Sandals good for walking that aren't fugly

I'm off to France in the summer for a week, and plenty of walking is expected. I can't seem to find any decent sandals that would be good for walking, but are also stylish and feminine.

Do pretty walking sandals exist, or am I going to have to buy Jesus creepers?!

Fit flops, definitely.

issynoho · 14/03/2017 08:23

Teva or Camel Active leather sandals - got some lovely pale blue ones from Amazon last year, comfy and smart-ish.

SapphireStrange · 14/03/2017 18:36

Try Ecco or Gabor?

hellsbells99 · 14/03/2017 18:45

Something like this?

Love the Lotus ones.

Thanks guys. Lots of great recommendations for me to look through properly later today. Although a quick scan through is revealing some very viable options. I'm a bit of a shoe addict and I can see I'm going to struggle with choosing just one pair...

I've got my eye on these m&s sandals in the black though I quite like the white/silver combo too. Tan would be ideal but don't exist. Saw them in the shop and they are really lightweight as well as not fugly.

heidipi · 16/03/2017 10:34

Ooh I like some of those Teva ones...

RemusLupinsChristmasMovie · 16/03/2017 18:04

I really like those Clarks clogs, but they are not walking sandals in any world of walking that I know. I had ugly Clarks ones last year and they were excellent - walked miles in them on city breaks. This sort of thing - ugly, yes, but not as ugly as proper 'walking sandals'.

Iamastonished · 16/03/2017 19:32

I don't think those Clarks ones are ugly. I think the M and S ones are, plus they look so uncomfortable. I'm not keen on the Teva ones either.

TheUpsideDown · 16/03/2017 19:56

I'm sorry, but its a no for those Clarks Remus - I agree they aren't AS ugly as proper hiking ones, but still unattractive enough for me to worry that my husband would never want to have sex with me again! Grin

I actually really like the M&S ones and they have been added to the 'maybe' list, along with a few others.

They're not mine, so no need to apologise - mine may be even uglier, but they have served me well so far!

Bluntness100 · 16/03/2017 20:07

Jesus wept. There is some fugly sandals on here ladies. Those m&s monstrosities are shocking, and much worse than the Remus ones, sorry, sorry sorry,,,all you need is to wear them with some ankle socks and you're good to go. 😂

The salt water ones are lovely though, I like the sliders and think I may buy a pair, the merrils are also nice...

BreatheDeep · 16/03/2017 20:11

Another vote for Teva - so comfortable and practical

Bluntness100 · 16/03/2017 20:17

In fact just ordered the salt water sliders in rose gold...so big thanks to the op for starting the thread and mrs nucky Thomson for posting the link..,suspect I shall get a lot of wear out of them. 💐💐💐💐

NotMeNoNo · 16/03/2017 20:18

Teva for me for off road walking . Think of them as sandal equivalent of trainers.

Madbengalmum · 16/03/2017 20:24

I have just got these from ancient greek in rose gold, the lether is butter soft and i can walk a good way in them. I just cant do fugly or uncomfy sandals!

Madbengalmum · 16/03/2017 20:25

These sorry!

bruffin · 16/03/2017 20:26

Love my fitflops.
Just bought some sanuk yoga slings and they are comfy as well.

AteRiri · 16/03/2017 22:19

I agree with Saltwater sandals - didn't think they'd be very comfortable!

polyhymnia · 16/03/2017 22:44

Another vote for Fitflops for holiday city and country walking here.

NoLotteryWinYet · 16/03/2017 22:54

Anybody found any nice brown leather sandals with a thickish sole? Not hideous or tan coloured if possible.
