Is anyone constantly uncomfortable?

Hairq · 04/08/2017 15:21

This is worse than ever today because I have PMT and my already sizeable breasts are like rocks, but if I'm honest it's a constant problem.

I am constantly uncomfortable in my clothes. I want to rip all my bras off even though they are the correct size and fit because they bother me so much. I wear skinny jeans because more relaxed styles make me look 2 sizes bigger, but they are so uncomfortable - and they're not too small - the next size up just fall down which adds a whole new dimension to being uncomfortable. My knickers constantly give me a wedgie, tops are always too tight over my boobs because they're massive. If I get something to fit over them it makes the rest of me look huge because it's too big and billowy everywhere else. I constantly feel in turn strangled and drowned by my clothes and the feeling of the tightness (even though they fit - it's how they're meant to fit, they're just uncomfortable styles - apart from the breasts issue with tips). I feel like giving in and living in tracksuit bottoms, pull on sports bras (which I can't even wear for the gym because they don't support my MASSIVE MONSTER TITS) and baggy tshirts. Can anyone help or at least identify??

(Size 12-14 hourglass by the way if that makes a difference)

Where are those jeans from Laurie?

yourhand I can visualise said meltdown all too well. I feel like hitting people (or even inanimate objects) sometimes because of feeling so uncomfortable.

Thank you for the pant advice lego and sevendays I will buy some big old full briefs. My partner will be horrified but will have to get over it Grin

Hourglass and big boobs is a hard road!

I found that wrap-style tops gave much more room in the cleavage while not looking like a sack, and always wore a belt with jeans to pull the waist in a bit.

Hairq · 04/08/2017 16:20

Thank you hag I kind of feel like o need advice like this on what to actually put on because the current silhouette is not kind to hourglasses - yet all the fitted stuff I used to wear pre DC would look equally awful as I now have lumps and bumps that I don't want to draw attention to. Add the discomfort to that and it's a nightmare. I so envy the small breasted and anyone with a straight up and down figure. Hell, even a pear shape would be amazing - you get to wear all those little cami tops because there's no big boobs or shoulders to deal with and if you wear a maxi dress with a delicate tip half there's no way of telling that a giant bum lurks beneath. Whereas in the same dress I look like Beverley from Abigail's Party Hmm

Those modal jeans are Next. Use that picture for description though, there's about 400 pairs of 'jeans' - £42

ThatsWotSheSaid · 04/08/2017 16:31

I'm exactly the same. I think I have sensory issues. I never wear jeans or anything even remotely restrictive. I live in flip flops harem trousers baggy tops and sports bras.
No advice I'm afraid.

dressinblack · 04/08/2017 16:35

To tell the truth..I wear sports leggings, pull on sports bras and baggy tees with flip flops as often as I can get away with it because like you I am ALWAYS uncomfortable and my body shape isn't like yours either.

I just rock the look (in my head)

dressinblack · 04/08/2017 16:36

I also don't wear knickers as often as I can get away with it!!

shumway · 04/08/2017 16:37

I thought it was just me - I wear elasticated waist wide leg trousers with men's baggy t-shirts and men's xl hoodies. And yes to big knickers. I can't stand anything tight or restrictive.

Hairq · 04/08/2017 16:44

Since I last posted on this thread I've removed my painful clothes and donned bleach stained trackie bottoms, a vest (with no bra) and a hoodie. I look like Wayneyta Slob but the comfort factor is bang on.

I think you should start by upgrading your lounge wear Grin

I've just had a long leisurely bath and am now rocking pyjamas

neveradullmoment99 · 04/08/2017 16:58

I am like this with bras. I am a 32E and i find my bras are evil!!! I hate them. The underwire totally pisses me off but i need the support.

hopsalong · 04/08/2017 17:02

I used to be like this in my 20s. Now it's possible that I'm constantly unstylish but that's another problem.

Could you try going shopping and trying on exactly the same styles/ kinds of clothes that you own now, all one size up? I think people tend to fall victim to buying the smallest size they can get into, but that is almost always a size too small (just as the largest size that will stay up without falling down is a size too big!). I used to buy a size 8/10 everywhere, now I buy 10/12s, despite staying same size, and I honestly look and feel a lot better.

hopsalong · 04/08/2017 17:05

PS on jeans: if you have an hourglass figure (me too), you need a belt.

34AQuid · 04/08/2017 17:13

I have sensory issues, I've come to realise. I find so many clothes unbearable and its getting worse as I get older and grumpier.

If I could, I'd live in soft leggings and a jersey tunic Grin...but alas, I have to look decent for work and am slightly vain.

Things that make life more bearable for me are:

100% cotton, no-wire bras when I can get away with them (big of nork, too, so sometimes I do have to wear something more substantial depending on clothes and occasion).

High waisted, soft, stretchy jeans. High waists are less annoying to me then mid-rise, which cut into my mum tummy.

Comfy shoes. Sod narrow, pointy, high heeled affairs.

Soft, 'thrown-on' coats and open-front jersey blazers. I hate feeling all stuffed in and buttoned up.

Big, cotton knickers. Embrace your inner-Granny, I say!

I've made myself sound like Nora Batty, there, haven't I? Grin

34AQuid · 04/08/2017 17:14

I'm also an hourglass 12, btw, and jeans are hard. I've had some success with H&M sculpting skinnies, although they don't last longer than a year (but are cheap).

Mourning the Levi Curve range Sad.

iamapixiebutnotaniceone · 04/08/2017 17:23

I still swear by Levi's jeans, you can have them altered and fitted in the shop if you have one nearby. Jeans from places like New Look or H&M are always a terrible fit, I think it's down to the way the fabric is cut as there's no give in them in the right places.

MaisieDotes · 04/08/2017 17:26

I had this for years. I was fine when working full time as skirts and tights are lovely to me but as a SAHM I've really struggled.

Bra intervention bras fucking kill me, but now I can't go back to the old style either Sad I wear old stretchy breastfeeding bras when I'm at home (I haven't bf in over a year) I also bought new ones yesterday on amazon

Knickers, yes full briefs are ok for not going up my arse but they also give me weird vpl. I find M&S high leg modal no vpl ones the best of any I've tried. They are somewhere between a bikini and a full brief.

Jeans- I'm an apple, not an hourglass and even though I have been well within the healthy bmi range I have recently had to start quite a serious diet because I just can't cope with my stomach any more and the discomfort of jeans' waistbands. Basically I have given up carbs now so that I can stop being so fucking uncomfortable all the time.

It has worked but I MISS CARBS!

PickAChew · 04/08/2017 17:29

I have sensory issues but have grown to quite like the secure feeling of skinny jeans.

PickAChew · 04/08/2017 17:31

And yes to big knickers. You don't see men routinely wearing silly little pants that don't do their job properly.

barkinginessex · 04/08/2017 17:33

Yep! I'm exactly the same, all of my clothes are uncomfortable as they mostly aren't casual in any way! I suffer for fashion!

banivani · 04/08/2017 17:59

Approximately 80% of my brain capacity at all times is taken up with knicker thoughts. At the moment I'm well stocked with ok knickers but already panicking about what to do when they wear out - will the shops have anything comfy, how much money will I waste on WedgiePants before I find some good ones etc etc. Very sad.

crashandburnt · 04/08/2017 18:10

Me too. Massive boobs something wrong with my arse which means I'm always inadvertently flashing it. It's like I'm thin in that bit and fat all around it so nothing stays up but if I go down a size it cuts into me. Can't win being curvy.

Hemlock2013 · 04/08/2017 18:25

Me too!!!

I'm a 12 and no boobs but uncomfortable in everything. Haven't worn an underwire bra since dd was born 5 years ago, have tried and had to remove after 30 mins.

Knickers are only good if size 16 plus ime.

Jeans are vile. Too tight on the thigh or too loose and hang off my flat bum. I wear skirts and dresses now.

I've looked at cos and Zara and uniqlo and anthropologie for slouchy jersey trousers but nothing looks quite right. I need help!!!!!!!

All I do is moan about being uncomfortable x

Happy50 · 04/08/2017 18:52

I find many many clothes uncomfortable but have now found my style I love and find so comfortable
I only wear natural fibres - cotton ( organic is the softest), bamboo is lovely, jersey and some viscose.
I buy much of my underwear from Luva Huva.
They have gorgeous bigger knickers
I wear leggings as tights or in place of skinny jeans.
Over which you could wear your comfy sports bra, tops which drape but are not tight
Boden leggings are very very soft
This gives a slim silhouette
Summer
I wear cotton fit and flare dresses with pretty flat sandals or boots
I too need to show my small waist compared to my hips or I look 2 sizes larger
Also , soft palazzo jersey trousers are a comfortable cool alternative
Alternatively I wear a very soft jersey tube skirt, leggings and a very soft big top so it's balanced
Winter coats are very soft cocoon coats - quite short with leggings to balance out

Look at bamboo.co.uk for comfortable bras

When I went out I use to wear fitted clothes which I knew suited me but felt trussed up and the rest of the time felt like a bag lady ( but comfortable)

I went on a house of colour style day - told the lovely consultant all my issues
She found me a style I love and feel so good in
Not cheap but so worth it

NotTheCoolMum · 04/08/2017 18:59

I have found my people Grin

First thing I do when I get home is take off all the clothes and undies and get into pjs. BLISS.

Also a 12 hourglass with norks. Hmm...
