Trends that you just don't suit?

I've been ogling halo eyeshadow looks on Pinterest.

Tried it today and it just doesn't work for me. It just looks a bit weird! Also the overdrawing of lips - tbh I'm not the biggest fan but when I tried it, it just made me look like I had really uneven lips!

Also crew necked tops as I'm busty Grin

Anyone care to share theirs?

Skinny jeans. I wear them but they make my legs look like jumbo sausages. Today I walked past a mirror and looked only at my legs, and it was like looking into a funfair distortion mirror. My legs looked so wide, fat and short!

Brown eyeshadow.
Red lipstick.
Low rise jeans
White shirts (so unfair!)
Long coats
Any dress without a high and relatively structured waist
Silver jewellery (double sob - gold is so bloody expensive!)

fadingfast · 22/02/2017 18:42

Shift dresses. Especially the 60s style with a high neck. I'm tall with broad shoulders and I look like I've grown out of them!

naffedoff · 22/02/2017 18:49

Tube skirts. My hip area much be much wider than the rest of me so these don't suit me at all.

dudsville · 22/02/2017 18:51

Now that trousers are fashionable longer I just don't suit that. I regularly hem then to 5/8ths or 9/10th's or whatever as a bit of ankle works better for me!

SunsetBeetch · 22/02/2017 19:20

Button up blouses. They always gape around my blobs.

SunsetBeetch · 22/02/2017 19:20

Boobs not blobs! Grin

Tall hourglass here.

Skater dresses, high necks, ruffle/pussy-bow/tie neck blouses = titty bang bang on me. NO.

Ankle grazers. I'm almost feet tall and it just looks like I couldn't find trousers to fit me.

Jumpsuits / playsuits - put about a stone on me.

Brogues - long skinny legs and big feet in manly shoes? Oooh, no. Not for me.

Very fitted coats e.g. military style, that look best buttoned up. Give me shelf bob. Ditto ponchos or shawls of any description.

JayzuzMaryJoseph · 22/02/2017 20:52

*almsot 6 feet tall

KatharinaRosalie · 22/02/2017 21:04

I have strong calves and ankles
Skinny trousers - sausage legs
Cropped/ankle trousers - cankles
Midi skirts - in my head I look elegant, in reality I look like I have tree stumps for legs

Mom jeans and culottes are just a cruel joke. Nobody looks good in them.

rightknockered · 22/02/2017 21:18

I think very little of what I wear suits me, but I wear it anyway. I'd never find anything to wear if everything had to be perfect. The worst though is anything tucked in, I am very short waisted and I look like an odd giraffe

rightknockered · 22/02/2017 21:20

And anything with ruffles, I look like a man in drag and not a good one. I actually look more feminine in mannish clothes

MikeUniformMike · 22/02/2017 22:22

I look awful in combat trousers and A-line skirts. I'm curvy with shortish legs and they make me look like a sack of spuds.

MikeUniformMike · 22/02/2017 22:23

I saw someone in a pair of slim cropped trousers with ruffles at the hem today and she looked fab.

JaceLancs · 22/02/2017 23:05

Cropped or ankle length anything
Mini skirts
High necked anything
Skater dresses
A line skirts

chemicalCat · 23/02/2017 10:18

I've pretty much given up on jeans. Although my legs are decent they never feel right on me - whatever the style. (I have one "jeggings" pair that's OK.)

I avoid midi or maxi skirts as they always make me look frumpy and short (and at 5'4" I could do without any shortening effects).

Stuff that does suit is his high waisted stuff - shirts and shorts. I am also in my 40s and wear pinafore dresses. Hell, I even wear dungaree shorts.

plimsolls · 23/02/2017 10:23

Any thing mid or high rise. My waist is ridiculously high up (not far from my boobs) so anything designed to sit at the waist either looks staggeringly strange - like a portly Victorian girl child - if I put it on my natural waist, or cuts me off at my widest point if I put them where normal people have their waists so I look strangely stumpy with gangly arms and legs.

Annoying because nearly all skirts for sale at the moment are at least mid rise plus nearly all the trousers I like are designed to sit high.

Low waist stuff is a godsend for me and I am very much looking forward to it coming back into fashion.

NomDePlumeReloaded · 23/02/2017 10:41

Midi skirts - I'm tallish and fairly slim with decent legs but midi length anything just cut me off at the worst possible point. So unflattering.

Crop tops - stretch marks

Denim skirts - too thick/chunky fabric they look lumpy around my waist.

Anything with a high round neck - big boobs, makes me look strangled and makes my already long neck look freakish.

Belts - again, look lumpy and odd on my waist

Bomber jackets - too puffy and unstructured

Parkas - hate them, they hide all my good bits and drown me.

45DegreestoReality · 23/02/2017 15:59

plimsolls I could have written your post! I long for low rise trousers to make a comeback.

AnUnhappyStudent · 23/02/2017 22:09

I'm 49 and love mini skirts and opaque tights!

neveradullmoment99 · 23/02/2017 22:13

A skirt thats gathered at the waist for me. Adds inches to my pear shape. I can only get away with it if i put something over the top of it that drapes over the gathers.
I can never get into shortish bomber style jackets that don't cover at least part of my bum. I buy and never wear note to myself

neveradullmoment99 · 23/02/2017 22:14

I am 49 also and love a short skirt. Wouldnt wear one that is micro mini but happy at 18 inches. I personally have no issue with a short skirt. I love pinafores also. There is a pinafore out there for everyone.

hoddtastic · 23/02/2017 22:29

i cannot wear converse. I cannot wear any thing that 'wraps' because one of the 'leaves' goes into my tit crevasse and it looks awful.

I am tall and most jeans either fall down or if I pull them up high enough to not fall down they give me a horrific camels foot.

Eliza22 · 23/02/2017 22:46

Anything above knee. I look like Bubbles DeVere.
Hair in a bob/pixie. Looked great on me, years ago. Now ages me massively.

Jeans. All jeans. My son tells me "mum, it's not good". He's right. I recently took them all to the charity shop.
Anything that tucks in. Christ, I used to have a great waist. Not anymore.

Bollocks.

Whathaveilost · 23/02/2017 23:33

Most things look ridiculous on me!
However the worst offenders are
Polo neck jumpers
Wrap dresses
Per una
Neutral coloured make up
Short. Hair
Classic styling.
The list goes on an on..........and on!
