BD - Don't sob!! Just enjoy....

(I would kill to have the view that you have btw...)

GiddyGiddyGoat · 01/04/2017 10:41

Yes, enjoy BD!
We do care and worry about you and you deserve a treat. XXX

bigTillyMint · 01/04/2017 10:54

BD, wish we were all closer and could pop in and help you enjoy the gin Smile

NUFC69 · 01/04/2017 10:55

We didn't mean to make you cry, just enjoy it; you deserve a treat, BD. (I love your view, too).

BTM, I wish you pleasantly boring. It will come.

Crem, do you have any Japanese cherry trees in your garden? When we opened the bedroom curtains this morning the bullfinches were attacking the buds: they obviously prefer them to the sunflower hearts!

hattymattie · 01/04/2017 11:00

Don't sob BD enjoySmile

motherinferior · 01/04/2017 11:01

Glug, sip, nibble and wallow. Don't sob!

Lalsy · 01/04/2017 11:38

BD, enjoy

Blackduck · 01/04/2017 11:41

And more.....

motherinferior · 01/04/2017 11:42

Enjoy some more! You've had a horrible time recently. Flowers

MrsSchadenfreude · 01/04/2017 12:28

Sit back, enjoy the gin and the view, BD. I am currently enjoying the view of the petrol station and building site from my bedroom.

NU
Yes! We have a plum and a cherry 🍒 and insane bullfinch is pecking in an annoying way. The flowers are just coming and I really want fruit this year dammit grr!
Cat just sits looking uselessly at its headbanging as wellShock

motherinferior · 01/04/2017 13:18

DP bought a cherry tree last weekend.Smile

Off to sing, equipped with suitable medications. NU, you're right - have been not great for a while in the old health and energy department. But the sun is shining and I have nice music to sing!

addle · 01/04/2017 13:48

Enjoy BD! Everyone needs a little something sometimes.

CV - fingers crossed for your DSM

Good luck with the concert MI

Congrats Stropps and mini Stropps. Really wonderful news

Lovely walk in surf London sunshine this morning; dark clouds gathering now. As my MIL always says when we finally emerge for breakfast 'what a shame. it was lovely earlier'

Lalsy · 01/04/2017 13:57

I really enjoy hearing about the pleasant or calm stuff in people's lives, by the way, as well as everything else on this marvellous thread!

Stropperella · 01/04/2017 14:16

Happy Saturday, BD! Smile

CV, I'm sorry to hear your news. Hope things are not as bad as feared with your dsm. And that the shock of a bad report will get ds back on track.

I am always impressed by these tales of fit dhs cycling about all over the place. Mine is extremely happy with his own company, views exercise as something highly unpleasant that he gave up once he left school, and he is built like a weeble (remember them?).

MI, sorry you are fighting a lurgy. Hope the concert is uplifting even so.

MM, so glad to hear you're finally feeling better.

NU, well jel about your hols, as ever. Smile

Rosebag · 01/04/2017 14:18

Great post Stropps! Good on both of you!!

BD I do hope the goody bag lifts things a bit for you. Flowers xxx

Wish you better MI I'm sure you can sing through it, suitably medicated!

CV Please post about the good things too....we can all get caught up in a spiral of gloom and we need perspective! I'm sorry about your DSM and hope that the full diagnosis will put a more positive light on things. DS...well, I do feel sorry for the DC and that awful AS year. At least we had a dossy time in the lower sixth to get over O levels. If it's any consolation, my BFF's DD who is the same age and stage as my DS2, is now at Oxford having failed all her AS mocks with E's and F's. She then bucked up and started working.

Thanks all, for the nice comments about the play. It's just a small bit of encouragement that a literary dept has actually read it and provided and I quote "an encouraging report on initial reading" and liked it enough to progress it to the next stage.

Now going to see DD in her assessed performance. DS2 is packing for Barcelona tomorrow.

BeachysSnowyWellieBoots · 01/04/2017 15:06

I think a lovely soak in a smelly bath while sipping gin sounds just the ticket, BD.

I'm sorry to hear your news, CV. Everything seems to be going swimmingly and then something comes to trip everyone up. Hope they have caught it early enough.

Lovely day here, lounging in the garden between jobs. Ds had a very successful evening last night at a party full of previous school mates.... he was so super anxious, but he really enjoyed himself, only drank a minimum amount and caught up with loads of people he hadn't seen for two years... Phew... God, the teenage carnage being carried out at 1130pm was a right old sight, though.... plenty of Brian action apparently!

bigTillyMint · 01/04/2017 15:52

Beachy, that's great news about your DS at the party.

Good luck to Roses DD. And Envy at DS2!

I'm having a quiet afternoon and may have had a snooze Smile

Blackduck · 01/04/2017 15:52

Back from fixing a piece of dodgy guttering and buying the zillionth vacuum cleaner -
My darling Crepeys what can I say? I am deeply deeply touched by your kindness and thoughtfulness. I feel truly blessed. This week was always going to be hard - 1 year from when we lost dhound, and should have been getting on a flight on Thursday. Mum has been much in my mind - Mother's Day... So just a perfect storm.
I am so touched that you thought and planned, when so many of you are dealing with your own rubbish. CV - so sorry to hear about DM.

Thank you again everyone and I hope you all have a fab weekend and some pamper time of your own
Xxxx

CointreauVersial · 01/04/2017 16:00

Thanks crepeys. Will hear about DSM in the next few days, I guess.

Nice day today - we drove up to Peckham Rye to a flooring supplier recommended by friends, then swung by Dulwich Village for a quick lunch. Found a cute Italian restaurant with a table in the window and free parking virtually outside, and had a delicious and very inexpensive pizza while watching the world go by. When does that ever happen?

Next task is to sit down with DS and make a revision timetable, which won't be quite so rewarding.

Cremolafoam · 01/04/2017 16:13

Aw BD is it really a year already.Flowers🐶
CV how very civilised re lunch. You probably dont recall my dd fluffing her AS exams and having to drop her one favourite subject ( tears were shed, priorities realigned, goals and predicted grades altered) it was a watershed. I think many bright young things can coast through GCSE level and have a nasty wakeup call afterwards. It really gets much harder And very few are prepared for the extra swotting. Im sure he will catch up CV.

MrsSchadenfreude · 01/04/2017 16:36

DD2 thankfully got her mojo back in time for her art exam. And her school report is much more promising. Apart from maths. She can't stand her maths teacher, which doesn't help, but her tutor is very encouraging and says that the girl he is tutoring bears no resemblance to the one described in the report, and he sees no reason why she shouldn't do well.

OP posts:
bigTillyMint · 01/04/2017 16:52

That's all good, MrsS.

I think many, if not most DC find that they haven't got much oomph for the AS year. Either they put in so much effort for the GCSES and are exhausted by it, or they coasted through them and haven't woken up and smelled the coffee yet. Either way, all is not lost, as DD hopefully goes to show!

CV, you should have given me a toot!

CointreauVersial · 01/04/2017 16:54

I did think of you, BTM!

herbaceous · 01/04/2017 18:22

How lovely, BD. Aren't crepeys just marvellous. I can claim no credit, as was not part of the lovely gang - I presume because they're so lovely they knew I wouldn't be able to afford it and would feel bad. But my sentiments are packed up in those lovely boxes too.

Had a surprisingly diverting afternoon in Bruce Castle, a ramshackle museum in Tottenham. DP is now cooking a Tomasina Myers cauliflower curry, and I am preparing to go to a party. Happy days.
