Thread 1 Thread 2 Thread 3 Thread 4 Thread 5

For those who are taking a peek and wondering whether previous threads are worth reading, we mostly discuss a bit of advanced skincare here with a perspective of seeking out the right ingredients for our particular skin needs. Distinguishing the acid toners from the actives whilst avoiding the truly unimpressive and harmful ingredients with a hope to achieve a bit of anti-ageing, alleviate irritation and sensitivities with some idle chat in between. Deviations on this thread are mostly my fault. Grin

If you're in need of some advice coming to grips with your skincare routine please don't hesitate to ask, we don't bite, only occasionally sting with a bit of Biologique Recherche P50 now and then Wink. Just make sure to state clearly what your concerns and needs are in as much detail as possible, skincare is highly individual and a random recommendation for a 'good' product will be completely different from one person to the next.

Make sure you've read the earlier threads (or at the very least the first one) so we're not being asked to answer previously raised questions. It takes a lot of time and effort to answer these queries and often the answers can be found in previous threads, but if you still have questions relating specifically to you, use the following form to make life easier on us. We generally answer one a day on a first come first served basis. Not everyone will have answers and sometimes we can't answer you at all. We're only a bunch of amateurs that can respond by suggesting what we would do in your place, for any severe conditions please seek out professional help.

Ahem, and finally a little note on spending. I'm well aware these threads cause many to reach for their wallets and spend with wild abandon. There can sometimes be a bit of a frenzy surrounding the excitement around a newly discovered product or on the back of great improvements when someone reports back. This is all great, it doesn't however, mean everything that's a sudden miracle for one will be it for you. Usually, it's a light bulb moment for connecting the right skincare ingredient with an individual experiencing a specific problem. Take your time to mull over decisions and question whether it's right for you too. Skincare is highly individual, it's a slow game that should cost mostly in patience, input, education, and perseverance. Please don't make it cost you financially needlessly.

Oh yes I have those now too. Works well. Ish.

Rhubarb and Custard wine! Not sure if that sounds gorgeous or horrible. Grin My DSis would love it.

Ollivander84 · 21/04/2017 01:40

Pineapple cubes! Love the label design too.

mintmagnummm · 21/04/2017 06:41

Glad u like it Enid i smelt the ginger one yesterday and loved it so that will be my next purchase when vanilla Shea one runs out Grin
That's interesting about redheads, I'm a red head and I've always thought I had a high pain threshold. I have tattoos and have been told I sit very well and don't even flinch lol. I also usually demand McDonald's or tea n biscuits after GA they tell me no so I kick off so they give me something then I vomit everywhere Blush. Then usually demand to go home even when I'm nowhere near ready (I get out of bed and wander down corridor when can hardly walk) then I kick off, discharge myself then faint when home and have to go back ConfusedBlush

Does anyone else get pilling in their morning routine??

mintmagnummm · 21/04/2017 07:33

Right so something definitely isn't right in my routine now and I'm thinking it's my lrp dry touch gel cream spf 50! The packaging has changed and I'm now wondering if the formula has changed too because I now get pilling and make up doesn't sit well on top, plus my skin looks a bit more dehydrated! I'm using moisturiser underneath and letting it soak in first but it's just not working! It can't be cleanser I've used it for years, hylamide subq I've used for over a year (recently stopped that but going back to it I think, my skin doesn't react to it so is ok) and my face theory creams I've used for about a month or more? And no reactions, it does go very white and takes an age to rub in but even with all the rubbing it has never pilled so must be the lrp?? BUT WHAT NOW!! I need spf 50, it needs to be fragrance free, not greasy or shiny, and no alcohol HELP

mintmagnummm · 21/04/2017 07:46

My pores look a bit parched and make up is sitting in them like dots

Dulcimena · 21/04/2017 10:47

Day 2 of the Mommy SPF33 UV Mild Gel - applied on bare skin with nothing else there is zero shine, it looks exactly like bare skin. However I need more hydration, it's not enough on its own. Tomorrow will try Vit C underneath.

This really could be a winner. Lightweight, cosmetically elegant, no silicones, alcohol or fragrance.

Any use for you, mint?

Ilovetocook wrt to the brown patch that started with pregnancy, it looks and sounds like melasma. I have a melasma 'tache (nice, I know). My investigations have suggested that brightening ingredients like Vit C are helpful, plus a physical sunscreen is more effective at preventing further discoloration than chemical. I have noticed some lightening/fading when I religiously apply a high SPF physical s/s, but I don't notice much change when using a chemical s/s. Fallene/Cotz Total Block is good ime but heavy.

The challenge for me is finding a physical that is wearable every day - I can't use silicones, which makes a huge difference to what's available to me but it sounds as though you'll have more choice. I think Pupsie has used some nice ones.

mintmagnummm · 21/04/2017 14:48

Ilovetocook do u mind me asking what medication your on for fibromyalgia? I also have this and it's horrible, I feel like an old lady sometimes (I'm 35) I'm on codydramol daily and amitriptyline. Headaches/migraines, neck/shoulder/back pains are my weak points.

ohgoonthenjustonemore · 21/04/2017 16:53

I am currently working through the previous threads in order to get up to date and I'm finding all the advice extremely helpful and interesting. I do have a quick question...I've just added the PC 2% BHA liquid to my collection of TO products and I'm unsure as to whether it's ok for me to follow the PC with my Niacinamide 10%+Zinc1% ?

userallusedup · 21/04/2017 19:33

ohjust I use TO salicylic acid with TO nia and not had any problems & from what I recall from posts here BHA and nia is usually fine to combine and you can buy products that have both in them. That being said I don't know anything about Paula's choice BHA as have never used it so not sure if there's anything else in there that might react with nia but I'm sure others here use it & will be better able to advise.

userallusedup · 21/04/2017 19:34

ohgoon sorry I completely messed your name up in that last post!

ohgoonthenjustonemore · 21/04/2017 20:02

No problem user ! Many thanks for your response ! As you can probably tell I'm a real technophobe and haven't learnt how to highlight names as yet 🙄

ilovetocook · 21/04/2017 20:14

mint at the moment in just on dihydrocodeine. Before I was pregnant I was on a brilliant combination of pregabalin/tramadol. The dairy and gluten free diet has surprisingly helped and I've been told some doctors now recommend trying it if suffering from fibromyalgia.

mintmagnummm · 21/04/2017 20:37

Thanks ilovetocook I'm not sure I could cope with dairy and gluten free diet, I would find that very difficult and high maintenance I think Sad

ilovetocook · 21/04/2017 20:51

mint I went free from for breastfeeding my toddler who has allergies and decide I felt so much better. It was after thaty HV who also has fibro told me about her doctor and others were now saying its worth trying. Its hard at the start but surprising how many normal things are safe. It's the egg allergy that really makes it hard.

RubyGoat · 21/04/2017 22:42

Enid & Ollivander - that Lancome 008 is perfect on me... thankyou! Unfortunately they didn't have any sample tubes available to give out so I can't see how my skin reacts to it longer term. Would love to know which of the TO foundations is a perfect match for the colour.

I'd really like a hand cream with SPF in, something not greasy (so almost everything at Boots & the supermarket is out!) Also not terribly expensive, & convenient for a handbag. Any recommendations?

EnidButton · 21/04/2017 23:28

Lego oh good! Smile Although they could've given you a little pot with some in. They usually will. tight arses try to go to another counter if you can.

EnidButton · 21/04/2017 23:30

ohgoon put an asterisk/star at either end of the word you want to bold, like this.

this but without the spaces.

RubyGoat · 21/04/2017 23:59

I'm definitely going to! Going shopping to nearest city in a few weeks (live in a market town) & plan to ask at every conceivable stockist until I get some. I have to say I really liked it. Perhaps it was just the novelty of wearing the correct colour for a change but still... Grin
