Hmm. My mothed has always been the trendy one. When i was 25t she had an edgy leathed jacket, when I was 10 her idea of a cultural day out was in BIBA. At 80 she had a pair of leather trousers, silk new romanticcy blouse and peep toe platform patent high heels. She looks at my shoes hotter or gabor with disgust. She's still a size 8/10. I have neved felt inadequate - never

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 31/05/2017 21:50

Lass I've recently bought this from Oasis! I love it! It's kind of similar to the M&S archive one!

It's lovely. I've always been a very girly girl. I love dresses, floral prints, swirly skirts.

BitOutOfPractice · 31/05/2017 22:03

That is a lovely dress

BagelGoesWalking · 31/05/2017 23:32

You didn't sound rude at all Flo I'm used to cutting remarks from my DD but yours were fine Grin

LottieandMia · 31/05/2017 23:34

My daughter just said 'who'd be seen waking around in that?' Grin

LottieandMia · 31/05/2017 23:35

I go on cosy little shopping trips with my dd. But I'm only 22 years older than her.,,don't know if that makes a difference.

SomeOtherFuckers · 31/05/2017 23:38

Lol @Floisme me and my mum have always gone shopping and had lunch together - since I was a kid and even now at 22 😂 she even still pays for my stuff because I'm at uni - we have the best time and it's a great way to get outfits that a) I like and don't have to pay for and b) she judges decent and wouldn't be ashamed of me walking around in x

sophiant · 01/06/2017 00:31

It's reincarnating on Asos now. Though a tad more tailored.

It's still hideous.

Gingernaut · 01/06/2017 00:53

£27.99 from New Look.

Thigh split and strange cut out with tie detail on the sleeves.

Vivienne Westwood £830.

FloofyCat · 01/06/2017 02:40

I absolutely love that Asos version Blush

The only thing stopping me from buying it is the thought of MNers judging the fuck out of me the fact it is the exact same shade as my hair which would make me look even more of a tit Grin

But seriously, if I still had long black hair I think it would be a good look. Am I deluded?

The others are still fucking awful, mind. That Vivienne Westwood...words fail me.

BitOutOfPractice · 01/06/2017 06:48

I think the ASOS and new look ones are castle better because they have a waist. Not my taste at all but much better than the M&S one

BitOutOfPractice · 01/06/2017 06:48

Out of interest, isn't still in the stores or has it "flown off the rails"?

Floisme · 01/06/2017 07:02

Lol @Floisme me and my mum have always gone shopping and had lunch together - since I was a kid and even now at 22 😂 she even still pays for my stuff because I'm at uni - we have the best time and it's a great way to get outfits that a) I like and don't have to pay for and b) she judges decent and wouldn't be ashamed of me walking around in x

I despair of young people sometimes. I really do.

Floisme · 01/06/2017 07:06

See I'm in such despair I've forgotten how to do bold. That first paragraph was SomeOtherFuckers who, at 22, is old enough to know better.

Floisme · 01/06/2017 07:19

Oh and I don't mean having lunch together - that's lovely. Parents paying for clothes cos you're at uni and skint - absolutely.
But young people choosing clothes their mothers approve of is just plain wrong.

BusterGonad · 01/06/2017 07:39

Flo I go shopping with my mum occasionally, I'm nearing middle age so it's not the same, what I hate though is when she says (about an outfit) oh Aunty Vera would love that! Confused Aunty Vera is knocking on 70 and dresses in cargo trousers, with hideous trainers, think Nick circa 1980 and wears fleeces and clothes that are generally made for middle aged men! 😂 Needless to say I swiftly put said item back on the rack!

Floisme · 01/06/2017 07:55

Now that's more like it Buster - that's a proper mother and daughter shopping trip.

I resumed shopping with my mum when I was 25. From then on, we had a great time.

BusterGonad · 01/06/2017 09:19

Flo ha ha, I'm glad it pleased you! Grin

Okite · 01/06/2017 13:02

Am I deluded no, I agree the Asos version is much more elegant. It has a shape and a waist and the sleeves are much better. Plus it looks a more chiffon-y fabric rather than wall-to-wall polyester.

ElspethFlashman · 01/06/2017 13:26

That Vivienne Westwood one screams "Female MP at a House of Commons drinks party" to me. It's figure hiding frump, but it's frump that looks expensive.

ErrolTheDragon · 01/06/2017 15:36

Oh, my DD generally dislikes clothes shopping and would rather do it efficiently with me than with friends. I have a car, load carrying ability, patience and willingness to foot the bill at the moment. Her taste is usually more staid than mine and her standards of 'decency' more rigorous - 'generation sensible' personified (except when she's being daft as a brush)Grin

BagelGoesWalking · 01/06/2017 15:52

Certainly not of question of buying only what I approve of - although she doesn't really ever want anything outlandish. And, boy, lots of weird stuff to choose from if that's what she wanted! It is a question of efficiency and having the debit card (even though she has one of those too!) But you're right, Flo, I never went shopping with my mum past the age of 15.

She's out with friends at the moment but they've gone dog walking with their various mutts 😬 rather than shopping.

Floisme · 01/06/2017 16:02

Joking aside, they do seem to be a very sensible and well adjusted generation. I guess they have to be.
