Would you regard this as bridal?

I'm getting married - eek!! I'm nearly 44 and don't suit white or very light colours, however red is a good colour for me. This dress suits my budget but could I get away with it as the bride?

Personally I don't think so.

Catdogcat · 13/02/2017 21:32

You will be the bride and you will be wearing it, therefore it's bridal.

Go for something you love that suits you, it sounds like this fits the bill.

I think it's gorgeous.

Twoevils · 13/02/2017 21:32

I wore something very similar in Green. I was 42. So I think it's perfect if red is a good colour for you.

I couldn't even face 'proper' bridal shops Grin

GoodyGoodyGumdrops · 13/02/2017 21:34

Absolutely! Especially if you co-ordinate other outfits to (eg groom, bridesmaids, having a touch of your colour on their outfits). No rule states that you have to be married in white.

badg3r · 13/02/2017 21:35

I really like it! If you tie it in with the flowers, groomsmen etc it will look lovely.

Surreyblah · 13/02/2017 21:35

No reason why not!

PragmaticWench · 13/02/2017 21:37

Wear something fabulous that you love. That has to be the most important factor, not that it's a traditional bridal dress!

I didn't wear white, have a veil or flowers and far from regretted it, I felt amazing.

LoupGarou · 13/02/2017 21:38

I think it's stunning and definitely bridal, really beautiful dress Smile

BeccyButterfly · 13/02/2017 21:38

If it's your style then it will look fab! Your wedding, your rules.

LoupGarou · 13/02/2017 21:38

Also congratulations Flowers

OliviaBenson · 13/02/2017 21:39

It's lovely! Do you feel like you in it? If yes then go for it!

Ohyesiam · 13/02/2017 21:40

Absolutely, it's stunning, and you will totally look the bride in it.
Congratulations Flowers

Lolimax · 13/02/2017 21:41

I love it. I'm 47 and think it's gorgeous. Very limited stock though have they got it in your size? I hope they have as it's lovely.

Mum2jenny · 13/02/2017 21:42

I agree, it's a stunning dress and you'll look gorgeous in it.

Aderyn2016 · 13/02/2017 21:43

I think that if you pick red (or another colour), you should tell guests to avoid it. You will feel more bridal if you are the only one wearing a dress on the colour of your choice - guests will likely avoid white but could well turn up in red.

Monkeyface26 · 13/02/2017 21:43

It is a gorgeous dress.
White/ivory are colours that other guests will avoid, in deference to the bride. Other people might well choose to wear red so you just need to decide whether you care about that. If so, you'd have to tell people not to wear red.
You will not be so readily identifiable as 'the bride' but if you don't mind about that, then it's no one else's business.
Hope you have a wonderful day and feel fabulous in whatever you wear.

NarkyMcDinkyChops · 13/02/2017 21:43

If the bride is wearing it, it is bridal. Wear what you like.

DramaAlpaca · 13/02/2017 21:44

I think it would look amazing.

Monkeyface26 · 13/02/2017 21:44

Oops cross post with Aderyn

Redglitter · 13/02/2017 21:44

Definitely. It's gorgeous. As the bride you can wear whatever you like and it'll be bridal Smile

jarviscockatiel · 13/02/2017 21:45

Thank you so much for your thoughts. I really appreciate them.
I bought it and collected it today but it's one size too big - as I knew it would be. A friend of mine is a dressmaker and is looking at it tomorrow to see how easy it will be to alter. I do like it a lot but at the moment it makes me look larger than I'd like so I'm reserving judgement until I see it pinned tomorrow.

It's lovely!

It would look gorgeous with fresh flowers in your hair, if your hairstyle would allow.

Bluebellevergreen · 13/02/2017 21:47

I love it! I could have worn that for my wedding and be happy

NattyBatty · 13/02/2017 21:47

It's your wedding, and if that's what you want then you go for it.

My dress was black chiffon with black and wine brocade and I loved it (and I mentally gave two fingers to anyone that thought it was ok to pass judgement)

NarkyMcDinkyChops · 13/02/2017 21:48

Brides wear red in India, China, Japan, Armenia...many many places (historically anyway, not always now).
