Saw it in the window on high St Kensington. Are they promoting it on purpose?

Maudlinmaud · 27/05/2017 15:04

I like the yellow thing if I was tall I'd definitely be having that. Wouldn't put a black top under it though.

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 27/05/2017 19:17

I would love the yellow dress but not in yellow.

MrsDustyBusty · 27/05/2017 19:19

Why all the mustard as well? There's no complexion suited to it.

MumUndone · 27/05/2017 19:27

I like the taupe coat and the red suit in the article. M&S veers between really great and truely, completely, horrible.

BagelGoesWalking · 27/05/2017 23:36

Drop in sales and that was before this season!!

Rowe described the clothing market as “volatile and slightly depressed” The customers are fucking volatile and depressed by your clothing designs Grin

Rowe ... will be handing over to Jill McDonald – who has been poached from car parts and bike retailer Halfords – in the autumn. Interesting

Coming next season from the woman who brought you your MOT and bike chains...

On another thread https://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/styleandd_beauty/2919935-that-awful-pink-m-s-dress , the fearless Gingernaut has been busy accessorising the Pink Dress.

I actually think it's an elaborate psychology experiment. See how long it takes for people to become habituated to it, and begin to accept it. I bet someone has thought, oh, it's much better in navy... but it's still the same horrid fabric and shape.

Re sleeves ... what middle-aged M&S customers want is for a brilliant designer to pull off the upper body equivalent of the bootcut jean - something which magically negates the bingo wing. But it also needs to be something we can work in - be that at a keyboard or washing up or whatever, and those ridiculous 'fluted'(actually bell-shaped so not even the elegance implied by 'flute') are not it.

I like how even the model can't conceal her disdain for the clothes Grin

EnidButton · 28/05/2017 01:53

Ginger in that dress is the tonic we all needed. Incredible. Grin

It's mind boggling. There is simply nothing in the shops that I want to buy! The past few days I've been wearing dresses, a couple of which were over ten years old (Monsoon before it ditched the nice natural silks and cottons), and I've had loads of compliments, asked where I got them. The answer "in 2007" speaks volumes about people's inability to find nice, wearable clothes at the moment.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 28/05/2017 09:20

Wuck - Agree.

OOAOML · 28/05/2017 14:15

wuck absolutely! I know natural fibres are more expensive, but why on earth do shops think we all want to spend the summer sweating in polyester?

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 28/05/2017 15:36

Having said that, have just been into town and bought:

Lovely basic cotton t-shirts - come up huge, so size down!

Basic vests come up small so size up!

Cotton skirt Comes up small.

I had to wade through many monstrosities though. And it does annoy me that their sizing is so random. I needed size ten in the t-shirts, and 14 in the skirt and vests.

BestIsWest · 28/05/2017 15:44

I got that T shirt in black last week Remus. Lovely quality.

BestIsWest · 28/05/2017 15:44

But, yes, huge.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 28/05/2017 15:51

I bought three black ones - can never have too many well fitting black t-shirts!
