Are Style bloggers wealthy as a result of their blogs or do only wealthy women actually blog in the first place?

Just wondering really as every single style blog I come across is written by someone who appears to have pots of cash and thinks an item reduced to £200 from £300 is a 'bargain'?

I seriously can't get over the amount most of them seem to spend on clothes!

Makes sense knowing that. I think it should be made clearer on blogs just what the connections are. They didn't all suddenly genuinely start liking the same dry shampoo (for example), the management co wil have had a big push on it across their various 'Stars'. I get it. It's clever. But it's not transparent enough.

There is a him huge push on dry shampoo at the moment. I have seen tutorial style ads on Facebook as well as non gleam bloggers pushing it.

The Colab dry shampoo? It's a Gleam-bot!

KeiraKnightleyActsWithHerTeeth · 17/05/2017 16:14

Did anyone think there was something dodgy with the awards around Christmas time (maybe Cosmo) where the majority of the awards were won by Gleam bloggers (Anna or Lily, Megan and a few others) and Dom's smug face was all over the place?

MadameSzyszkoBohush · 17/05/2017 16:14

I really like Ruth but I tried Colab and it was rubbish.

Maudlinmaud · 17/05/2017 16:24

Not a fan of dry shampoo, I wash mine everyday anyway. But colab do a shine spray and I rate it. Black can.

Any kind of award for blogging is absolute shite.

Rosemary McCabe did a blog post on it, shooting straight from the hip. Ruffled a few feathers at the time!

*Firstly, these kinds of events are designed exclusively to garner publicity and/or money for the publication in question. The nominees – and winners – are also chosen with that aim in mind. (And I’m not making this up; I know this because I’ve worked on similar events.)

It starts with asking who could possibly be in the running; then, “Who’ll talk about us / canvass for votes?” It’s important that the nominees / winners will get publicity (ergo money) for the publication in question. People who don’t share their nomination on social media? It’s very unlikely that someone who ignores their nomination will ever be nominated again.

Also, as I saw someone else pointing out, the Gossies nominations are shockingly Dublin-focused – and it is incredibly bizarre and questionable that there’s a significant crossover between sponsors and nominees. (Cocoa Brown sponsors star of the year; Marissa Carter, Cocoa Brown CEO, is nominated in three categories. Meagher’s Pharmacy sponsors influencer of the year; Meagher’s CEO Oonagh O’Hagan is nominated in the #girlboss category.)*

Substitute London for Dublin and I imagine it's the exact same.

The bit in the middle was meant to be in bold, copied from her post - flipping bold never works for me! Hmm
