Thread 1 Thread 2 Thread 3 Thread 4 Thread 5

For those who are taking a peek and wondering whether previous threads are worth reading, we mostly discuss a bit of advanced skincare here with a perspective of seeking out the right ingredients for our particular skin needs. Distinguishing the acid toners from the actives whilst avoiding the truly unimpressive and harmful ingredients with a hope to achieve a bit of anti-ageing, alleviate irritation and sensitivities with some idle chat in between. Deviations on this thread are mostly my fault. Grin

If you're in need of some advice coming to grips with your skincare routine please don't hesitate to ask, we don't bite, only occasionally sting with a bit of Biologique Recherche P50 now and then Wink. Just make sure to state clearly what your concerns and needs are in as much detail as possible, skincare is highly individual and a random recommendation for a 'good' product will be completely different from one person to the next.

Make sure you've read the earlier threads (or at the very least the first one) so we're not being asked to answer previously raised questions. It takes a lot of time and effort to answer these queries and often the answers can be found in previous threads, but if you still have questions relating specifically to you, use the following form to make life easier on us. We generally answer one a day on a first come first served basis. Not everyone will have answers and sometimes we can't answer you at all. We're only a bunch of amateurs that can respond by suggesting what we would do in your place, for any severe conditions please seek out professional help.

Ahem, and finally a little note on spending. I'm well aware these threads cause many to reach for their wallets and spend with wild abandon. There can sometimes be a bit of a frenzy surrounding the excitement around a newly discovered product or on the back of great improvements when someone reports back. This is all great, it doesn't however, mean everything that's a sudden miracle for one will be it for you. Usually, it's a light bulb moment for connecting the right skincare ingredient with an individual experiencing a specific problem. Take your time to mull over decisions and question whether it's right for you too. Skincare is highly individual, it's a slow game that should cost mostly in patience, input, education, and perseverance. Please don't make it cost you financially needlessly.

I tried to tell someone the other day that MAC NW is for cooltones and NC was for warm but they wouldn't believe me. I wonder why they do it that way round. Makes no sense.

Ollivander84 · 18/04/2017 15:30

NW = not warm and NC = not cool Wink

EnidButton · 18/04/2017 16:19

Really? Grin

Ollivander84 · 18/04/2017 16:24

Apparently so! Makes it easy to remember. I read it on a MUA site somewhere
My pink parcel has arrived (period beauty box) with a caramel hand cream that smells amazing

mintmagnummm · 18/04/2017 17:22

Sounds like a good routine olli and is obv working for u!
Is the biore watery essence fragranced? And does it contain alcohol?

EnidButton · 18/04/2017 17:31

Caramel hand cream sounds amazing! 😍

mintmagnummm · 18/04/2017 18:09

Olli re Mac I also heard it was "needs cool" and "needs warm", as if we're all supposed to be neutral. The actual tones don't add pink or yellow though so that so no idea if that's right.

Pupsie Yes. I am. been ordering a few samples to try. What I really want is a non-white cast physical with no silicones but the elegance of a Japanese sunscreen. And the moon on a stick, please.

Bo I suspect TO 30% would be good on KP but it'd be a horror to use. You can't leave it on - it's the colour of beetroot juice and I'm confident would stain sheets, and anyway it stays sticky. If it were clear, or more serumy, it might be a go-er but as is I honestly struggle to think how I could use it on limbs. As it's viscous it doesn't go very far either, I used probably 3-4 times as much product the other evening as I would have Buffet Shock

mintmagnummm · 18/04/2017 20:53

Thanks olli I might give that one a go once my bottle of bioderma runs out

RubyGoat · 18/04/2017 21:08

Right. I've added the 2% retinoid, 10% niacinamide, & the 10% magnesium ascorbyl phosphate to my order. To be introduced one at a time, slowly, obvs. Grin Definitely think the retinoid is a good idea - I'm officially now closer to 40 than 30 (although apparently I don't look it, & I'd like to keep things that way!)

The Hibiscrub is definitely helping with my back. Not all clear yet but it's only been a couple of weeks, plus it's moody cow time for me right now... my order of the Eucerin Ph5 arrived today as well, I got the wash & the oil so I'll feed back on which works well & how slippery the shower gets with the oil too.

EnidButton · 18/04/2017 21:14

I haven't seen that one Mint is it S&G? I've got a big bottle of Rich and Foamous, which smells a bit like cake Grin, and a mini bottle of the Clean on Me one. I prefer the smell of the Rich one but the Clean one feels nicer. I've got a bottle of the sugar crush shower gel too. That scent is my favourite. Especially in Summer.

Ollivander84 · 18/04/2017 21:29

Enid - I linked to it further up but it's by the woman who did s&g and Bliss
Tesco sell it. The Shea hand wash was a fiver but 500ml bottle and you only need a tiny bit
http://www.soaperduper.com

EnidButton · 18/04/2017 21:51

Ooh I was looking out for sone different hand wash. Have added some to my Tesco basket. Which scent do you like best? You liked the love hearts sweets one too didn't you?

EnidButton · 18/04/2017 21:51

I have the love hearts one already btw, just seeing if we like similar scents.

Ollivander84 · 18/04/2017 22:02

Yes the love hearts is good! I got the Shea butter and the tuberose but the lemon smelt good too. Strawberry laces carex seems to be one of the favourites at work

RubyGoat · 18/04/2017 22:17

I usually just go ro TK Maxx & have a nice time smelling all the bottles of handwash. DD has aked if she can come next time... she's 4, I think I've started something. She keeps asking about my makeup & all the lotions I put on my face as well. I have to keep my nail polish where she can't reach it now, last time she found it she painted her fingers (note: not just the nails) & I spent an hour swabbing the sofa with acetone...

EnidButton · 19/04/2017 00:29

I do like a good sniff of all the different ones. Soap, shower gels, shampoo...DH joins in now. Grin

I've put a vanilla Shea butter hand soap and a ginger one in the basket.

Ollivander84 · 19/04/2017 00:38

New Zealand by nature lemongrass and ginger hand wash is amazing if you ever see it in TK maxx. Love their conditioners too, they're really thick and moisturising

EnidButton · 19/04/2017 01:03

Thanks, I'll keep an eye out for it. Love the smell of ginger.

mintmagnummm · 19/04/2017 06:43

Enid the Shea and vanilla one is lovely it reminds me of vanilla ice cream or something mmmmm!

mintmagnummm · 19/04/2017 06:44

I want to order from TO I feel left out Grin

mintmagnummm · 19/04/2017 07:10
