It's really muggy here - I think a huge storm is on the way. Have been helping set up the second hand clothing stand for the church fete - I have bagged myself a Sinequine trousers suit for 5 euros - the jacket is beautiful - the trousers a size too big but can be remedied - or I could just wear the jacket as have no real need of a suit. The worthies at the church invited me to stay for lunch - I sat down at the table then realised they were all standing up to say grace Blush - I'm such a heathen.

Have also got visas for China so it's a goer.

Just waiting for the plumber now and then off for an early evening drink with friend - the darkening sky suggests we will not be on the terrace!

Crem - that sounds a lot of things all at once from DD - she doesn't do things by halves does she?

magimedi · 02/06/2017 17:54

Hatty - I heard your storm - while watching the Tennis. It didn't really rain at Roland Garros but there was one almighty clap of thunder & the storm moved off.

MsMartini · 02/06/2017 18:15

Massive storm here, still muggy, trying to persuade ds that a Nice Clear Up makes a good break from revision and X box.

IDismyname · 02/06/2017 18:58

Oh yes, I'm trying to encourage Nice Clear Up here, too.

Can't say its going swimmingly Hmm

MsMartini · 02/06/2017 19:16

Nor here. Tidier-upper made the schoolboy error of lying down....with the inevitable result.

Is it just me or has today lasted about 22 hours already?

hattymattie · 02/06/2017 19:21

Magi - we had such an enormous clap of thunder it made me jump. We did have half an hour of torrential rain as well.

Am happily full of Leffe, having had a good old gossip. Am now going to watch the rest of 13 Reasons.

Cremolafoam · 02/06/2017 19:42

Would i be being unreasonable to ask dd to help me with diy while she is here? I will pay her a bit. Dont wan her holing up in her room on Skype for a fortnight Sad

NoCureForLove · 02/06/2017 19:59

YWNBU Crem... but she might be.

bigTillyMint · 02/06/2017 20:04

She should just help.

But i bet i would have to offer mine a bribe!

NUFC69 · 02/06/2017 21:15

Sometimes it's the only way, Crem.

Forecast is good here for the weekend which means gardening. In any case somebody has to wait in possibly all day for the new hob to be delivered. And then I am going to be a cycling widow on Sunday as DH is going to be doing another 100 mile run which means he'll be gone for about twelve hours.

Cremolafoam · 02/06/2017 22:04

Thanks Crépes.

MsMartini · 02/06/2017 22:26

Do/might you DIY well together? If so, bribery. And best of luck tomorrow, for the grand homecoming.

hattymattie · 03/06/2017 07:40

Crem - I'd expect help and without pay! I reckon I give them enough cash as it is.

motherinferior · 03/06/2017 09:11

I have been for a Ladysplash, urged on by DP's announcement that the GP's scales add half a stone to ours.Shock

herbaceous · 03/06/2017 10:00

My scales are brutally honest. So honest that when I first bought them, I took them back to Boots as I couldn't possibly weigh that much. Had to turn around and come back once I had the awful truth confirmed on the public scales. True story.

Off to Ramsgate today to check out possible relocation zone. It has the most beautiful houses, very cheap. A lot of it is run down, but it is Doing A Margate, has gone all arty, and has such things as a harbour and a Waitrose, demonstrating it's more than just a seaside town. Maybe.

Had a brief but lovely dream as dozing this morning that my dad was giving me a lift. He was as in my youth, and we were having a lovely chat. I woke up happy but sad. I don't think in real life I'll ever have a conversation with him again. Sad

Rosenspants · 03/06/2017 10:10

Flowers Herbs I miss the convos I had with my DDad. In his last 5 or so years it was not possible. He had all the social niceties but there was no depth. Sad

I am really struggling for clothes at the moment...I need some interim stuff whilst I lose weight. Any long, non clingy but also non boxy t-shirts about...? I feel a bit desperate....

MsMartini · 03/06/2017 10:22

Rose, I got three of the ones WAF recommended (or similar) from H and M. They are cheap so you could get some for now? They are not the style that suits me best but good for daily pottering.

Cremolafoam · 03/06/2017 10:29

Very hard to come by Rose. Everything is bunty short or falling of a shoulder. I have found some on Asos but they are bog standard plain jobs.
here ignore the tshirt dresses, i was unable to separate.

Rosenspants · 03/06/2017 10:41

I find myself strangely drawn to the maternity ones.....oh dear..

herbaceous · 03/06/2017 10:42

I found a couple of non-boxy numbers in. Of course. Sainsbury's!

magimedi · 03/06/2017 10:57

I bought a couple of these mens' T shirts from Next - I like mens' stuff as it is always much longer.

www.next.co.uk/men/t-shirts-tops/essential-t/1

NB - NOT the vests!!

Cremolafoam · 03/06/2017 11:30

I can second the H&M ones. They seem to do very good basics. Also just thought oh Uniqlo

bigTillyMint · 03/06/2017 12:07

DD spends much of her time in DS, ex bf and DHs enormous Tshirts and sweatshirts She says they are more comfy Grin

MrsKlugscheisser · 03/06/2017 12:12

Am going shopping with DD2, who has grown (up and out, as a result of spending her weekends lying in bed and eating shit) and has no summer clothes.

We had a rude awakening this morning from DD1's friend and her family. She is staying here for the weekend and wanted to drop off her bag.

MrsWobble3 · 03/06/2017 12:24

Does anyone know where I can get cotton vest tops in plain boring colours (black, white, grey)? I used to get them from La Redoute in a three pack for pennies but can't find them now. I currently have vest tops from H&M and M&S but they are not cotton and not as nice - a bit clingy and look too much like underwear to be worn on their own. Thanks and much gratitude for any suggestions.
