Isn't she just fabulously stylish and cool for a 64 year old.

As a 50 year old, what can I do to try to emulate her ?

OP posts:
Lottapianos · 13/07/2017 22:22

She does look very cool. And she has one very devoted man at her side, which helps Wink

The only thing I have noticed about her style is sleeves to at least elbow length and hems to at least knee length. And pale / pastel colours which suit her blonde colouring

burnishedsilver · 13/07/2017 23:15

Apparently Donald Trump has just told her the she's 'in such good shape' Shock

LockedOutOfMN · 13/07/2017 23:38

I love her clothes and style and how she looks but a key part of why I think she's awesome is that she looks purposeful and like she has a brain in her head.

IvorHughJarrs · 13/07/2017 23:39

She is very thin which does make it easier to look stylish

Chestervase1 · 13/07/2017 23:46

Her clothes are supplied by Louis Vuitton and other French fashion houses, and are always expensive, either couture or designer. I think she wears a wig or hair extensions but she is a very pretty woman. Certainly not a look you can recreate on a budget .

Colourmylife1 · 13/07/2017 23:48

Is she not just fabulously stylish and cool? What does being 64 have to do with it?

LaurieFairyCake · 13/07/2017 23:57

I think her age has something to do with it as I can't imagine giving so much of a fuck in 20 years to look that good

I'm heading for 50 and can barely be bothered to apply make up now preferring to drift about drinking tea

But then I'm not the First Lady of France.

She looks lovely and very wealthy looking. That Louis Vuitton shit is 3-10k for an outfit.

BagelGoesWalking · 14/07/2017 00:02

What Laurie said ^^ Grin I never bothered that much about clothes and never had jobs which needed corporate clothing (decent looking, not jeans but not high end corporate) and I certainly can't be bothered now.

Colourmylife1 · 14/07/2017 00:23

I have many friends approaching her age and some of them are far cooler and stylish than they were 20 years ago. They have the time and money to devote to looking after themselves and dressing well. They understand style and wear what suits them rather than following fashion. I simply don't see that it's a question of age.

Colourmylife1 · 14/07/2017 00:41

Sorry - I didn't mean to derail the thread! I too would love to emulate her style. Sadly I do agree that it's a look that is hard to copy as it relies on being very rich and very thin - and I'm neither!

nina2b · 14/07/2017 09:32

I think she looks awful and has clearly had a lot of work done. She has a simian look and if that is a wig, she should surely replace it.

SuperBeagle · 14/07/2017 09:36

She dresses well, but she could rival old Donald with the orange fake tan. I don't find her attractive at all.

Floisme · 14/07/2017 09:38

If I was feeling snippy (hard to believe but yes, it's been known) I might be a bit piqued at the backhandedness of 'stylish and cool for a 64 year old.' Or at the expressions of surprise that anyone in that age bracket might still be interested in how they look. But hey I've got the day off and it's nearly the weekend so I will glide on serenely.

What's significant, I think, is that there are so few women over 60 in the public eye and even fewer held up as any kind of style 'role model'. Dame Helen is lovely but jeez it's tedious seeing her photo every single time the topic comes up. So although Macron's style isn't really mine, I welcome that she's getting noticed.

What I do take from Macron is that her clothes are always very structured. At the moment I'm grappling with how to dress well when your body is beginning to slide away from you and I think structure is way to go. What I need to figure out is how to build that into my wardrobe when I'm a fairly casual dresser who doesn't have dinner with heads of state that often.

nina2b · 14/07/2017 09:41

Trump's comment about her being in "good shape" implies in good shape for her age. Horrible backhanded compliment. Wonder what he looks like naked? Omg - better not to go there. Ugh

Gobbolinothewitchscat · 14/07/2017 09:45

I think she looks terribly mutton. All knarly sun damaged limbs and terrible, obvious dental work. Sorry

SuperBeagle · 14/07/2017 09:45

Melania is much more stylish, IMO...

Of course she's almost 2 decades younger, but her style is much nicer.

Floisme · 14/07/2017 09:48

So you should be sorry Gobbo It's perfectly possible to say you dislike someone's style without resorting to 'mutton'.

MumBod · 14/07/2017 09:51

Where did all the cash come from? Her husband? Because she was a teacher wasn't she?

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 14/07/2017 09:53

She would have some funding from the state for presentation purposes.

mrssmiling · 14/07/2017 09:58

Apparently Louis Vuitton loan her clothes...

Trump's comments...Shock

Gobbolinothewitchscat · 14/07/2017 10:00

Well she does look like mutton dressed as lamb. What's wring with stating a matter of fact? My french chum thinks ne pas soignée! I think they are even ruder about the clothes etc over there Grin

nina2b · 14/07/2017 10:02

Carla Bruni still looks amazing. Work done yes but she is chic in the true sense:

And when she was the First Lady, her style was so so chic:
