Hairdresser disaster! Help please

I had my hair highlighted yesterday and it's terrible. I usually colour my own roots, have done for several years, then have foils every few months
I use wells koleston blonde 12/11
The person who did my hair is on maternity leave so I tried a mobile hairdresser, she cut my hair a couple of weeks ago and its nice so I thought I'd get her to colour it, bad move.
I'd normally have foils in a lighter blonde/ bleach and a dark blonde
She suggested just having bleach and having it more ash as it's quite warm. Sounded ok but I've ended up with yellow roots about a good two inches then really light, the top is really bad doesn't even look highlighted
She used foils but the top and sides were done with what looked like a spatula with a comb at the end. She seemed a bit panicky by the time the top was being done and I think the bleach h can't have been in my hair more than five minutes
When she'd finished and she showed me I didn't realise how bad it was because I was sat with the light behind me so although it wasn't what I was expecting it didn't seem that bad but seeing it in daylight it's horrible

I really don't trust her to sort it out now. What can I do? Could I use the 12/11 on the roots to lighten them? I've washed it in silver shampoo but it made no difference
Ive also got a dark blonde colour 6/0 is that any use for anything, don't normally use it but it was sent by mistake
I've got my hair in a ponytail as it looks such a dog and short of wearing a hat I don't know what to do. Please help x

I'll have a go but it's under artificial light so it might be a bit hit and miss, I'll take pictures in different rooms and see what comes out best. Thank you 😊

I bet it's not as bad as you think.

Tbh with hair disasters I think the only solution is to cough up and visit a really good colourist. You don't want a "general" hairdresser - you need someone who specialises in colour and nothing else.

Trying to rectify it yourself is very likely to make it worse.

I'd speak to your friends (who have great highlights) and see if anyone can recommend someone really good.

TBH I sympathise - it took me ages to find my current (brilliant) colourist. I think I'd weep if she moved.

It looks like it might need a toner and then purple shampoo - what colour were you hoping for as it looks nice to me?

Top is yellowy - I get it

Ended up clipping part of it up to so the difference. More difficult than I realised trying to take a photo of the top of my head! There's no light blonde highlights anywhere near the roots, just the yellow then the really light further down.

I agree it's bad especially the difference between orange/ yellowy roots and lighter ends. I wouldn't suggest trying to do anything yourself I would go to a recommended colourist tomorrow if you can? It's no so bad you can't go out or anything but I wouldn't be happy with that.

It's not good, it has to be said. I think you need to get to a colourist - the orangey hue you could try and tackle with toner but I think the two different colours is a matter for a professional.

I'm well and truly fed up. It looks far better than this when I do my own roots
I live in a village not a city so no hairdressers open on a Sunday and quite a lot close Mondays too, including the one I went too who's now on ml. Tuesday I'm at a meeting at dad's care home which is a three hour round trip away so it's going to be Wednesday before I can get it sorted
One friend went to the same hairdresser so I can't ask her one uses henna one has never coloured her hair a a couple just do semis at home, I work mainly with blokes so that's no use either.

I just can't figure out why it's all the roots that are yellow and not highlighted bits if that makes sense, it looks as if all that part has had colour plonked on

she did your ends first then roots? thats why it has gone wrong. your ends will have already been light so wouldnt need bleach on as long as your roots.

the only fix is going darker, a base 8 or 7 all over but you will still have a darker root.

going to a salon and getting lots of fine highlights through your roots, some low lights through the ends and a toner all over.

you could ombre it? i wouldnt use base 6 though thats more like a mid brown and i think you would get a shock.

i agree she has coloured the majority of your roots rather than highlighted them. she doesnt sound experienced in colouring at all.

Jesus that is bad, I can see why your upset. Get some purple shampoo and it should sort it right out. I hope you didn't pay much for it.

It surprises me how many colourists hairdressers can be so wrong,
Why on earth did she bleach your length (ends)?
You wouldn't need them bleaching?

When you say bleach do you mean bleach bleach or are you talking peroxide and colour?

What vol did she use too as you can get this if you use 20 or 30vol. If your hairs base is naturally dark you'd need a higher lift tint.

Is she deffinatly trained? It's been a while since I trained but God that's so confusing I can't understand what she was hoping for.

If you know what vol it will help, there is a high lift tint that takes it 3/4 shades lighter with just peroxide not full on bleach but depends what you actually had on it.

You could try that in foils with maybe darker blond just to counter act the yellow then if it's too bright use a toner or bleach bath

I'm not going to lie - that's pretty bad.

When I get my highlights done my colourist puts all the dye/bleach (she puts 4 colours in) at the roots and doesn't touch the ends - because they have already been coloured.

I think your hairdresser has no experience of colour and done the opposite.

I don't (as per pp) think you can fix this.

Any dye you apply will "take" differently between the colour of your roots and ends i.e. you will end up with the same tonal difference - just a differing colour.

If you are "up north" I can recommend my colourist. Frankly I think you cut/grow it out or have it professionally fixed.

I'd go to another hairdresser and ask for your usual dark blonde and light blonde highlights. It will all blend in over time. It seems the roots haven't had bleach in long enough to lift the colour. My hairdresser does my roots then only paints on the lengths for the last 5 mins.

Bear in mind it will all fade down after 2-3 weeks. I hear you though, I hate the sinking feeling of hair colour you aren't happy with!

Also, don't try and sort it out yourself. You can't do it with home dye because they aren't nearly as strong as salon dyes and you will probably make matters worse.

OH AND buy some dry shampoo!!! That will definitely help blend the roots in with the lengths temporarily.

Then, mentally accept the fact it will be Wednesday before you can sort it and try to forget about it until then. Can you clip it back? A side parting or off centre parting, then twist/roll/plait the fringe either side. Anything with a bit of texture will help disguise a colour mistake.
