So I would like to find a light weight hoodie, something for pottering around, dog walking etc? Nothing too 'down with the kids'....

My last one was Gap, but so full of holes.

MsMartini · 15/09/2017 22:14

I've got a Decathlon (Domyos - their gym range) one, Beachy, which is light but warm, not bulky, dries quickly, and is utterly plain (and lacking in style). I wear it loads....

magimedi · 15/09/2017 22:34

Checking in & checking out.

Won't be around for a while.

- which is swimming gear, shorts & T shirts.
MsMartini · 15/09/2017 22:55

Magi have a wonderful time!

IDismyname · 15/09/2017 23:02

Beachy I have a couple or three of the Regatta soft shell zip up jackets. Bought the first one to train for the Moonwalk about 5 years ago. Trouble is, they don't have hoods. I do wear them a lot.

(I can't dog walk with a hood up. I hate losing my peripheral vision)

Talking of men's jeans, DH has a very expensive pair from RM Williams. They're awful. Baggy in the seat and the leg, and really high on the waist. He should just stick to his 501s. I try and relegate then to the gardening clothes drawer.

IDismyname · 15/09/2017 23:03

Just changing phones and mobile provider, so not on WA at the moment. Will try again tomorrow. Still same number. Etc etc.

hattymattie · 16/09/2017 10:01

Uniqlo is my go to hoody place.

motherinferior · 16/09/2017 16:24

Is decathlon's gym range good? I need some kind of zip top to run in.

MsMartini · 16/09/2017 19:02

I think so but not tried much - they have their own make (Domyos) and Nike etc, so I usually go there as decent range and reasonable prices. Dunno about zip tops but I have found Reebok gym tops accommodate norks in a way other gym tops don't - either too tight or fall over my head during mountain climbers!

hattymattie · 16/09/2017 19:12

MI - In France practically everybody buys their gym stuff at Decathlon. I think it's pretty good - they have a range of choice and are really inexpensive. Uniqlo also have a good gym range - and did indeed have zip running tops when I was in last week.

Rosenspants · 16/09/2017 19:16

I usually get mine from H&M ... [www2.hm.com/en_gb/productpage.0237347025.html]]

Rosenspants · 16/09/2017 19:18

Link fail but if you go into the site and type in 'ladies hoodies' lots come up. I get the zip up one which comes in lots of colours.

Have a great trip MM

MsMartini · 16/09/2017 20:07

Actually, running range is Kalenji (I hate running Grin) and they have zip up windproof running tops with pockets for phone and keys, that sort of thing?

BeachysFlipFlops · 17/09/2017 08:23

Thanks all, yes, fairly basic requirement but my old one is so loved and holey, it will be a wrench to chuck it.....

MrsSchadenfreude · 17/09/2017 16:40

I often think I should just pay a percentage of my salary into Decathlon every month. The DDs have everything from there, from leggings to hoodies, to hiking trousers, rucksacks, walking boots, sleeping bags...

Have just found out to my cost that my walking shoes leak..
