Is there a non transfering sort of instant fake tan?

I'm after something I can put all over to make my legs and arms look nice bare but no fake tan works on Me, they all streak etc and Iv tried loads. So I'm wondering if there is something that can be washed off but won't come off into clothes or when you sweat or get caught out in the rain??

I use the Rimmel Sunshimmer one (if it's still called that). I've not noticed it coming off on clothes, though I'd be careful wearing white. Takes a good scrub with shower gel to get it off so no way would it wash off in the rain!

Purplerainbow · 25/04/2017 17:46

fritzy I think I used to use that ages ago..... but I remember it being quite dark on my skin and hard to rub in it has it changed since?

There is a fair version, also a sparkly or matt. Easy to rub in, though harder to wash off your palms!

Maudlinmaud · 25/04/2017 17:49

Does it need to be instant? I just fake tan at night and put a onesie on that way it doesn't get on the bedding. When you wash your hands after instant it comes off, so that doesn't work for me.

I use Garnier moisturiser with a hint of self tan. It just gradually fades, smells like normal moisturiser too rather than fake tan but actually gives quite a nice natural colour. I think 2 or 3 applications over the course of a few days works best. There is one for pale skin and one for darker skin. I'm fairly dark skinned and use the lighter one as the darker one looks awful for some reason.

Purplerainbow · 25/04/2017 17:57

Iv tried a few gradual ones and they either make no difference or streak!! I moisturise and exfoliate so I don't know what I do wrong?'

Sally Hansen leg make up applied with a tanning mitt stays on for days and doesn't run off on white clothes. I use the fair as I'm v pale but medium is quite tanned.

Purplerainbow · 28/04/2017 20:22

Is that the spray mrs? I wouldn't have thought to use a mitt! That's a good idea.

I love the boots no 7 mouse (applied with a mit) for a very subtle tan. I have really dry skin but it's the best I've found.

Purplerainbow · 28/04/2017 20:36

desp is that an actual fake tan though?

Can anyone recommend something you can put over your arms and legs for a night out on holiday to make your skin nice and sort of 'dewy' if you know what I mean?

Cocoa brown is really good, develops in an hour. You can get it in Superdrug afaik

LadyOfTheCanyon · 28/04/2017 23:35

No 7 used to do a wash off fake tan that went on nicely applied with a sponge ( like a make up one). It was a bit more of a faff than , say, gradual fake tan body lotion but it didn't streak or come off until you went at it with soap and water.

GraceGrape · 28/04/2017 23:48

Yes, the Sally Hansen airbrush legs mentioned upthread is very good and gives a really nice finish. It doesn't rub off easily, but you can scrub it off in the shower. I think it's marketed as make-up for legs rather than a fake tan but the light one makes my milky-white pins look tanned and hides some obvious veins.

Only1scoop · 28/04/2017 23:50

I use the Palmers one. Really natural

AngelicaSchuylerChurch · 29/04/2017 01:07

I've just been reading a post about exactly this on Esther Walker's blog. She recommends the Lancôme instant bronzer (although of course £££). No 7 used to do a shimmering aftersun which was perfect for taking the edge off blue-white limbs but it looks like they've discontinued it.

fauxhito · 29/04/2017 01:22

For aussie ladies, the Mecca bronzer is the bomb. You get a dewy look with the bronzers that have a hint of sparkle.

Tinnie88 · 29/04/2017 01:40

I use St Moritz mouse for actual fake tan in winter months.

Lancôme bronzer for instant colour with a nice glow, really moisturising so perfect for legs. www.lancome.co.uk/skincare/by-product-category/the-suncare/flash-bronzer-self-tanning-lotion/227102-LAC.html.

Or the St Tropez oil is good for a bit of colour and glow, although not as deeps colour so I use over a natural tan after hols.

Purplerainbow · 29/04/2017 06:50

faux that sounds what I'm after!!!!! I want a)something to sort my blue legs out so I feel confident to wear shorts here this year (Yes it WILL get hot enough Grin ) and b) I go on holiday soon and I don't tan at all and want something for arms and legs that make them look nice as I don't tan!! For when I go out for a dance in the evening (hence why I want non transferring so it doesn't come off when I get hot??)

What's the st tropez oil? Is it a sunbathing oil you mean?

Just put some self tan into your normal body lotion. Put it into a bowl add tan stir well and put on all over after shower. Works perfectly as gives a natural look after 2 or 3 goes. Leave for a few secs before dressing and it wont stain anything.

dudsville · 29/04/2017 07:09

I'm not knowledgeable about this but I bought a tube of St tropez that adds colour now and builds a tan. They say to leave it until it's powdery dry and then you can dress and I find this is true, although I prefer to do it the night before because of the odd smell.
