Is anyone constantly uncomfortable?

This is worse than ever today because I have PMT and my already sizeable breasts are like rocks, but if I'm honest it's a constant problem.

I am constantly uncomfortable in my clothes. I want to rip all my bras off even though they are the correct size and fit because they bother me so much. I wear skinny jeans because more relaxed styles make me look 2 sizes bigger, but they are so uncomfortable - and they're not too small - the next size up just fall down which adds a whole new dimension to being uncomfortable. My knickers constantly give me a wedgie, tops are always too tight over my boobs because they're massive. If I get something to fit over them it makes the rest of me look huge because it's too big and billowy everywhere else. I constantly feel in turn strangled and drowned by my clothes and the feeling of the tightness (even though they fit - it's how they're meant to fit, they're just uncomfortable styles - apart from the breasts issue with tips). I feel like giving in and living in tracksuit bottoms, pull on sports bras (which I can't even wear for the gym because they don't support my MASSIVE MONSTER TITS) and baggy tshirts. Can anyone help or at least identify??

(Size 12-14 hourglass by the way if that makes a difference)

You sound so uncomfortable OP! From what you've written I can only imagine that what you are wearing doesn't suit you. Do you need to alter your style? I'm a 12/14 hourglass and my skinnies are very comfortable because they aren't tight. I get the size that fits my hips and thighs and have the waist taken in. £7/8 a pair. It's worth shopping around for a bra, only buying one at a time until you find a style that's truly comfortable. I used to wear a bog standard M&S one. Then they stopped making it and I spent a year trying to find something. Now I have found my bra again. The brand is P something, same with pants - hey need a fuller bottom and proper fit around the leg so they can't ride up. If what you're wearing isn't comfortable then it doesn't fit you properly. I'm wishing you tons of money and free time to shop and get yourself comfortable OP!

Panache bras?

I felt like this, and I am convinced the type of jeans I was wearing were giving me back pain! So I stopped giving a toss about whether the tops looked billowy and tend to wear wide leg trousers (fit the waist, allow the thighs room). Also realised that I have to cough up for decent bras since I am a 32H. Can't buy nice little Asda, Primark or CK ones! I wear a lot of dresses too, so there's nothing squishing my waist.

Perhaps go off path, OP? Try some stuff on that you wouldn't normally?

Hairq · 04/08/2017 15:48

Thank you!

My skinnies definitely fit and look fine. I think the problem is that high waisted is fashionable at the moment - and this actually is good for me because the high waist holds my tummy in - but God, high waists are uncomfortable. In my head I'd like low rise bootcuts back again, but then I remember that they were always sliding down and showing bum crack and that these days I have a little tummy from having babies that I didn't have when they were last fashionable, so that would probably hang over the top disgustingly.

I tend to get fitted for bras at bravissimo and the ones I have bought from there after a fitting are the most comfortable (but still fairly evil). I do wonder if it's just a big boob problem. I don't ever remember bras being uncomfortable when I had smaller breasts (although I was wearing a back size that was 2 sizes too big so maybe that's why).

Knickers are difficult. I thought maybe I needed to size up so hot size 14s, but they ride up even worse. Thongs are painful bum floss, short style pants get wedged, and bikini style are promising until a (ahem) flap gets caught whilst walking along.

Thanks for suggestions Bobbin. I feel not too bad in winter as a big jumper over jeans or a dress with tights are both fairly comfortable. I feel bad in dresses in summer though - like a ship in full sail. I think it might be all the arm flesh on display. I never feel all cool and casual like everyone else looks.

BobbinThreadbare123 · 04/08/2017 15:52

I wear big knickers. M and S full briefs are spot on. Stops any wedging, flossing or bunching.

Hairq · 04/08/2017 15:53

I shall investigate the large pants.

Oh me neither in summer. I hate summer. I look like a scraggly haired crazy lady. But I don't care. I just wear t-shirt dresses and Birkenstocks, for comfort.

thepatchworkcat · 04/08/2017 15:54

I can't find comfy jeans any more. I used to live in jeans and I've had to give them for other types of trousers. Don't know if it's an age thing or what - tried a billion sizes and styles in the last year or so and none of them are right!Sad

LaurieFairyCake · 04/08/2017 15:54

I'm an hourglass and I mostly wear leggings and tunics. Smart ones though, no thin shit.

And always in jersey fabric. I too have massive norks and just moving about in anything NOT jersey causes stuff to ride up.

thepatchworkcat · 04/08/2017 15:54

give them up

thenightsky · 04/08/2017 15:56

I'm the same OP. High waisted jeans are ok as long as I am standing up. Sit down and they just roll into a nasty hard lump across my tummy button. I'm forever hoiking bits of me up... jeans over my muffin top, boobs back into cups etc.

The temptation to just put my pyjamas on as soon as I get home is too much sometimes.

Hairq · 04/08/2017 15:56

Yes, scraggly haired crazy lady in summer here too. Well groomed and fairly nice looking in autumn and winter.

I've never done leggings and tunics. Are they still fashionable? I don't even know! I've always bypassed leggings purely because of the bad teenage memories.

I'd stopped wearing jeans until I tried Uniqlo and Dash (I'm afraid I had labelled Dash as old lady clothes - for which I am very sorry). Much more comfy than the Topshop crap I used to wear.

Hairq · 04/08/2017 15:57

High five nightsky It is not even 4pm and I am desperate to put my PJs on already.

Have never tried Uniqlo - will add that to the list of places to try.

The only jeans I wear are these ones - they were recommended on Mumsnet over a year ago for my hourglass figure.

I have thrown every other pair away. I love modal so much.

These haven't faded at all, not shrunk, not changed shape in any way. Still totally perfect.

Totally get what you mean. I have almost exactly the same problem. I find that tapered leg trousers from Next are really comfy and if you pair them with the right top (camisoles for me) and shoes/sandals (I like trainers or Birkenstocks), they look quite nice. I live in jersey skirts as the waistband is soft, I have some straight ones with slits up to the knee, and a couple of maxi skirts. I get bras from Bravissimo, the Cleo ones are best for me but I do find by 5 in the evening, I need to take it off. However, big pants have been a revelation. M&S lace topped full briefs have made a massive difference to my comfort levels!

Sevendaysinaweek · 04/08/2017 16:00

Big pants make all the difference. I recommend sloggi maxi, either with or without tummy control. Totally unglamorous but fabulously comfortable. Don't think I'll even wear anything else. Also: straight down maxi skirts with elasticated waist band. Got a lovely one in fatface last summer.

OuchLegoHurts · 04/08/2017 16:01

Well you're definitely wearing the wrong type of knickers! There's a huge difference between styles and most women can't just pick up a pair they like the look of and automatically feel comfortable in them. I find either bikini or high leg are the most comfy for me as both have good coverage in the back which means no wedgies!

YourHandInMyHand · 04/08/2017 16:02

ME! I had a meltdown on a train day out with DS the other day and went into H+M and came out with a slouchy t-shirt and the most softest, comfiest harem trousers ever. And sandals.

I feel constantly constricted by my clothes and shoes! Like they are suffocating me, and wearing things like jeans feel so so so heavy that I actually feel tired wearing them?! I know that sounds weird. Hmm

My clothes and shoes DO fit me, as do my bras. I've always worn properly fitted wired bras and never been one that can't wait to take them off but lately I can't stand wearing them.

I don't know what's up with me. Chatting to friends recently and they put it down to age and hormones ha ha.

OuchLegoHurts · 04/08/2017 16:03

Sorry I see you've tried bikini, then I'd agree with others and say try full coverage ones,ie big knickers! Who cares what they look like, they'll be under your clothes. Cosy! Grin

LaurieFairyCake · 04/08/2017 16:04

I've just ordered this tunic and it's typical of what I mean. Jersey, no tits out. I wear navy full length leggings from Boden most of the year as again with my hourglass (I size down) they don't wibble about. In summer I will wear 3/4 navy ones instead.

In winter I wear them with boots rather than tights as there's more coverage and tights slip down more with hourglass figures. I do occasionally wear tights but only with pants over the top like Wonder Woman.

I'm not fashionable and I'm late 40's Grin

However I'm comfortable and smart enough. I hate thin leggings though and mine have loads of elastane so there's no cellulite or legs underneath on show.

LaurieFairyCake · 04/08/2017 16:04

Following this thread, I have exactly the same problem. My default is always a dress but I so want to wear trousers

menopausehag · 04/08/2017 16:15

Hi Hairq,
Leggings are good, JEGGINS are great! Dorothy Perkins Eden, I've got every colour. Loose, v-neck top, or shirt, Tesco stretchy knickers (awesome find!), some jangly bracelets for general distraction ..that's prob my most comfortable look. But I totally feel your pain! Smile
