I seem to have come over all S and B. I'll go and have a lie down.

Cold is still HIDEOUS. My head feels stuffed full of smelly rags and my eyes (amongst other things) hurt. Am keeping a very low profile and drinking gallons of tea.

Am meant to be out this evening for dinner and really want to go. Any tips?

NoCureForLove · 21/05/2017 10:21

I am thick. My cold isnt helping. Im even more confused as people name changed then reverted to original monikers. Who are you poor Marg??
Clue? Pm? Ta.

MrsKlugscheisser · 21/05/2017 10:44

Is Margarita Martini's neighbour IRL?

Love - Grin try day nurse or if you are really stuffed up, the day sudafed is, I think, better. You should feel better temporarily and be able to taste your dinner.

Cremolafoam · 21/05/2017 10:45

Love, >Dose with Contac or whatever these days has pseudoephedrine hydrochloride and paracetamol in. Rest in semi recumbent posture this afternoon. Massage peppermint oil into hair. Have a shower to wake you up before going out. Tell host you will have to slip off early in case of fading.Grin

Omg that article made me cry little tears of sadness.

Cremolafoam · 21/05/2017 10:49

My red lip of choice 💋is Mac Vinyl or Clinique Ten ton Tomato which is a little sheerer Smile

motherinferior · 21/05/2017 10:53

So much with lippie is how it works on your natural lip colour. Everything pulls pink on me, given the slightest chance.

Auriga · 21/05/2017 11:12

Found you all, a bit late (thanks Love and BTM) & haven't yet penetrated all the disguises.

Margarita (formerly??) I've had over a year of disabling sciatica, slightly improved now after many small ups and big downs. Don't know if there's anything helpful I can say.

We've been away overnight for friend's concert and had best sleep for weeks. Helping me to recover from a morning of hospital investigations on Friday followed by car crash telephone interview for a committee post. I was crap. Can't think now why I put myself through it.

Heading back now for choir rehearsal. Glorious sunshine here (Suffolk)

NoCureForLove · 21/05/2017 11:16

Ooh Suffolk. I love Suffolk as you probably know. Inland or coast?

Stropperella · 21/05/2017 11:17

I can't wear any lipstick other than a feeble shade of nude. Anything else makes me look (even more) like a crazed elderly clown.

Marg, sciatica is bloody ghastly. It completely crippled me last summer and I have had to change my life in major ways to live with it. Stop exercising and take hefty doses of anti-inflammatories (Naproxen) and see if it subsides. I now know that I have a completely buggered disc from when I was pregnant with ds. I had pain after the birth and on and off for the decade afterwards. But it was doing several years of hardcore competitive HIITs that really caused it to become v bad indeed. But I didn't know what was going wrong until I had the MRI.

bigTillyMint · 21/05/2017 11:43

Oh no MrsMargarita. Rest sounds like a first step.

I fear I am going to get my margaritas and martinis mixed up!

Herbs, I feel Envy Could you go and spend a week down there in the winter (or Newcastle!) to see it at its worst IYSWIM, with DP commuting to try it out?

We are on the bus up to the south bank with our Kiwi friends who are staying for a couple of days Smile

motherinferior · 21/05/2017 11:47

I fear I am going to get my margaritas and martinis mixed up!

Story of my life...Wine

IDismyname · 21/05/2017 12:04

I discovered this last year: Lipstick Queen which I wear all the time.

I bought it in Space NK last year, when I went away with girlfriends for the weekend. We all tried it in the shop, and it all suited our own colouring, despite the fact we were blond and dark.

I see BarryM does a much cheaper version, so I may give that a whirl when mine runs out.

I do have a Clinique Chubby Stick, but the colour is so bright, I only wear it when I'm dressed in monochrome-y colours. Then I spend the whole time panicking thinking its on my teeth Grin

motherinferior · 21/05/2017 12:08

I love a red lip (as we journalists call it, you know. While wearing a Trouser. And a Shoe). I tried tasteful nudes for a bit but I'm not very tasteful, really. Also the only other makeup I wear is black mascara smudged about a bit in the hope of a bit of a tightlining effect.

herbaceous · 21/05/2017 12:13

I love a red lip too. Viva Glam by Mac is my most extravagant purchase, but an old one by Bourgois that I found in a drawer is what I wear most days... detracts from the jowls.

Stropperella · 21/05/2017 12:40

I had Viva Glam and also Mac Red. But I gave them both to dd, who can totally rock them and frankly they look a lot better than the corpse purple which was a previous favorite of hers.

Cremolafoam · 21/05/2017 13:04

@motherinferior Grin @ lip singular.
For me its all snout texture. I like a non shiny lip personally and am glad to see matte and velvet products back in style.Smile
Not sure if clown effect also affects me Stropps
Auriga, youve had such a dreadful time of it recently. So sorry you had to have all those investigations. Utter misery. Please make that get you a diagnosis soon. Flowers

I am terrified of using the real names of posters if i dip in and out of WA.
Need to stick to one platform.Grin

herbaceous · 21/05/2017 14:25

'Snout texture'. Roffle.

MrsKlugscheisser · 21/05/2017 14:33

My mouth is too small for red lippy. I would look like I had a small red dot in the middle of my face.

Cremolafoam · 21/05/2017 14:34

🐷🐽

IDismyname · 21/05/2017 14:54

Yeah.

We need to Rock The Crepey Lip

Blackduck · 21/05/2017 15:47

I don't like lipstick (on me) or make up. I feel like a clown

hattymattie · 21/05/2017 15:57

Have noted all Bobbi Brown colours will try in Cambridge where there is a lovely guy on their make up counter and not scary young girls. Having said that, bought a brill under eye concealer/serum from girl at Galaries Laf Bobbi Brown who has pulled out the right shade for me (good job too given the price). I love lippie and it has to be a decent colour - no point wearing it if you cannot see it.

Sciatica is horribleSad

Dreamqueen · 21/05/2017 16:08

I love an orangey lip. Particularly heatwave by Nars. Following but have no idea of who's who.

motherinferior · 21/05/2017 18:32

DD2 is back from getting spectacularly lost on DoE. Grin

Rosenspants · 21/05/2017 18:49

So sorry for Crepeys with terrible back and sciatica pain. Flowers and you Love with a vile cold....short term use of any decongestant you can lay your hands on, I should think...you can use the spray and the syrup, I believe.

My go to red lip is Shiny Conker, No 7. But I have to tone it down a bit these days ...I think my complexion is getting paler. As a Winter I tend to do better with blue-reds.

Ok ish day here. Brunch with the girls this morning was a nice escape from the usual Sunday morning lolling. DH has been left holding the baby quite a lot at weekends lately. I don't feel remotely guilty somehow...Grin. Anyway really nice, long walk together this afternoon in the sun. DH and I are half way through catching up on The Girls and will finish it tonight. I am finding it absolutely horrific. Well acted though.
