Haha 204 people were looking at it at the same time as me- half of mumsnet?

It's....ok. Not sure if the colour would be prone to washing out complexion perhaps?
Order it and try it?

WilburIsSomePig · 14/04/2017 21:18

My dd 18 has this in wine for her school prom. At 50 I'm not sure I'd get away with it.

I think 50 is too old for little mistress, sorry!

It looks like a dress a teen would wear to a school prom to me?

OK, these have sealed the deal - it's a no. I really don't want to look like a sad old twat trying to look young. Any other suggestions please??

Height?
Colouring?
Build?
Budget?

dingit · 14/04/2017 21:20

Have you looked at j d williams ( whispers)? If you sift through the old lady stuff, they have some nice dresses.

TisapityshesaGeordie · 14/04/2017 21:21

John Lewis have a few evening gowns reduced to around this price at the moment, you may have more luck there?

SpinningCircles · 14/04/2017 21:21

Sorry missed where you said all this!!

NeverTalksToStrangers · 14/04/2017 21:22

Tk maxx is your friend for low cost formal wear.

neveradullmoment99 · 14/04/2017 21:23

How can anyone just assume that someones age can dictate whether they suit an item or not? Not everyone that is 50 looks old. If you are slim OP and petite, I have no doubt the dress could look lovely on you. Team it with a pair of heels in a similar colour and it will look lovely. You will just wear it differently than someone who is younger.

WilburIsSomePig · 14/04/2017 21:25

Oh god dingit am I at the JD Williams stage? FFS! Grin (I'll have a look though, don't tell anything shhh!)

Woops

StrawberryJelly00 · 14/04/2017 21:28

I agree with neveradullmoment!
Lovely dress and one that I think someone of any age could pull off - depends on body shape & confidence not age
Buy it!!!!

StrawberryJelly00 · 14/04/2017 21:29

JD williams!!! Don't do it no one is THAT old ever!!!

Mum2jenny · 14/04/2017 21:30

I like it.

dingit · 14/04/2017 21:31

Sorry Wilbur, maybe not Grin

Sallygoroundthemoon · 14/04/2017 21:31

I think it's lovely and would look great if you are slim. I hate the fact that we are 'meant' to wear matronly sequins and beading if we are over 35.

NeverTalksToStrangers · 14/04/2017 21:35

Beading is very much not considered matronly these days. All over school formals/proms. I think it can be too much on young ones though and (despite posting beaded dress up thread) I'm a fan of more simple dresses. That's just what i suit though. Colour and cut over detail.

leccybill · 14/04/2017 21:35

What colours suit you? What's your style?

millifiori · 14/04/2017 21:38

It's beautiful. I have a friend who is well over 50, petite and would look fabulous in it. I' 50 and wouldn't. It depends what you look like. I reckon if you are a little bit bohemian in the way you dress, then it will look fantastic.

millifiori · 14/04/2017 21:39

That TK Maxx dress is gorgeous too.

pictish · 14/04/2017 21:41

"I think 50 is too old for little mistress, sorry!"
With all due respect, bog off.

Don't listen OP...the dress is very elegant...and if I'm being honest, a little boring. You are not too old for it.

HarrietVane99 · 14/04/2017 21:47

Love the tk maxx. I don't like the top on the Asos, I think it looks a bit fussy for a petite person.

greeeen · 14/04/2017 21:47

That tk maxx dress is lovely!
